And Brie’s eager to get a close-up view of the cute tush she’s admired on TV, even though she’s reluctantly sworn off even more tempting local beefcake.
The campaign fundraiser promises to be a huge success until a pitchfork attack turns the goat farm into a crime scene—again.

About the Author
Linda Lovely finds writing pure fiction isn’t a huge stretch given the years she’s spent penning PR and ad copy. Linda writes a blend of mystery and humor, chuckling as she plots to “disappear” the types of characters who most annoy her. Quite satisfying, plus there’s no need to pester relatives for bail. Her newest series offers goodnatured salutes to both her vegan family doctor and her cheese-addicted kin. She’s an enthusiastic Sisters in Crime member and helps organize the popular Writers’ Police Academy. When not writing or reading, Linda takes long walks with her husband, swims, gardens, and plays tennis.

Mother’s Day and what it means to you!
I have mixed feelings on Mother’s Day. My mom passed away a few years ago way too young. We were close as I was an only child. She was with me through my cancer, when I miscarried and then when we lost Kincaid. She was a great mom always there when I needed her. I still find myself trying to pick up the phone to call her. We were lucky the house across the street came up for sale so we would be close to my parents.
My mom and I when I was a little over one year old.
I miss my two babies we lost and but I couldn’t change having my four boys. They have all grown so fast the oldest is 21 and the youngest is 7. I tell them all the time no matter how old they get they will always be my babies. I enjoy being a mom and friend to each one of them. My babies below when my mom passed. She has missed so much in the past 5 years.
Mother’s Day for me is bitter sweet. I miss my mom, but I love my babies as well. I wish she was here with us and I hope she is looking down and watching over all of us.
I wish all the mom’s reading this a Happy Mother’s Day and if you have lost your mom as well I am sorry and know how you feel. Let’s hope they are all looking down on us.

The Face on the Other Side (Thomas O’Shea Mysteries)
Mystery
3rd in Series
FPS (February 10, 2018)
Paperback: 340 pages
ISBN-13: 978-1945338946
He’d promised Sheriff Payne that he wouldn’t take any more matters into his own hands. So, when on a leisurely morning drive, SEAL-trained Thomas O’Shea sees two girls attacking a boy on a sidewalk, he opts not to intervene. When the boy is later murdered in the local hospital, though, all promises are off. What seems at the start to be a simple case of gang activity turns out to be far more. Even O’Shea, who has seen more than his share of evil, could not have guessed what is about to transpire…
Guest Post
I have discovered an approach to writing that I don’t believe I’ve seen from other writers. Having published the first three novels in the Thomas O’Shea series, I am also working on two more books. One, of course, is novel #4 in the O’Shea series, and I’m well into that effort, sitting at around 20 chapters right now.
The different approach to writing is this: I am simultaneously writing another novel, a stand-alone “literary” novel. I’m at 12 chapters on this one.
Benefits? I have found that if I hit a rough spot in one novel, I can switch to the other and get work done with that one. Frankly, this surprises me, but it seems to keep me pumped, inspired, or enthusiastic. Or all of those things.
The O’Shea novel is told in first person, from Thomas’ perspective, which can be limiting because the reader has to trust what the speaker is saying. Is he reliable? Does he have blind spots in his relationships? Is he too kind to his own motivations?
The “literary” novel is told in the limited omniscient point of view. We can see inside the protagonist’s head, we can step back and take a look at the setting as well as other important characters, and we can have the luxury of an objective assessment of what is happening in the story.
Will this work with two published novels from two different genres with two points of view from the same author? Time will tell. I hope to have them both finished by the end of the summer. Wish me luck!

Genres: Adult Paranormal Romance/Urban Fantasy
This book does not contain any sexual content.
Excerpt
A man pushed through the crowd, dressed in a grey shirt and black trousers, he stood a head taller than the rest of the guards with a mop of brown curls and electric blue eyes.
Sera’s heart skipped a beat. She’d known who she was supposed to come and meet but seeing him again stirred up a rush of long buried emotions. Get a grip! You’re nothing to him now. The mission will always come first.
Why him? Why did it have to be him of all people? But she hadn’t protested when Alward had given her this task. They both knew only she was skilled enough to infiltrate the hunter’s guild.
Bastian Novare, mage prince and renowned fey hunter, commanded respect with his presence. Even the fey fell silent as they stared at him.
A redheaded woman with sharp emerald eyes and a burly man with long black hair came up behind Bastian. Both wore stunners and knives, marking them as hunters.
To Sera’s surprise, Bastian pushed his way through the crowd until he reached her.
She wished her glamour disguised her true appearance better as recognition flashed in his eyes. “Sera?” he gasped. “You’re the…”
“I’m the potential hunter Liana told you about.” She met his gaze head-on. “But I don’t think this is the place to talk.”
Liana waved to her, it eased some of Sera’s nerves.
“How are you alive?” he hissed, still staring at her wide eyed.
“Bas,” she snapped. “Not now!”
He shook his head as if to clear it, then took her arm. “You were dead.”
“Well, as you can see I’m alive.” She knew she should have expected this but part of her had hoped he wouldn’t make such a big deal about her arrival.
“How?” Bas demanded. “You were…”
Sera pulled her arm away, scowling at him. “It doesn’t matter. Now is not the time or place for this.”

