Our teacher said reading about Anne Frank’s feelings in the diary made boys in past classes feel uncomfortable. The play provided distance from the interiority revealed in the diary. This made the play more appropriate.

I was upset and read the diary on my own, probably trying to find the juicy internal thoughts that made boys feel  so uncomfortable. Of course I came up short. Anne Frank doesn’t describe anything particularly titillating or scandalous. She has thoughts and feelings and crushes and parent problems. She thinks about her body. She worries about her future, which, as we all know, was tragically cut short. Anne is a person. That it was more acceptable to discuss a character than an actual human being sent a strong (and I’m sure unintended) message to the boys in our class: it’s okay to ignore the experiences of women, especially if they make you uncomfortable.

fantastiquejacques:

amber heard has done literally every single thing that everyone has insisted an abused woman should do –

she has photographic evidence

she has video evidence
she has two witnesses to the assault, one who tried to separate them and another who heard it begin and was begged to call 911
she has multiple witnesses in depp’s security team
she called the police
she filed for a restraining order, which was granted to her, meaning that a united states judge found her evidence convincing enough to believe that she was in danger

she filed for divorce

and news reports are still acting as though there is no way that amber heard could be telling the truth

This story was different actually??? And even better???

The girl, Brooklyn Andracke, used to wave at the truck every thursday and the trashman waved her back. It was a very important to her to do it every week.

It was HER birthday, and she decided that she wanted to share her birthday cake with the trashman. She also wanted to meet her hero, whose name is Delvar Dopson.

The girl’s mother thanked Delvar for his work and explained to him how important it is for Brooklyn to wave at him every thursday.

He was pretty surprised but he admitted that every time he drove near the house he hoped that the girl would wave at him.

That’s not the end of the story though. Next week Delvar had a surprise for the little girl.

He brought her a bunch of amazing birthday gifts!

They both got quite popular, and Delvar is getting a lot of thank you messages from trashmen from all over the world for representing them in such a good way.

The real story is even cuter

“But Batman donates money to charity too” have you ever considered how much more of that he could do if he wasn’t spending billions of dollars to develop experimental stealth aircraft to use against street crime

batmans not real

^^^

Why do people want to read a 30-page monthly comic about Bruce Wayne cutting checks to charity so goddamn bad

i’ve been working 3+ years in a job during which i’ve seen hundreds of women’s bodies in a medical context

lemme tell you a thing

women are fucking hairy, ok? i’ve seen women covered with hair from their ankles to their armpits. women with super visible pubic hair that approaches their bellybuttons, regardless of race/ethnicity. we have hair absolutely everywhere and our public image as women is totally devoid of this reality.

men really have no idea how hard women have to work to make ourselves hairless. it’s as unnatural for us as it is for them but this is something that doesn’t even cross their minds as they emerge from their caves looking like unwashed wookies not even aware of how much they’re just allowed to exist.
