I’m sorry if I’ve ever been that toxic person in someone’s life &/or hindered anyone’s growth. Even in the smallest of ways

this gets funnier every year
The year is 2042. Your daughter is awkwardly silent as she eats her dinner. “Something wrong sweetie?” She sighs and puts down her fork. “I was digging really deep in AO3 last night…Why didn’t you finish that coffee shop au?” It happened. Your past has come back to haunt you. Nay, it never truly left.
U CANNOT OUTRUN UR CRIME
OKAY BUT WAIT. This has happened to me. Recently. Because I am old and I have things out there from previous fandoms with previous pseuds and one day my teenager begins a rant at me about people never finishing any WIPs on the pit of voles (which he does not call the pit of voles because he has No Knowledge of such a thing but yet he still reads on which I didn’t think anyone did any longer) and he points out an example to me of something I WROTE AND LEFT WIPing for ages and he has NO IDEA #1 that his mom wrote this and #2 How much it still haunts me to this day that it will. sit. there. for. eternity. because I am too lazy to pull it down.
oh my god
#why didn’t you finish cleaning your room?#IDK MOM WHY DIDN’T YOU FINISH THE RON/DRACO MERMAID AU?

I love how internet (as opposed to Usenet) fandom is now old enough that this is a legitimate problem.
Mass shooting at a Texas Church

Im just so….tired. and angry.
Yall. The shooter was the same age as me, went to the same high school as a lot of my friends did.
Fuckin hell. I probably saw this dude graduate.

In case you were wondering what kind of person Devin Patrick Kelley was.
He was kicked out of the Air Force for assaulting his wife and kid, and this was the kind of thing he regularly posted on facebook.
Don’t let them try to paint him as some sad, mentally ill loner. He was an angry, violent conservative misogynist.
The number one thing mass shooters have in common is a history of violence against women. This has been true over and over and over again but is almost never reported on. Don’t ever forget this when people say you’re “too sensitive” for pointing out misogyny.
He fractured his toddler’s skull… He also abused animals. Everybody who knows him says this shooting isn’t surprising which makes me wonder why he was able to legally purchase a weapon + why he wasn’t incarcerated for doing bodily injury to his wife and baby.

Sometimes it is your fault.. Sometimes you don’t listen well enough, you’re selfish, you’re rude and you aren’t always right. Sometimes you fucked it up and tbh that’s okay. It happens, learn from it, apologize and keep it moving. Just because you fucked up doesn’t mean you’re a bad person. Don’t dwell on it
Repair it, accept it, move on.

It’s sad how much of what is taught in school is useless to over 99% of the population.
There are literally math concepts taught in high school and middle school that are only used in extremely specialized fields or that are even so outdated they aren’t used anymore!
I took calculus my senior year of high school, and I really liked the way our teacher framed this on the first day of class.
He asked somebody to raise their hand and ask him when we would use calculus in our everyday life. So one student rose their hand and asked, “When are we going to use this in our everyday life?”
“NEVER!!” the teacher exclaimed. “You will never use calculus in your normal, everyday life. In fact, very few of you will use it in your professional careers either.” Then he paused. “So would you like to know why should care?”
Several us nodded.
He picked out one of the varsity football players in the class. “You practice football a lot during the week, right Tim?” asked the teacher.
“Yeah,” replied Tim. “Almost every day.”
“Do you and your teammates ever lift weights during practice?”
“Yeah. Tuesdays and Thursdays we spend a lot of practice in the weight room.”
“But why?” asked the teacher. “Is there ever going to be a play your coach tells you use during a game that requires you to bench press the other team?”
“No, of course not.”
“Then why lift weights?”
“Because it makes us stronger,” said Tim.
“Bingo!!” said the teacher. “It’s the same thing with calculus. You’re not here because you’re going to use calculus in your everyday life. You’re here because calculus is weightlifting for your brain.”
And I’ve never forgotten that.
