Excerpt
“So, um. When will I meet the last one? My last fiancé?”Henry and Rafe exchanged a glance. Even Jonas had opened his eyes and stood up straighter again.“Well,” Henry said, drawing out the word, “we were thinking about having dinner tonight all together. Over at the house. The one that will be ours once we are married.”Shay could feel Charlie’s blood boiling from across the room.Rafe broke in before he could erupt. “But if that’s too much at once, babe, we can wait. There’s no r—”Shay just shook her head, though, waving their concerns away. “When does the marriage become official?”Another significant glance was exchanged. But Charlie was apparently done holding his opinions to himself. “This is insane. There’s no way we’re letting them force you into any of this—”“Charlie,” Shay said, loud enough that it stopped his tirade before it really got legs. “I want to hear what they have to say.”This was going to happen her way or not at all. The sooner she got them all on an equal playing field, the better.Charlie ground his teeth together, a vein standing out in his neck.Shay took a deep breath and looked back to Rafe and Henry. “Well?”Rafe held out a hand for Henry, like this one’s all yours. Henry narrowed his eyes in return, but he spoke up, looking back to Shay. “The wedding usually takes place a few weeks after the lottery. After we’ve all had a chance to get acquainted with each other and feel comfortable enough to share a living space.” Henry held up a hand like he was anticipating resistance. “That doesn’t mean we’re expected to share a bed right away, though.”“But it is expected eventually,” Charlie growled, turning on Henry.Henry shrugged reluctantly but Shay spoke over both of them.“All of that’s ridiculous anyway.”That got everyone’s attention. They all looked her way. Charlie was smiling, while Henry just looked confused. Shay couldn’t read the expression on Jonas’s coolly appraising face and Rafe simply looked interested.“Wha—” Henry started to ask but Shay spoke over him, impatient to have this part done with.“It’s ridiculous to wait that long. We should get married as soon as possible. Tonight even.” The moment the words came out of her mouth, she knew it was exactly what she wanted.“Shay!” Charlie exploded. “What the hell are you thinking?”Shay let out a long breath and walked over to him. She took both of his hands and looked up into his worried, green eyes. “I’m not your sister.”  She felt his flinch, but it had to be said. “I don’t need you to protect me. I knew what would be expected of me before we even left Travisville. And I was fine with it. I still am.”She was more than fine with it. Looking between the four of them, she felt the quiver start deep in her sex. Wrong as it probably was, she looked forward to fucking these four men. And the fifth who was still a stranger. You’re my whore. Jason’s words rang in her head. My perfect little fucking whore. Not tonight. She squared her jaw. Jason wouldn’t be anywhere nearby as she took these men into her body. Tonight she’d belong to herself. And she’d take as much as she gave. More, maybe. But Charlie just kept stubbornly shaking his head back and forth. He leaned down and whispered fervently in her ear. “We don’t have to stay. I’ve seen Audrey. I know she’s alive. I can get you out, get you somewhere safe, then come back for her and—”Shay let out an exasperated huff. Why wouldn’t he listen to her? Men never listened. They just assumed they knew best and, because there were more of them, they got to run everything. It was crap. She spun on Charlie. “So everything you said last night in the Commander’s office—about how a woman should be able to choose. Was that just bullshit?”“What? Of course not. That’s my whole point. This lottery system gives you no ch—”“This is what I choose,” she spoke over him. “Sex isn’t a big deal to me. If it is to you, fine, you don’t have to join us—but that’s your problem, not mine. I want you there, but if you can’t handle it, let me know now.”Charlie’s mouth dropped open. “Shay…”But she just shook her head. “What’s waiting around for three weeks going to get me? It’ll just drive me crazy. I know what I want and I’m ready.  So we do it tonight.” She looked over to Jonas. “You’re a preacher, right?”“Former preacher.” He watched her with a dark, intense look. She couldn’t tell if it was disapproval or attraction. She waved a hand. “Whatever. Can you still do wedding ceremonies?”He nodded solemnly.“Good. Then after dinner, when the last man gets there, I want you to perform the ceremony. Just something small and intimate. Only the six of us.”One after the other, she looked each of them in the eye. “But we get married tonight.”

