Synopsis:
Leilani’s plan was simple: Return for her father’s wedding, housesit for the happy couple while they went on their honeymoon, then get the hell outta dodge. She’d thought the worst thing would be returning to the town she grew up in (and despised). She was wrong.
A flashflood hits the small town, stranding Firefighter, Ryan, and a few strangers at the local bar. Worst of all, Leilani, his old high school rival – and last night’s scorching one-night-stand – is one of the people stuck in the bar. With waters rising, they need to stick together and wait for rescue.
The power grid’s knocked out, and cell phones aren’t working. When the others panic and leave, Leilani and Ryan are left alone in the dark. Fortunately, words aren’t necessary to keep the former rivals warm. But when they’re forced to leave their refuge, they must cooperate to navigate the flood ravaged town and reach safety.
Rising waters bring them closer together. Rising tempers might tear them apart.

AUTHOR BIO:
Tamara Mataya is currently a librarian; she lurked there for so long recommending books to patrons and shushing people, that she suspects they only hired her so it would be less creepy. Now she’s armed with a name tag, and a thin veneer of credibility. She’s also a musician with synaesthesia – which isn’t an issue until someone plays a wrong note, which makes her want to squirm inside out. It makes for a good live show.

USA TODAY bestselling author Cari Quinn wrote her first story–a bible parable–in 2nd grade, much to the delight of the nuns at her Catholic school. Once she saw the warm reception that first tale garnered, she was hooked. She attempted her first romance in junior high, long before she’d ever read one. Writing what she knew always took a backseat to what she wanted to know, and that still holds true today.
Though she also fires up her computer as a graphic designer, proofreader and editor, she can’t resist the lure of disappearing into a world of her own creation. Now she gets to pen sexy romances for a living and routinely counts her lucky stars.

My Review:
I was excited to start his book as it goes back in time. Victoria is thrown back in time as you know from the blurb. She tries to convince her husband that she is not his wife. He doesn’t believe her and even dislikes his wife. Has no feelings what so ever. When she starts to fall for Nichoals. He has been trying to find her for weeks and doesn’t believe a thing she has to say or do. They both start to fall for each other can they make this work before it is too late?
Excerpt:
Despite the way he unnerved her, it was impossible to avoid noting how wonderful he smelled. It was aspicy, potently male scent. Deep inside her, a voice cried out for her to press her fingers against hisbeautiful mouth. The thought made Victoria suck in a quick, sharp breath of air. Nicholas’ eyes darkenedwith an emotion she didn’t even want to consider defining.
Slowly, he lowered his head until his mouth lightly touched hers. Fire streaked across her skin, its
warmth sinking into her pores until it heated her blood like molten lava. She sighed then parted her
mouth to lace his lips with the tip of her tongue. A dark sound rumbled in his chest as his tongue swept
its way into her mouth and imitated an act her body suddenly craved as if she were starving.
Pleasure swept its way through her. The fiery sensation of it settled into every inch of her body. He said
she’d bewitched him, but she was the one under his spell. His lips teased and seduced hers until her
body screamed for more.
She wanted him to touch her. Needed him. She arched her hips upward in a silent plea for his touch, and
a dark growl vibrated on her lips as he tugged the covers off her. His tongue swirled around hers, teasing
and taunting her with each tantalizing stoke. The hot taste of him made her nipples grow hard until they
ached with a pleasurable, tantalizing sensitivity. Eager to assuage the need for his touch, she caught his
hand and pressed it to her breasts. A growl rumbled out of him as he rubbed his thumb over the rigid
peak. The sensation of soft linen between her skin and his hand made her moan softly as his mouth
worked its way across her cheek to her neck where he gently nipped at her skin.
Need spun through her, and as he lifted his head to stare down at her, she saw desire darkening his
green eyes. A knot of anticipation tightened in her lower body as his hand left her breast and slid
downward to her stomach where the heel of his hand pressed into the sensitive spot at the apex of her
thighs. The simple pressure made her suck in a sharp breath, and a small smile curved his lips.
“I want to watch you as I make you shatter from my touch, Victoria.” His words whispered across her
senses as his hand pulled the hem of her nightgown upward to expose her completely.

Drawing Conclusions review
Cece dumpster dives her way through this suspense-filled murder mystery
Cece Prentice is a most unusual young woman. Heiress to a large fortune thanks to her doctor father, who is the head of a genome company on Long Island, Cece is also a freegan—ecologically-minded and socially conscious. If that happens to include dumpster diving for half an old hamburger, previously started by someone she has never met, then so be it.
Cece would still be going about her ordinary, albeit weird, life had her beloved twin brother Teddy not been murdered. Drawn into the police investigation, CeCe uses her sketching abilities and knowledge of her father’s company to provide Detective DeRosa with the clues he needs to ferret out what happened to Teddy. But she soon realizes that this mystery is much more complicated than she ever imagined.
My thoughts: Now this book is interesting as this mystery invlolves a research facility which studies human genetics and CeCe has adopted the fregan way of life. Helping solved the murder of Teddy comes along interesting. The characters are well played and draw you in to turn the pages. A great read.

