Excerpt 1
My entire body pulses in the wake of his touch. His words âif you were mineâ keep circling around in my head, and with each rotation, something inside me grows. He makes me feel happy and less broken. I feel I could take on the world as long as heâs beside me. Whatever he is, I donât care. Iâve never felt anything like this, and Iâll go to Hell and back to keep it. Regardless of what happens to me, I have to protect him. I have to keep him safe, always. He grins and squeezes my hand again. My body responds with such intensity, I almost feel as if I were floating. I donât want it to ever stop. I want to stay strong. I want to be brave. I want to feel safe. He gives me all of that. I want to hold him forever, even if itâs only his hand. âTomorrow,â he says, pulling me from my thoughts. âIâll find a way to see you.â âPromise?â
Excerpt 2
My heart flutters. I really do like MJ. I blush and pop a few grapes into my mouth. As ecstatic as that makes me feel, I still donât know, fully, if I can trust himânot until I know what he is. âSo ⦠you still havenât answered my original question. Government experiment, superhero, or something else. Which is it?â He sighs, shaking his head. âI wasnât created in a lab somewhere.â âWhat about an alien?â âNo.â âMutant?â âNo.â âWarlock?â âWouldnât that fall under the category of magician?â âMagicians are usually fake. Warlocks and witches could be real. So are you one?â âNo.â Stumped, I rest my chin on my hand and huff in exasperation. âGive up?â he asks. âNo. But Iâve made some good progress on my list.â âYou have a list?â âUh huh.â I toss a few more grapes into my mouth. âOf what you think I might be?â I nod. âI donât suppose you could just let it go?â I narrow my eyes at him. âIf I did a bunch of crazy things that you couldnât explain, would you let it go?â He smirks and shakes his head. âYou win.
Excerpt 3
âNow say if you had changed even one of those things, your destiny would be completely different.â I know which fork I would choose to redo if I could. Itâs the same one Iâve regretted time and time again. If I could go back, I would have never rejected his first kiss. Damien smiles. âSay, for example, this alternate-reality dream of yours is one where we kissed the first night. Everything would have been different between us. However, it is because you rejected my kiss that I looked at you differently. It is because you were sent away that I missed you. It is because you were promised to another man that I came there that night, which ultimately led to us being together now. As much as I wished we had kissed the first night, I am glad we did not. I, for one, like this path much better.â

Weâre East coast girls separated by Long Island Sound who met in Physician Assistant School and have been besties ever since. We can safely say that thirteen miles of water does not get in the way because we talk or text, no exaggeration, at least 150 times a day. No, really, we doâabout everything and nothing. Shockingly, we never (we mean never) run out of things to say. Umm, ever. We definitely laugh A LOT and weâre a tad sarcastic. And if weâre being totally honest, one or two people might have, on occasion, used our names and âdramaticâ in the same sentence. But itâs hard to trust the sources since they married us.
It only took twelve years, two husbands, five kids, two dogs, and a two-week vacation in Cape Cod later to decide the romance world needed a splash of medicine. Write what you know. So you can easily find us at 4 o'clock on Bank Street beach with a glass of cold Prosecco brainstorming. And guaranteed if we bump into you, literally, itâs only because our iPhones are glued to our hands (totally out of our control) either writing or editing our next novel (and yes, it is possible to do from your iPhone, we mastered it ⦠damn those straight quotations).
When we are not working on our book or reading the latest angsty romance on our kindles, you basically name it and we have it going on. Soccer, lacrosse, golf, swimming, dance, gymnastics, football, chess, baseball, basketball, skiing, ice skating, school, homework, and more school. Oh yeah, did we forget to mention our careers in medicine?
Needless to say, we realized fast that something had to go, so we opted for sleep. Itâs completely overrated (yet so AMAZING) and delirium makes everything funnier. Good thing we share a brain and can pretty much complete each otherâs sentences (definitely weird, we know), otherwise it might have taken us two years to write Beautifully Awake rather than one.