Stasia was born in Georgia, grew up in Texas, recently spent a freezing five-year stint in Minnesota, and now is happily planted in sunny California, which she will never, ever leave.
She loves writing, reading, listening to podcasts, and has recently taken up biking after a twenty-year sabbatical (and has the bumps and bruises to prove it). She lives with her own personal cheerleader, aka, her handsome husband, and their teenage son. Wow. Typing that makes her feel old. And writing about herself in the third person makes her feel a little like a nutjob, but ahem! Where were we?
Stasia’s drawn to romantic stories that don’t take the easy way out. She wants to see beneath people’s veneer and poke into their dark places, their twisted motives, and their deepest desires. Boy in the Mirror

Young Adult Urban Fantasy/HorrorDate Published: December 31, 2016Publisher: TRO Publishing
 photo add-to-goodreads-button_zpsc7b3c634.png
Fifteen-year-old Jacqueline Talbot’s boyfriend Mal lives in the mirror of her makeup case. There’s never been anything normal about Jacqueline; not during her time in foster care, and certainly not in her new hometown of Mercy Hills.
With rumors of actual monsters in the woods, the popular kids taking an unhealthy interest in her, and the revealing of her own dark past, all Jacqueline wants to do is run away forever with Mal. Too bad he’s trapped in the mirror.
But when she learns the ancient forces of the town want to destroy everything she loves, the race is on to free the boy in the mirror, because he just might be the only one who knows how to stop them.

Excerpt
Olivia tripped, falling on her rump with a yelp. Jacqueline continued to kick out her feet, trying to scurry away from the lurching monstrosity as fast as she could. She tried to get her anger to rise up again, to feel the strength of her rage as she had when Papa Gelick attacked her, but it remained hidden, locked away, out of reach. This wasn’t confronting some boisterous kid in a high school hallway. This was real. This was dangerous.
And Jacqueline was afraid.
“Get away!” Annette’s voice shouted. “Don’t come any closer!”
Jacqueline’s friends rushed forward. Ronni helped Jacqueline to her feet while Annette did the same for Olivia. Neil stepped toward the man with the knife with his phone held up, the flashlight on the back shining. The man held up his hand to shield his eyes. Jacqueline shrugged away from Ronni and joined Neil’s side, trying not to be completely terrified.
The man dropped his hand and leered at them. Neil kept his arm raised, the wavering light revealing a haggard, forty-something adult with a patchy beard, messed-up teeth, and beady eyes. The guy wore a beaten-up leather duster and grimy jeans. He took another step toward them, which prompted Neil to hastily retreat and stumble over his own feet.
“Little pig, little pig, let me in,” the man growled as Neil fell. His beady eyes shifted in Jacqueline’s direction. “Not by the hair of my—”
His mouth abruptly snapped shut, his jaw twitched, his cheeks sagged. Jacqueline froze, not sure what to do. Finally, the brute turned tail and dashed across the parking lot, looking like he was headed for the thin line of woods on the mall’s west end.
Jacqueline wasn’t sure if the danger was over. She heard Olivia sobbing behind her. “I’m so sorry…I’m so sorry…my cousin was mugged last week…what’s wrong with this town?” Jacqueline stepped toward the darkened area between the two cars, where the second shadow still lay. The victim. Jacqueline knelt on wet pavement. She touched the body, and it flinched.
“Please…” whispered a weak, female voice.
“Guys!” Jacqueline called out over her shoulder. “Neil, call 9-1-1!”About the Author

Prey by Cari Silverwood

Title: PreyA Dark Monster Fantasy Novel
Author: Cari SilverwoodGenre: Sci-Fi RomanceRelease Date: May 31, 2018

Blurb
When Mila discovers her sister will be the next victim on Sacrifice Day, her normal reply would be, sorry, I'm busy.
After viewing ancient data and seeing the massive size of stoneshifters, Mila decides to rescue Tiana. Her sister is blood and she'd rather not see her tied to the sacrifice table and turned into jam.
Everything goes wrong, of course.
Lord Zarblu, stoneshifter and owner of the enormous black fortress looming over the city, turns his gaze upon Mila.
Like a giant cat with a teensy mouse, Zarblu plays with Mila. Catch...release...catch. Gentle and caring are words that no stone-beast monster should claim, surely?
Desiring something that might kill you is insane yet the sacrifice table begins to look attractive. Zarblu is a big, strong, determined male who's had a thousand, thousand years to contemplate life.
What if he isn't quite the monster she thought he was...What if he wants her to be his sacrifice?
Warning: This is a very graphic and carnal story for those who love the fantasy of being caught by a monster.
This is not the normal level of dark that Cari Silverwood writes. This is the dark you reach for when you're all darked out and one step from seeing your therapist. Some of this story is FUN. Dark dubcon fun, but fun nevertheless.