Death and the Redheaded Woman Review

A strange death calls on Wren to be a jewel-seeking sleuth
As someone who appraises and prepares houses for auction, Wren Morgan has seen her share of fixer-uppers. But when she arrives at her newest project, Wren is unprepared to find something she can’t easily fix—a naked, dead man.
Soon after her disturbing discovery, Wren meets Death Bogart, a private investigator and surety recovery agent who’s looking for the famous missing jewels of the Campbell family. When it becomes clear that there are actually two sets of lost family jewels, Wren and Death team up to solve not only the mystery of the jewels, but also the naked man’s murder. With their case growing more and more complex, though, will they be able to catch the killer and bring home the loot?
My thoughts:
A bounty hunter name Death you can get better than that. Death and Wren find themselves in the middle of a murder. A funny read at times and Wren is very unique with her Duck tape issues. The thing which is best is the author’s use of Disabled veterans and their real disablibites. You have to pay attention to who is speaking at times but overall I was thrilled with this book and will read more.
Thank you NetGalley and Midnight Ink for allowing me to review.

The White Magic Five & Dime Review

Much to Alanis McLachlan’s surprise, her con-woman mother, Barbra, has left her an inheritance—The White Magic Five & Dime, a new-age shop in tiny Berdache, Arizona. Reluctantly traveling to Berdache to claim her new property, Alanis decides to stay and pick up her estranged mother’s tarot reading business in an attempt to find out who killed her. With help from a hunky cop and her mother’s live-in teenage apprentice, Alanis begins faking her way through bogus tarot readings in order to win the confidence of her mother’s clients. But much to her surprise, the more she uses the tarot deck, the more Alanis begins to find real meaning in the cards.
My thoughts:
Alanis is a surprising and sarcastic personality which makes this book rock to begin with. The interactions between Alanis and Logan are so unique and interesting to say the least. There are lots of clues scattered which made this for a great read. You will not be disappointed.

Of Merlot and Murder A Tangled Vines Mystery Joni Folger Review

Foul play at the festival puts Elise on another murder case
When the Beckett family decides to make River Bend Winery one of the sponsors at the Lost Pines Food and Wine Festival, Elise Beckett dives into helping out with their booth. Once the festival setup starts, the Beckett family cheer is soured by Divia Larson, a rival vintner and nemesis of Elise’s grandmother, Abigail.

When her grandmother becomes the prime suspect, Elise and her deputy boyfriend Jackson have to work together to clear Abigail. Will Elise be able to untangle the mess of murder and mystery before it’s too late?
My thoughts:
Abigail and Diva are bitter enemies and things take a turn for the worse when Elise helps set up a booth at the festival. When Abigail finds Diva dead she is the number one suspect. What a fun mystery this turned out to be. Abigail is a hoot and Elise tries her best to do what is right and keep things in order. A great read and new to me author I will be checking out.

TIME OUT, VALENTINE Cover Reveal

Time Out, Valentine
by Melinda Dozier
Publisher: The Wild Rose Press
Release Date: January 2015
And here’s the amazing Time Out, Valentine cover …

BLURB
Lexi’s life is one big dump. Or so she thinks. To keep her mind off her latest breakup, she stays busy with work. It’s no big deal, since writing for Time Out Portland Magazine is a blast…except for the one small snag – Grant Reeds. Grant, a shy but sexy computer geek, is new to Time Out, working as the Networking Director for the online magazine. Even though Lexi thinks he doesn’t notice her, he sure as hell does. The owners have a plan for their upcoming Valentine’s Special, pairing up the two to explore romantic date ideas around the city. Soon, Lexi and Grant learn that the old adage, “Opposites Attract,” can ring true.
EXCERPT
Grant sipped his beer and surveyed the room around them—anywhere but at the siren next to him, with her fancy drink, an umbrella hanging off the side. Overhead lights strobed the room, gleaming in all directions. The DJ announced a new song and a new crowd rushed to the dance floor, leaving them more alone in the back of the room. Thank God.
It was stifling hot. He tugged his collar from his neck and rolled the sleeves of his white button-up. His glasses slid down his nose, forcing him to take them off and put them in his shirt pocket.
Luckily in that part of the room, the music wasn’t so loud that they had to scream to converse. He only raised his voice a fraction to ask her the question he’d been wondering since they set foot in the place. “So, you think this is romantic enough for a Valentine’s date?”
She batted her long lashes in his direction and smirked. “There’s low lights.”
“Yeah and loud music, people all around.” To help prove his point, someone bumped him in the back, pushing him closer to Lexi. His hand circled her waist and rested on her hip.
She sipped the drink, moving the umbrella with her other hand, then licked her lips. “It’sthe place to be. All trendy couples find their way here.” She cocked her head. “What would make it more romantic? Kissing?”
A slow smile formed and he faced her. Not a bad idea. “Actually, yeah.” He placed his bottle on the table behind them, cracked his knuckles and stretched his neck.
She laughed nervously, putting her weight on another sexy as hell foot. “What? You’re gonna kiss me? For real?”
“We need romance.” He grabbed her cup and put it next to his bottle. His gaze dropped to her mouth.
“You kissing me won’t—”
He placed his thumb on her lips. “Shhh. Stop talking so we can be romantic.”