But will Graham’s possessive nature save her from the demons of her past, or be another experience she must survive? Add to Goodreads ~TEMPTED TEASER~Hello, gorgeous creeper. Silently, he extended his hand filled with my things. I had no choice but to sweep my fingers over his palm never expecting a zapping current to pass between us. I shivered, jerking my arm backward as the electrical jolt raced up my arm before discharging. I gasped when it landed deep in my belly. Distracted by my reaction, I made the mistake of meeting his gaze. His dark eyes in the daylight were bottomless, and his attention had my pulse in a race, but where the heck was the finish line? “Thank you,” I mumbled. “I can manage.” I wished he’d stopped helping me since I was coming undone. “No question. Still I want to make certain you’re all right.” Once more our gazes locked, and the effect was like entering into a timeless chasm. So, there I was kneeling on the ground, unprepared for the cauterizing heat of staring into his eyes at close range. It was all too much. I ground my teeth with the need to get away before I did something incredibly stupid. “Look, that’s nice. But I’m fine and really don’t need any help out here.” “Not a second ago.” He snorted a laugh. “Luckily, this machine basically drives itself and brakes fast and hard. Really, you could’ve been hurt if it’d been another car and driver.” The way he said fast and hard had me sputtering as the words echoed within my mind, sending a swarm of butterflies housed in my stomach into flight. Yep, I remembered, he did that to me. He offered the last few items he’d picked up and I reached for them, brushing my fingers over his. “Well, bully for me.” The words slipped out of my mouth. No way to pull them back, so I finished with, “This isn’t NASCAR, you know.” Without a break, his brow lifted. Game on. “Nor the Boston Marathon, sweetheart.” “Humble much?” I asked, going with the flow. “I’m not here to debate. Eliza, isn’t it? I dropped by to see when you might have a moment to talk.” “Talk?” I mocked. I couldn’t help myself. Talking was not what I imagined he wanted to do with me. It sure as heck wasn’t what I wanted to do with him. “Yes. Talk.” He inhaled in that way people did when they chose their words carefully. I’d seen it, but rarely practiced the art. “Last night in the class and now, I’m convinced we have a connection between us. No sense in running from it.” His eyes bored into mine and I froze. It got worse when he tunneled his fingers through hair, and a blast of heat rippled through me. The way his hair stood up looked like he’d fucked someone senseless. Who was I fooling? I seriously wanted to book passage on that cruise. “Oh,” I replied deep into a brain drain. “Unless, you tell me to go,” he spoke to me in a measured tone. Shit. Wake up, Eliza. Yoga. Studio. Student. Ring a bell? Buy the BookAmazon | Barnes and NobleTempted Video Trailer

Broderick and his brothers had to forge on with their lives and occupied themselves with building their own estates. Maxwell and Donnell both married and had children while Broderick focused on finishing his own holdings of Glenstrae, where he eventually settled in with his own wife, Evangeline. However, during a May Day celebration in 1485 at his manor - with his brothers and their families in attendance - Angus Campbell attacked the estate and slaughtered all in attenance, leaving Broderick for dead. Evangeline escaped and was rescued by a convent. Rescued by Cordelia Lynn Harley and with her assistance, Rick crossed over into immortality a year later, seeking revenge against his clan enemy. Traveling as a Gypsy in a caravan of wagons, he hid his vampiric nature by using his immortal gifts to tell fortunes while he searched for Angus Campbell, who is also a vampire.
Rick is a very accomplished painter, and gets to indulge in this pastime when he isn't fighting for those he loves.

Facts About Broderick MacDougal NOT in the Books1. Immortality, at first, was almost unbearable condition for Broderick in his early years after his transformation. There was a time he was testing his limits and didn’t care if he lived or died in the process. One of the trials he put himself through was abstinence from human blood, where he only fed from animals. The lack of intimacy with human life and memories proved to be worse than living with the guilt of killing for blood. It was this trial that forced Rick to bring The Hunger under control so he would not have to murder those from whom he fed. Most Vamsyrians kill their prey. Broderick is one of a handful of his kind who do not kill their victims, and he doesn’t know why…at least not yet.

