Never Date A Vampire Blog Tour Coming in March for Marilyn Vix
[image error]
Pssstt…Pass it on. I’m gearing up for a fabulous blog tour next month. Each day from March 2 to March 9, two to three blogs will be featuring my new sequel to the Beware of Warlocks series, Never Date A Vampire. This new novella is the first of a series that carries on the story of Cat, my favorite, feisty witch and her best friend, Cassie. Never to disappoint, the characters eluded me for a few years until bam, last July, it just all came together. For some reason, this group like to do that to me. They like to sneak up and just pour out what they’ve been up to. I hope you like it.

2019 Paranormal Romance Blog Tour Day 4: Marilyn Vix
[image error]Welcome to the fourth day of the Paranormal Romance Blog Tour! I’m happy to announce, it’s me! I’m featured today, with an interview to let you know all about my dark secrets. Plus, I’ve just launched the first novella in the sequel to my most popular series. Never Date A Vampire takes place moments after the Beware of Warlocks series ends. Find out about all my secrets, the ups and downs of writing this new novella, and what you can expect next in my future projects.
1) What is one of your most memorable Halloween memories as a kid?
Marilyn Vix: One of the things I remember is hanging out with the families and kids of my Dad’s band growing up. Each family hosted a holiday. New Year’s was at one house. Halloween was our holiday. So, each year, three families would gather, and we’d have a blast trick or treating around the neighborhood. And of course, put three sets of adults together, and you figure they would get bored unless they did something. Thus, our neighborhood haunted house began. For several years, we hosted a haunted house for the neighborhood while the parents all did the haunted. One year, the mom’s were on the lawn as witches with dried ice in a cauldron. The Dad’s all were vampires handing out the candy. Of course, the kids had to make their way to the front door, to get to the candy, and they had to get by some jump scares to do it. It was, I realize now, the times of our lives.
I look at these memories so fondly now, since the last time I just saw all these fine folks was at my Dad’s memorial in January. To be honest, writing this has brought some tears, because I lost my Dad at the end of last year, and miss my him so much. But I’m so thankful for these Halloween memories now. Please, go out tonight, and make some Halloween memories of your own.
Happy Halloween!
2) How did you inspire yourself when you were writing Never Date A Vampire, your new paranormal romance novella?
Marilyn Vix: I have to admit, I had some writer’s block when it came to this novella. I started it in 2016, and had really trouble getting into the character of Cassandra. I really thought about why, and I realized I liked Cat, since she was a witch. And then it suddenly clicked, what needed to happen to Cassandra and the difficulties she would face. I went back and deleted about 3,000 words to completely rewrite parts of it. It was a great break through when I had the idea to change some of the plot. And the novella took off from there.
3) What kind of writing routine do you have? What techniques do you use?
Marilyn Vix: When it comes to writer’s block, sometimes I just put a project aside until I get inspired. I found that time away will help unravel the blockage. Plus, I also find making up a YouTube playlist to write to gets me into the mood for writing. Once I had the plot change break through, I mixed up a “Never Date A Vampire” YouTube playlist, and the novella came pouring out. The link to the playlist is below. I will have to warn you, there is a lot of Kpop in it. But Kpop vampires are pretty awesome.

Day 3 Paranormal Romance Blog Tour 2019: Lynn Nodima
Lynn Nodima is the author of the paranormal romance Wolf’s Man.
Welcome to the third day of the Paranormal Romance Blog Tour 2019. I’d like to introduce you to Lynn Nodima. She is a fabulous author that has been inspired with storytelling skills from her family and carries on the tradition with her books. Lynn has been a computer programmer, college instructor and a traditional publishing editor. She has turned to living the writer’s life, and writes clean urban fantasy, paranormal romance, contemporary romantic suspense, fantasy and science fiction.
Her book, Wolf’s Man, is a paranormal shifter romance. I had a chance to talk to her about her Halloween childhood memories, her favorite authors, writing routine, and projects she is working on now.
1) What is your favorite Halloween costume or memory?
Lynn Nodima: My favorite Halloween memory is when my daughter was four years old. Her grandmother made her pair of Raggedy Ann/Raggedy Andy dolls that were as tall as she was. My daughter insisted on wearing her Raggedy Ann doll’s dress. I used red tape on white knee socks to give her the striped socks. She was adorable.
2) Who is your favorite romance or paranormal author and how did they influence you?
Lynn Nodima: That’s hard to say. I read and enjoy so many romance and paranormal authors. Cheree Alsop, Kimberly Loth, and Lorri Moulton come to mind. I enjoy a story that pulls me in and makes me want to read the next book in the series. I suppose every book I read (I read a lot!) influences me in some way. After I read a story that I find especially appealing, I go back through it trying to see what techniques were used to keep my interest.
3) Do you have a writing routine? What works for you.
Lynn Nodima: I try to take care of business tasks such as bookkeeping, advertising, and editing in the morning and early afternoon. My writing time is usually sometime after dark. I’ve always been a night-time writer. It’s easier to get into the right mindset then.
Writing time is used to loosely plan my books and writing as many words as I can. At the end of writing, I go back to fix the continuity errors that come up. I don’t do an extensive plot since my characters decide to go off-script on a consistent basis.
Sometimes, I will write the same scene several times through the point of view of different characters until I find the one POV that resonates best with the story.
On the rare occasion my characters refuse to speak to me, I work on book covers.
4) What paranormal creatures or subjects would you like to write about? Why?
Lynn Nodima: After I finish the series I’m working on, I have ideas for several spin-off series. I would like to write about the world Magnus, my dragon shifter, came from, and why he is the only dragon (at least at this point in the stories) on Earth.
Magnus is a flawed character who has failed in his duty at least twice, once when King Arthur was killed, and again when Eric the Red was killed. For this reason, he can’t return to his home. I want to know more of his story. Since I’m basically a discovery writer, or a pantser, I have to write the story to know it.
5) What projects are you working on now?
Lynn Nodima: Right now, I’m working on finishing Wolf’s Duty, the last of the original twelve books in the Texas Ranch Wolf Pack Series. When that’s done, I plan to write a short story about one of the characters in the series.
And I’m starting to think about the Tala Ridge Shifters Series that I plan to write after the current series is finished.