Fallen angels and reawakened desire, promises and grudges—a stunning novel in Virginia Cantrell’s Divine series continues, featuring Inaya and Trevin as they race to save the world of the Nephilim from a deadly enemy.

Adopted into the royal family, Inaya has never felt like she belonged, but when the kingdom is overthrown, the Nephilim look to her for guidance. In order to save all she holds dear, she must join forces with the soldier who broke her heart and destroyed her belief in love.

Driven by duty and haunted by the past, Trevin doesn’t make mistakes… until Inaya. His misguided honor cost him the courageous, impulsive beauty he swore to protect. With Inaya needing him now more than ever, he has the chance to prove his worth. But it may be too late to earn back her trust.

An unearthly enemy, the fallen angel Lahash, has vowed to destroy the Nephilim to right the sins of his past. With his plan set in motion and his fate tied to Inaya’s, the world of the Nephilim will never be the same.

As soon as they entered the dining area, Caeden’s eyes were immediately drawn to Amira, just as Inaya had known they would be. He wasted no time approaching and requesting a private moment with Amira. Inaya gave her an encouraging smile before she left them to, hopefully, sort things out.
A hand snapped forward and firmly grabbed Inaya’s arm as she entered the seating area, effectively stopping her at the entryway. She barely withheld a yelp, which would no doubt attract everyone’s attention. Jerking her head to the right, she found eyes the color of molten chocolate staring down at her, threating to draw her into their spell.
“Trevin.” It came out as a husky whisper.
“The seating arrangements could not be altered, but I trust you will take heed of our earlier conversation. You may be polite, but you will not pursue Sorin’s attention,” Trevin decreed.
Inaya ripped her arm from his grasp. “I don’t need you to instruct me on how to behave. I’ve been adequately put in my place once already today and reminded not to interfere with my betters.”
“How’s that?” His body was tense and his eyes fierce.
She felt a flutter in her lower belly, the unwanted attraction flaring at his intensity and show of strength. She shifted away from him and tried for a look of indifference. “Nothing for you to worry about.”
Trevin quickly scanned the room before his eyes came back to her. “We’ll discuss it later.” His warm hand settled on the small of her back as he escorted Inaya to her seat. “For now, safeguard yourself from unnecessary trouble, for both of us,” he said the last on a whisper in her ear as he helped her settle in her seat before taking his position across the room to stand guard. Her eyes followed him the entire way.
“I didn’t realize this was a charity event.” Sorin’s snide comment reached her from across the table, as he had intended.
Inaya was temporarily distracted by Marcelle choking on her water at Sorin’s comment, but quickly turned back to address him. “Meaning?”
“Meaning the rest of us are forced to endure the company of a street urchin,” he gave her a scathing once-over before continuing, “because King Vidar is weak-willed and gullible, which works out well for you, but is unfortunate for the rest of us.”
Inaya could practically feel the hatred being thrown at her through Sorin’s words. Her brief interactions with him in the past hadn’t been pleasant, but never had he spoken to her in this manner before. Too stunned to speak, she glanced to the head of the table where King Vidar sat conversing with Lord Donovan, Lady Ferrara, and Kearney, the new scout.
Inaya was grateful the king hadn’t heard the slight against him, but as the shock wore off, indignation and hurt began to surface, quickly followed by untamed fury. Just as she opened her mouth, ready to let this arrogant swine know exactly what she thought of him, Amira came sweeping in the room, gaining everyone’s attention. Always the proper princess, Amira greeted each of her guests before taking her seat at the end of the table opposite of her father.