When Characters Mutiny
I had a bit of a tussle with Travis last night. Kailyn’s been smitten with him for the better part of three books now, but as we near the end of the fourth book things are going from bad to worse between them. I looked back at my notes and plot outline to make sure the fault wasn’t mine. I had penciled in a relationship problem for them to work through, because life is not without its ups and downs. However, they were supposed to have kissed and made up by now. Travis has been dragging his heels about it. What’s an author to do? I can’t deny him dessert, or use of the car and I can’t make him sit in a corner (of my mind.) I feel awful for Kailyn, who did nothing to deserve the difficult situation in which she’s found herself.
I had a talk with her aunt Tilly, but she wasn’t much help. Her advice was “don’t worry.” Telling a worrier not to worry is pointless. She should know that, since she’s quite the worrier herself. I asked if she could use some magick to move things along in the right direction. “I’m not all that good at weaving spells,” she reminded me. “The one to speak to is Kailyn.”
“She’s too close to the situation to act with any objectivity,” I pointed out.
“To be honest,” Tilly said, “any spell meant to change Travis’s mind or heart would be black magick. We Wildes have no truck with black magick. You of all people should know that. Youcreated us. You laid out the rules. And youapparently gave that man too much freedom of thought. Would you care for an apricot tart before you go?”
I was getting desperate – desperate enough to seek out Merlin. I recited the problem for the second time. “As I’m quite sure you didn’t come to me first,” he said, “I’d like to know what my dear Tilly told you.” After I summarized our conversation for him, he thought about it long enough to eat an éclair he’d pilfered from her next high tea reading. “In my opinion, these Wilde women are far too stuck on the black and white of magick, when there are any number of subtle shades of gray that might get the job done. As their creator, you may have missed the mark on this one.” Although the criticism may have been deserved, it wasn’t at all helpful. If people think their children are ungrateful and difficult, they should spend a day in my head with my characters. On second thought, forget I said that. My head is already too full.
Bronwen popped into my head. She was Kailyn’s grandmother. I killed her and Kailyn’s mother off before the first book. They never seemed to hold a grudge about it. And it never stopped them from popping into Kailyn’s life whenever they pleased. Come to think of it, I’d started losing control of my characters way back at the beginning with them! In any case, Bronwen’s advice was to let Travis and Kailyn find their own way back to each other, and to de-stress with a three scoop ice cream cone. Turned out to be the best advice I’ve ever been given.

Praise for Shadow Girl
I enjoyed the characters a lot. Max and Afton seem to play off of each other well as far as figuring things out.
~Valerie’s Musings
This is one of those books where the bad men are really bad, and everyone in the case is hiding something to have a money profit…
~Varietats
Afton was a likable character for me. She seemed in tune with some of the other characters. She is good at her job.
~A. Holland Reads
Shadow Girl by Gerry Schmitt is one of the most gripping and chilling books I’ve read this year.
~Back Porchervations
The mystery and suspense aspect of this book was great. This was a definite page-turner.
~Bookworm Cafe
Can I just say Wow! It’s been awhile since I sat and read a book that terrified me with precision action that intrigued me so much it was impossible to put the book down.
~Texas Book-aholic
It starts off with a bang (literally) and the suspense never lets up. I love stories that grip you right from the start and this thriller fits the bill.
~Brooke Blogs
This is a serious thriller with a lot going on. There’s surface to air missiles, conspiracies to kill no matter who gets hurt and what has to be done, and characters with some seriously shady backstories.
~I Wish I Lived In a Library
From page 1 I was engaged in a thrilling and suspenseful ride!
~My Reading Journeys
As the chapters unfold we get a good look at things from both the good guys’ and the bad guys’ perspectives. This gives you a first-hand understanding of the killer’s motives, but in no way takes away from the suspense or the desire to see Afton and Max bring her to justice.
~The Book’s the Thing
A page turner like you never read before, Shadow Girl is a deeply rooted thriller in the art of murder, mystery, and revenge.