Paranormal Romance Blog Tour 2019 Day 2: Sherry Perkins
Sherry Perkins is the author of the paranormal romance, At The End of the Rainbow.
Welcome back to the second day of the Paranormal Romance Blog Tour. I’d like to introduce you to our second featured author. Sherry Perkins has worked hard as a nurse for thirty-five years. She is a mother of four, and enjoys reading, collecting sea shells and sea glass, gardening, and following the “Dave Mathews” band around the country when they tour. Sherry was inspired to write her new book, At the End of the Rainbow, when she visited Ireland. I was able to ask her about her Halloween memories, why she likes to write paranormal romances, and what she has in store for us in regards to future projects..
1) What is your favorite Halloween costume or memory?
Sherry Perkins: I have two memories, both are equally weighted. One memory was of my childhood Halloween. We lived just outside Baltimore City, in a community jam-packed with row houses and a gazillion people. This was back in the sixties. My mom made me a witch costume that was black as night, long and flowing. I carried around the kitchen broom as a prop, and a paper grocery bag that I’d decorated with crayon drawings for a candy sack. I took my brothers and sisters with me to trick or treat. I was the big sister, and this was the first year we went out on our own. It’s kind of silly, really, but the memory is that we got 123 pieces of candy that night. Man, we cleaned up! It was special since I got to take my brothers and sister to 123 houses because they were having so much fun! Then it got dark, they got tired and we went home, skipping, with our bags full!
The second memory is of the first Halloween where my children went out on their own. They were so little but my oldest son was seven years older than his brother and sister. He explained to me he was grown up enough to do it. They only went around the block and thought it was such an adventure! They were all in homemade costumes — a hunter, a skeleton, and a nurse. The homeowner’s group had a Halloween parade first, and they all won for their age-groups which is what made this memory so dear!
2) Who is your favorite romance or paranormal author and how did they influence you?
Sherry Perkins: Oh, this is another tough one. My favorite romance writer – of all time – was Mary Stewart. She was famous in the seventies with her Merlin trilogy. The stories were mystical, semi-historical and beautifully written. Later she wrote a paranormal romance called “Thornyhold.” It was a neat little tale about a woman moving to a new home and finding love there in the village. She was a witch and, well, read the story.
As far as contemporary paranormal/romance writers, I really enjoy Charlaine Harris. She has several series including the Sookie Stackhouse novels, and the Midnight, Texas novels; those are my favorites.
Both authors have an easy writing style with great character development, perfectly scary or tension-filled moments and romance where you least expect it. Their stories are believable and immersive. I like the ebb and flow of relationships within the story line. It’s something I try to emulate.
3) Do you have a writing routine? What works for you.
Sherry Perkins: No, I don’t have a routine per se. I write whenever and wherever I can — in the morning before work, during lunch breaks at work, for a few hours at home after dinner. But, if I had my preference, I’d work between midnight and four. It’s very quiet then, with no distractions. But I don’t get to do that often, usually only during holidays and vacations.
I write until I feel like I’ve reached a natural stopping place. I don’t edit at first – just try to get the general form down. I edit once a week for spelling, grammar, punctuation and continuity and again after 100 pages, then at the conclusion of the project. I wait a month or two, do a second read through and make any changes before having someone read it from a purely reader’s perspective.
4) What paranormal creatures or subjects would you like to write about? Why?
Sherry Perkins: Most of my stories are about Celtic folklore: faeries, kelpie, selkies, brownies and trolls. They are depicted more like humans than not – with the added “species” characteristics of the stories we grew up with. And like the stories we grew up with, they are a shade on the darker side, which to me, often translates as human foibles and desires.
As a departure from Celtic tradition, I wrote a series of short stories about a woman who was abducted by aliens as a child and raised among them. The aliens have a bit of a shifter component, they’re dog-like, living a pack life because of something that happened in their evolution.
With both, the stories present the opportunity to explore human traits, behaviors, and circumstances that are perhaps less threatening than exploring societal issues head-on. When you cloak the story in the paranormal, or the make believe, it’s so much more subtle and personal, easier to generalize and be inclusive.
5) What projects are you working on now?
Sherry Perkins: Both my paranormal series have additional books and side stories. I’m working on a book of shadows (a magical cook book of a sort, lol) that ties back to the Will-o’-the-Wisp stories and what Morgan learns on her journey through Northern Ireland, Scotland and back to the States. It’s been a lot of fun. But books three and four of the Wisp series are in editing now.
That gives me the opportunity to work on the next short story in the alien shifter series. Those are “A Girl and Her Dog” adventures.
I’m also starting the next book in the cozy mystery series I’ve done with a country veterinarian and the newly elected sheriff. That’s the Dr. Butterbaugh series.
Oddly enough, all my paranormal romance stories are murder mysteries as well. I’m a big fan of blended genre. And not oddly, like many writers, I have a bunch of stories in development all at once!
At the End of the Rainbow is a modern day fairy story romance. Morgan Patterson visited Northern Ireland her senior year to get away from family drama and study. But she is easily distracted by gorgeous police sergeant, Tiernan Doherty. She starts to feel connected to him, maybe even bound. She is haunted by visions and dreams, with warnings that she may be harboring special abilities. Could the fairies of stories be true? Will she finally understand what she needs to about herself and those she loves before it is too late?
At the End of the Rainbow is available at Amazon.com.