Born into a hated race of Norse wolf shifters, Celina Hunter knows all too well the dangers of trusting anyone other than her two brothers. And yet the survival of her family hinges on trusting the strangely familiar vampire, a natural enemy of her kind…yet her tribe’s Shaman advisers confirm he is her soul mate. Enemy or not, Celina slips into the spell of Broderick's promises of eternal love, gambling with all she holds dear.
Broderick and Celina are bound by a curse, but having come this far through the centuries, Broderick is not about to risk his chance at having his soul mate for eternity. The price, however, may be more than Celina is willing to pay as there is more at stake than just her immortal soul. Click to Tweet

~ Synopsis ~Manâs best friend is about to become Americaâs worst enemy...When a sudden rash of deadly canine attacks hits the greater Miami area, Lieutenant âGhostâ Walton, Special Ops, takes little notice. Blame it on the heat, a rare disease, or the fact that people just donât know how to take care of their pets. But when the body count rises, and the perimeter of blood and carnage spreads wider and wider, into the farthest reaches of Miami-Dade county, Ghost has no choice but to pay attention. Doggedly, he tries to uncover the link between these lethal incidents, but he doesnât count on falling for a sassy out-of-towner with a dark past, nor does he expect to stumble onto a plot that threatens national security.

~ Getting in the Mood ~
I donât like killing people in the daytime.I just donât have the feel for it.When the sun is out and the garden is alive with birds and rabbits and squirrels and pheasants, I just donât have a fleck of evil in me. But in the middle of the night, when my study window is blackened with the thickest of my childhood fears, when the rest of the family is fast asleep and totally unconnected to me, when the stairs creek and the wind howls at the gables and thereâs a noise in the attic that I just canât place, then I am ready to pick up a knife and look down its blade and begin to imagine all manner of things. Iâm sure many writers can conjure up whatever scene they want at whatever time of day they want it. But I canât. I can only write good stuff by day and bad stuff by night. As a former journalist, I am a big believer in âvisiting the sceneâ and to me âthe nightâ is the scene of most violent crimes, so I have to take my imagination there to get it into the mood. I have to walk it through the graveyard with only a sliver of moonlight in the crumbling old tombstones. I have to leave it stranded in the broken down car out in the middle of nowhere with no houses and lights but a storm growing that is already shaking the windows.
My favourite time of writing the bad stuff is between 2am and 4am. Itâs what I call the real âdead of nightâ. There are so many advantages to settling down to shape a story at this time that they are almost too numerous to mention. For a start, your can be pretty damned sure no one else is going to disturb you (if they do, then youâre in for a delicious shock!). If you have got up at 2am, then you sure as hell are not going to waste these precious minutes surfing the web or looking for distractions, you get straight down to work and graft hard. Most of all though, you can experience feelings of isolation or vulnerability that are just not possible when the day is bright, the streets are busy and the traffic loud. Open your back door and sit outside for twenty minutes in the pitch-blackness. Pretend to be your victim. Imagine yourself as the attacker. Soak up the fear and then put your fingers to the keyboard and download the darkness to your page.

Daybreak: http://www.amazon.com/Daybreak-Magic-...

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This is a book that validates months of that ghastly thing called waiting.
It’s a sort of novel that makes me want to convert the non-readers of the world, so that I can then push this series on them and spend the rest of this year fangirling with every being that I meet.
In short, Day Break is fantastic.
The story takes the most exhilarating and poignant of turns, managing to be both an efficacious follow-up of Dusk and an impeccable read. It’s incredibly well thought-out. Every scene makes sense, every turmoil feels entirely necessary, and every piece of dialogue is seamless and well integrated into the story. Heather Kirchhoff's writing is simple and clear - effective in ways that even the most extravagant and complicated of styles don't always manage to be – never failing to build a stark and picturing the characters. It’s a perfect follow up for Dusk.
I am utterly in love with Magic series and is forcing even more people to read it. In the meantime, I’ll be indulged in waiting for the next in Magic series.
