A king and a lionheart. *update*

I like telling stories. I like sitting down at a computer and creating elaborate worlds and wild characters. At parties or get togethers, I am that girl standing in the middle of a group, a beer in one hand, the other hand wildly gesturing, acting out something that happened in real life. This is what I do. I tell stories. Real, make believe, fiction, non-fiction, it doesn't matter. Some people simply live it and that's enough. Then there's people like me. Who find the joy in the retelling.  ...

UPSIDE DOWN Rafflecopter.

The loveliest lovely Lia Riley's New Adult book UPSIDE DOWN, the first in her OFF THE MAP series, is releasing August 5th and I'm not joking even a little bit when I say that I am so ridiculously excited for it. And not just because I might have a somewhat massive girl crush on Lia and a definite crush on her incredibly good-looking cover model. But also that too.

As if this wasn't all awesome enough, Lia and her publisher, Grand Central, are hosting a Hogwarts-style magical rafflecopter....

The Writing Process Blog Hop 2014

I was tagged by the loveliest of lovelies, Lia Riley, to chime in on this blog hop. Lia is the author of the New Adult OFF THE MAP series, with book one, UPSIDE DOWN, releasing August 5th. I do not say this just because I fangirl her ridiculously hard or because we grew up a stone's throw away from each other, but I'm insanely excited to get my hands on these books. Her ridiculously good-looking cover model only plays the slightest of roles in that excitement. No. Really. It should also be note...

And why the sea is boiling hot, and whether pigs have wings.

PREVIOUSLY ON I USE THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS QUOTES FOR CAVE UPDATES TITLES:
'The time has come,' the Walrus said. 'To talk of many things.''Of ships and shoes and sealing-wax. Of cabbages and kings.'
You don't have to click those. I was just looking for an excuse to show my cleverness quote that.
So -- News! Updates! Rambling! What's happening over here in Chez Wyllys! Honestly, I could do a newsletter every month, other authors do it and it seems like a very author-y act...

Finding Preach on a corner in Ann Arbor.

Back in Michigan where I grew up, Ann Arbor was the place to go when there was nothing else to do.
image taken from mlive.
When we were underage, a trip there mostly consisted of going to Pinball Pete's or walking around campus, not exactly pretending to be a student at UofM but not exactly not either. Occasionally we'd try to get into frat parties. Sometimes we were successful.
Once we got older, after I'd moved away but still visited frequently because I was a gypsy of a girl that couldn...

This post is Ten approved.

I actually had another post scheduled for today (now y'all know my introvert secret. I schedule posts in case my desire to hide away from society in my cave becomes too strong) but I'm tossing it aside in lieu of this one. With Wild Ones being out for over nearly a month now, there's been a lot of questions as to physical copies which in turns leads to me explaining the whole "digital first" thing. Pair that with the fact that publishing in general is the internet topic right now, and the Car...

Let's have an arson party!

So WILD ONES has been out for just under a month! How crazy is that? So crazy. Have you read it? Did you like it? JUST KIDDING OMG DON'T TELL ME. Instead, go this way: and tell everyone what you thought. Seriously. Even if you hated it, even if you think I should forcefully have my keyboard ripped away from me, go tell people. Because that's how people find out about books, good or bad. When you tell someone. And books are a glorious drug, aren't they?
But while we're on the subject of telling...

I'm probably the last person you should ask for advice.

I find myself suddenly in this weird position where I'm being asked for writing/publishing advice and it both thrills and baffles me every time. Never in my life did I think I would be someone people came to seeking advice, unless that advice was about some weird, hillbilly/hippy home remedy. Or maybe something IEP related. Those are always my areas of expertise and I wouldn't so much say expertise as I'd say something I kinda sorta know about and there's no one more knowledgeable to ask at t...