Paranormal Romance Blog Tour 2019 Day 1: Lorri Moulton
[image error] I’d like to welcome you to day one of the Paranormal Romance Blog Tour! We kick off the first day of the blog tour with the fabulous author, Lorri Moulton. Lorri lives on a farm in Eastern Washington with five horses. She is inspired by the beautiful scenery around her, and loves to write in different genres such as fantasy, suspense, mysteries and paranormal romances. I had a chance to interview her and ask about her new book, Storm Front.
How did you get the idea for your current book?
Lorri Moulton: I’ve always wanted to write a spy story and adding a paranormal element seemed like a nice twist. Since Jazzmyn has lost her memory at the beginning of the story, it was easy to include a few surprises as she tries to find out what happened during those missing weeks.
Lorri Moulton is the author of the novel, Storm Front.
Who is your favorite character to write in your book? Why?
Lorri Moulton: Marta. She’s such a gray character and they’re always fun. Is she going to help Jazzmyn or cause more problems? And like everyone else, can she be trusted?
What inspirational advice would you give to a paranormal romance writer?
Lorri Moulton: For me, paranormal is the struggle for the character to find their place in the world. Having these abilities will set them apart…so is it wonderful, awful, somewhere in between? And how will that impact the romance?
What future projects do you have in store for us?
Lorri Moulton: I’m writing a second Jazzmyn Storm book that takes place in Hawaii…can you guess the name of that story? And I’m working on a romance between a witch and a wolf shifter in Victorian England. Should be a busy winter!
How would you summarize writing in one sentence?
Lorri Moulton: The best way to communicate your dreams with the rest of the world.
[image error]When a spy loses her memory, she doesn’t know who to trust or what to believe. When a person feels betrayed, how can they trust to love anyone? You feel vulnerable.
When it happens to a spy, it can be deadly.
Storm Front is available on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Kobo, iTunes/Apple, and other retailers.
Just in: If you leave a comment on this post, it will enter you to win a free audiobook of Storm Front. You have until the end of the day on Friday, Nov. 1 to enter.

Never Date A Vampire Released! Sequel to Never Marry A Warlock Now Available
It’s here! Finally, after some writer’s block, life events, and just plane hard work, Never Date A Vampire is now available. I am so excited to finally bring you more of the story of Cat, the witch, and her friends. This story focuses on Cassandra Sanders, her friend that was involved with her ex-husband, and takes place moments after the other series ends.
[image error]It’s called Never Date A Vampire, the first novella in the Beware of Vampires series. I was inspired by my favorite writer, Anne Rice. If it wasn’t for her, I wouldn’t have gotten into the paranormal genre and later paranormal romances. I dedicated the novel to her, and to all of my fans that have kept me going. I even had a copy of the Vampire Chronicles by me as I wrote.
[image error]So, without further adieu, here is the blurb about the new novella:
A trip to Las Vegas can be the most fun of your life.
But what if you know witches and warlocks?
What other creatures could there be in the Las Vegas paranormal underground?
Cassandra Sanders has witnessed a messy witch divorce. Things have blown apart behind her as her friends fought with a warlock. Now, she rides to the Stratosphere with her witch and warlock friends thinking that the worst is behind her. Throw in an Elvis impersonator, and you already have a good time planned ahead. But she wonders, what about her? She’s all-alone in Las Vegas. What could go wrong if she played some blackjack?
The meeting of a mysterious stranger doesn’t alarm Cass. After a casual drink, she seems to start to lose her will. Is she losing her mind? Drawn to him, she knows that maybe, this was too good to be true. He was too perfect. But in the world of the paranormal underground, where witches and warlocks played, what else should she be afraid of? Will she find out when she reaches his hotel room?
Experience what Cass finds out about the Las Vegas paranormal underground in this new series by Marilyn Vix, a sequel to the Beware of Warlocks series.