Excerpt
Those little bitty shorts ride up her tight ass as she walks. I want to put my hands on it. Press my cock up against it as I kiss her neck, gathering her hair into one hand and move it over her shoulder.I swallow hard. I can’t think like that. Not here. Not now.Not ever.“Are you done?” Quinn puts one hand on her hip and for a split second I think she knows what I’m thinking.“Yeah,” I say, picking up my last piece of bacon. I pop it in my mouth and stand, bringing my plate over to the sink. Quinn takes it from me and bends over to let the dogs lick the remnants of eggs. Her ass is in the air right in front of me, and I wonder if she’s doing it on purpose to get a rise out of me.Because she is, and I have to change my stance thanks to my hardening cock.“Quinn,” I start, not sure what to say, but I have to say something. “We should talk.”“About what?” She straightens up and rounds on me, crossing her arms. Her eyes meet mine, drilling in with an intensity I’ve never seen from her. She has little flecks of blue in her brilliant green irises that I haven’t noticed before.I move closer, stepping over Boots. If I say it now, there will be no more wondering. No more waiting. She’ll either take me or leave me, but at least I’ll know. I can kiss her now or move on. Somehow, someway. It’s not hard. All I have to do is open my mouth and let the words come out, speaking with unwavering vehemence as I tell her how I feel.Yet, I can’t.Standing here looking at Quinn, with her messy hair, thick sweater hiding her perfect tits, and dogs circling around her feet in hopes of more food, I feel more nervous that I did the first time I stood in front of a patient on the operating table with a scalpel in my hand.“Archer?”“Your wrist. How’s your wrist?”“My wrist?” she questions, nostrils flaring. She lets out a sigh and picks up the plate the dogs licked clean. “Same as yesterday. I ordered a posture brace on Amazon to help with my shoulder pain, not that you care.”I’d offer to massage her shoulders, but the moment my hands land on her back, all bets are off.Suddenly, Quinn advances. She’s inches away, arms crossed tightly over her chest and head tipped up to mine.“That’s not what you wanted to talk about.” She pulls her bottom lip between her teeth and cocks her head. “Is it?”“Quinn.”“Don’t Quinnme, Archer Jones. You know as well as I do you weren’t going to talk to my about my wrist.” She lets out a frustrated breath and lets her arms fall to the sides. Her fingers brush against me, and my skin feels electric just from that small touch.Goddammit.“But fine. I’ll play that game. Here.” She holds up her hand. “Examine me, doctor.”Her words are meant to mock, but they do the opposite. I’ll examine every inch of her body. Twice. Three times. Just to be certain nothing was missed.I take her wrist and tug her forward, knocking her off balance so she falls against me, both her hands flat on my chest. I slip my other hand around her waist, stopping at the small of her back. Quinn’s lips part and she gasps.Instead of struggling to get away, she relaxes in my arms, and nothing has ever felt more right.Even though this is wrong.Quinn is in my arms, back arched and tits against my chest. My cock is hard, pulsing against the confines of my jeans. Thunder booms above and Quinn shivers.“Do you still want to talk?” My voice is gruffer than I intend, but the harshness does something for Quinn. She slides her hands up my chest and around my shoulders.“There are other things I’d rather do,” she says, voice breathy. Fuck. She’s killing me. She brushes her hips against mine, feeling my erection through my pants. “And I think you would too.”I do. I so fucking do and she knows it.“Archer,” she says softly and hearing her whisper my name is almost enough to make me come right then and there. I slowly bring my face down to hers. I’m going to kiss her. After all this time, it’s finally fucking happening.

Cross Jacobs was a screw-up.

Everyone knew it, especially him, and the point was hammered home when Kallie Welch drove herself right out of his life.

But, she’s back.

Seeing Cross wasn’t on Kallie’s to-do list. She didn’t think she could avoid him forever but trying never hurt anyone. One minute she’s standing by herself and the next she’s accosted by a rich, velvety scent that could only belong to one man: Cross.

At face value, he’s divine. All rugged and confident with a smile that melts her right where she’s standing. It doesn’t take long to find him to be charming, witty, and the owner of a few legitimate businesses. Not at all like the mischievous boy she left.

He laughs and her heart flutters. With a touch of his hand, she’s dizzy. She’s fairly certain she’s going to die when he pulls her into an embrace and touches his lips to her forehead.

It feels right. It feels so right.

But is it?
Note: This novella was originally released in the Team Player Anthology last winter. It has been updated a bit with a few new chapters to round out the story.

