Breaking Romance News: Just announced Reno RT 2018 will be the last RT conference
Katherine Falk announcing her retirement and the end of RT.
It was confirmed today at the welcoming breakfast by Katherine Falk that this will be the last RT for her and her husband. She will be retiring after thirty-five years of bringing romance readers, writers, cover models, editors and publishers all together to share their love of romance books at the Romantic Times Conference. The conference in Reno will be the last RT.
Katherine Falk thanked everyone for her thirty-five years of making friends and bringing everyone together for the love of romance books. She shared stories from the start of the conference in the mid-eighties including humorous stories of including a cover model named Fabio at the event. One story ended him with him joking that they would end up being “prisoners of love” together after Katherine had to be hard ball as the conference leader.
There were tears, smiles and laughs at all the memories while rain poured outside around the city of Reno. Maybe the atmosphere is trying to tell us something. Katherine Falk will be missed, and her contribution to the romance community will be remembered in years ahead.
As far as RT continuing, there has been a lot of speculation that the RT will be dropped and the conference will just be known as the Book Lovers Convention in the future. Nothing has been officially announced as of yet. But I will update this blog post when the information is available.

Marilyn Vix Preparing for Romantic Times Convention (RT) Next Week!
[image error]Hi Peeps! I’m in full swing prepping for the Romantic Times Convention next week. I’m busy making my swag. Yup, using my jewelry making skills to make cool necklaces for you all. And packing my books for the Paranormal Genre Party on Thursday at 4-5pm. I’ve got a Wheel of Swag to try your luck in Reno, and look for me dressed as a “witch” or as a steampunk throughout the con. I’ll be there ALL WEEK from Tuesday, May 15 through Sunday, May 20.
Plus, here is the big news. I have a grand prize of a trip to the spa with yours truly that you can sign up to win at my table at all of my events. I’ve booked an appointment for myself (you think I wouldn’t go too?) and my guest to join me at the fabulous, in hotel spa at the Peppermill Resort, the Spa Toscana.

Author Appearance: Clockwork Alchemy Conference March 23

Marilyn Vix will be one of four authors on the “Get Started Self Publishing” panel at the Clockwork Alchemy conference in Burlingame, CA this weekend. Writing Update: Kpop Romance in the works and more!
So, it’s been a year since I’ve had a story published. It’s because I’ve been working so hard writing rough drafts of new projects and writing children’s fantasy fiction. I spent a good portion of last year finishing my children’s fantasy book series with the fourth and last book. I’m proud to say, it’s done and going through the final stages of publishing and should be released beginning of April. **See the first of my children’s books on Amazon.com here.[image error]
That means I can return to my romance writing in April, even though I am sneaking in rewrites for the Kpop romance I started during NaNo. I managed to make the 50k and won. But, it still wasn’t done. Just rewrites and finishing to the end is needed. I’ve been having way too much fun with it to stop.
So, I’ve been in revision mode for the last month and I’m taking advantage of it by working on both the Kpop romance and the children’s book. I usually like to toggle my stories.
I also have submitted an awesome steampunk erotic romance, and I’m waiting to hear back from the publisher. I will keep you informed on what happens with that story too.
So, there is a lot going on behind the scenes. The wait will be worth it. I am sure to let you all know as soon as stories become available. You know that saying, “Good things come to those that wait?” I promise, good things are coming. Just check back to the blog!
[image error]Oh, and the biggest news of all. I will be at the Romantic Times Conference in Reno, NV in May! It’s a huge gathering of all things romance: readers, bloggers, authors, editors and publishers all converge and celebrate the awesome genre! This will be my first RT Con. I’m really looking forward to it! I’ll be at the Indie Soiree on Tuesday night displaying my beautiful pink and red scarf!
Plus, I’m also signed up for the paranormal romance party. I’ll have both Never Marry A Warlock Omnibus edition and Everything For Love: Time Rogues Bk 1 at the book fair and my special events. Plus, I’ll have my “Wicked” gift basket set up in the gift basket raffle room. If you’d be interested in maybe suggesting on what should go into the “Wicked” gift basket, please leave a comment below. It’s supposed to be things that you wouldn’t buy for yourself. I also need suggestions for my Indie Soiree gift basket too.

Book Review: Her Outback Secret
[image error]Lately, I’ve been keeping a look out for Australian romances. Her Outback Secret by Kristy Taylor caught my eye and pulled me into an intriguing mystery with a romance at its center.
Kylie Douglas has just inherited her grandmother’s outback ranch, but all she wants to do is sell it and head back to Brisbane. Enter sexy ranch hand Jack Lawson. Jack and his family have been working on the ranch since he was a kid, and are uniquely tied to the property. Kylie is torn between her attraction to Jack and her need to return to her normal life. But when secrets start to unravel about her grandmother and the ranch’s past, Jack and Kylie have to rely on each other to keep the secrets from destroying their new world together.
This book creates a look into the outback cowboy that I really enjoyed. Being from California but having visited Sydney, my only taste of the outback was the Blue Mountains and Uluru. But this gave me a slice into some cowboy living and loving Aussie style. I really liked the mysteries that got revealed pulling me into the rabbit hole along with the characters. I would recommend this book for people that enjoy reading romances about foreign places and Aussie men.