Excerpt
Chapter OneCross
“Where have you been in that thing?” Machlan shouts. The roar of his muscle car’s engine winds down and he clicks the transmission into park. The purplish-black paint shines in the early afternoon sun. Having just backed out of a parking spot onto Main Street, I check my rearview mirror. No one is coming. “Bluebird Hill,” I tell him. “After all that rain last night, I figured I’d test the new tires Walker put on my truck last week.”“You’re a fuckin’ kid.” He laughs. “Says the man driving that,” I tease, pointing at his ride.“I’m not sure what your point is. This car is the baddest thing in town.” He punches the gas, the motor roaring like a banshee.Glancing around at Doc Burns’ office with two cars in the parking lot and the Linton County History Museum across the street that only opens for the Water Festival once a year, I grin. “That’s not saying much.”“Go to Hell.” His hand slips through his dark hair and over his chin. The amusement in his features evaporates as I watch … and cringe. I know this look. I know all of his looks, actually, a by-product of being his best friend as long as I can remember. Many of them concern me and a lot of them worry me. But this one? It’s a flashing red sign with Vegas-inspired lights. The thing is, I can’t just ignore it. When this look comes, so does the topic of my sister and, even though I love the both of them, I wouldn’t mind seeing them in a padded room until they fix whatever it is between them that is so broken. With a sigh, I jam my truck into park too. “Yes,” I say, answering the question he’s yet to ask. “Hadley called and isn’t coming home this weekend. She said maybe next week.”His jaw works back and forth as he stares down the street. “Why?”That single word is spit with a lifetime of emotion. Machlan has loved my sister since the day she moved to Linton with our father and me when our mother died. She was fourteen and innocent and he was fifteen and infatuated. Through the years, they were off and on and together and not—at least officially. Everyone knew Machlan and Hadley were one and the same. I’m not sure why she moved away from here. Being both her brother and his best friend precluded me from certain information, which is for the best. They both drive me nuts without having the details. “Not sure,” I reply. “She left a voicemail last night saying she wouldn’t be home today. She didn’t pick up when I called her back.”He flips his gaze to me. “You didn’t talk to her after that?”“She’s a big girl, Mach,” I mock. “I’m sure she had shit to do.”“Yeah.” His fingers regrip the steering wheel as his jaw goes back to work again. “I’m gonna go wash this before I head back to the gym—”“She’s all right, though. Right?” he interrupts. His face is stone-cold sober. “I mean …”“She’s fine.”He waits. Blinks. Re-grips the wheel again. “That’s it?”Popping my truck into drive, I blow out a breath. “Yeah, that’s it. You want to know more? Call her. What a fucking amazing concept.”“Yeah. I’ll get right on that,” he snips back. “You should. Then you could quit this whole thing.”“Got nothin’ to quit, man. Just being a decent guy.”A decent guy. It’s my turn to turn my knuckles white on the steering wheel. Machlan isn’t a decent guy. He’s a fucking great one … much better than the guy Hadley is seeing now. A guy I haven’t mentioned to Mach since I got home a couple of weeks ago from visiting her. I’m not mentioning him, either. I’ll save the boyfriend an ER bill and myself the bail money. I can’t blame him. It has to be hard to see Hadley with another guy when, in Machlan’s mind, she’s his girl. My stomach twists like it always does when my mind goes down this road. At least my girl didn’t bring other guys back with her. Hell, she didn’t even come back at all. “Here comes Kip,” Machlan says, bringing me out of my reverie. Nodding toward the road in front of him, he laughs. “I’m not moving.”I twist in my seat to see the sheriff coming toward us. He blares the siren twice as if to get us to move. We don’t. Machlan pokes his head out of the window. “Need somethin’?” he shouts. Laughing, I watch Kip’s car slide carefully between Machlan’s and the curb on the other side. “You can’t park in the street!” Kip yells.“What are ya gonna do about it?” I holler.“Take ya both in.”“Don’t you have somewhere to be?” Machlan asks. “Someone to protect and serve? Or service, if I know you?”Kip shakes his head as Machlan flips him the bird. The sirens come on again before Kip hits the gas and speeds off down the street and vanishes over the hill. When I look back at Machlan, his attention is on his phone. “What?” I ask, curious about the smile on his face. He looks at me and laughs. Sticking the phone in the cup holder, he shrugs. “Nothing. But can you do me a favor?”“No.”“I need help moving a couple of things at Crave. Come help me. Just for a few.”“What’s in it for me?” I ask. “A beer?”Throwing the truck in neutral, I rev the engine. It barely sounds before his is screaming over top of mine and we jet off in opposite directions. I get to a stop sign at the end of the street and do a quick one-eighty to head to Crave.
