Sunday Update – September 8, 2019

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.
Well, I finally updated my blog to the new WordPress 5. It’ll take some getting used to but I think it’ll be fine. I’ve been using WP5 on SFR Station now for a few months, so I’m used to it now over there. Just need to get used to it now here.
It was quite a week here! Lots happened and got done, and I’m glad some of that craziness is behind me. Lol.
On Monday, we had a super chill day at home. It was Labor Day and the weather wasn’t great, so we couldn’t even go to the pool. Still, it was nice to have one more day all together.
On Tuesday, we handled all the last minute extras for back-to-school. I went to PT and then took the girls to get haircuts.
Wednesday was the first day of school! Thankfully the weather was fine and everyone got where they needed to go. I dropped off the older one at her best friend’s house to walk, and then my husband and I walked the youngest to school. I then went on a walk in the park! It was nice to be back to a normal routine. In the afternoon, it was back to tennis! And then we ordered in food for dinner.
Thursday, I had physical therapy in the morning. In the afternoon, my youngest started her tutoring again. Nothing major happened!
Friday was my big day. FIRST FLYGHT published! Yay! I’m so glad it’s finally out there! I went out for my celebratory breakfast with my husband, handled all the book launch tasks, had a light lunch at home, and then went into the city for the evening. We got a babysitter for the evening because we had tickets to go see Vampire Weekend at Madison Square Garden in Manhattan. So my husband and I took the train in, the subway downtown, and went to Nobu Downtown for dinner. The food was fabulous! I’m so glad I finally got to eat there! Then we took the train back uptown and made it to MSG just in time for Vampire Weekend to go on. We got home around 11:15pm and BOY was I tired! That was a lot of walking and stairs for someone that broke her leg six months ago. I held strong though!
Saturday, I had PT again in the morning and I WAS TIRED. I just barely made it through. I spent the day yesterday updating iPhones and iPads, backing everything up, and keeping my feet elevated. By the time the day was over, I was a swollen mess.
Sunday, today, I have been working all day so far. Updates to SFR Station this morning and updating my website backend today. I deactivated a ton of old plugins and made sure everything I have installed will play nice with the new install.
In writing news, I am working on HIGH FLYGHT edits. I hope to have them done in 10 days, and then it’s on to LOST FLYGHT edits. I want to be writing new material the second week of October, so gotta get going! I need to work on some BROKEN FLYGHT teasers tomorrow.
What else happened this week?
Spent time on Monday cleaning out my daughter’s clothes and handling her closet abomination.
Back for the first day of school! The blacktop is always a mob of parents on the first day.
Scenes from my walk in the park on Wednesday.
Celebratory breakfast for the launch of FIRST FLYGHT! Red velvet pancakes. Mmmm.
Finally saw the Oculus at World Trade Center.
Dinner at Nobu Downtown was amazing! Loved my grapefruit martini and all the sushi.
Vampire Weekend was so great! My babysitter arrived to watch the girls and told us that she went to the lead singer’s, Ezra’s, bar mitzvah. Lol. Ezra grew up three towns from where we live now. She called him “Little Ezra.” I laughed so hard.
Spent the whole day yesterday updating two iPhones and two iPads, and I still haven’t done my own iPad! I’ll handle that next weekend.
And finally, FIRST FLYGHT did well this weekend! At one point it was even higher on this Hot New Releases (Romance > Science Fiction) list. I hope lots of new people found it!
PS) I made it all the way down this post to the images, okay with the WP5 changes, and then it screwed with my images and wouldn’t let me format. NO THANK YOU. I went back to the classic editor toute suite. Sigh. I’m okay with changes but I really need more control!
And that’s it! Have a great week everyone!

FIRST FLYGHT Is Now Available! Get This Sci-fi Reverse Harem Romance For Only 99c Through Sept 13th!

Today is finally the day! FIRST FLYGHT book was written and ready for publication over a year ago, and today, it’s released to the world. I held back on publishing this series so I could bank up a few books, and I’m glad I did. What with the broken leg earlier this year (that’s still healing), I would’ve had a hard time keeping a normal publishing schedule. As it is, this is only the second book I have published in 2019!
If you love FIRST FLYGHT, BROKEN FLYGHT, Book 2, will be out in October, and HIGH FLYGHT, Book 3, will be out in November.
I have really enjoyed writing this series, and I think it shows in the work I have done. Hopefully you’ll pick up FIRST FLYGHT and give it a shot.
Her future is brighter than the stars. But one betrayal will change everything…
Vivian Kawabata can’t wait to claim her privileged destiny. But when the heir to the family agricultural empire finds her bank account empty while shopping for expensive shoes, she’s horrified to discover that her own brother has financially stabbed her in the back. To stand a chance of restoring her rightful place in the universe, the honest and rule-following Vivian may have to break a few intergalactic laws.
After securing an old ship from her aunt, Vivian takes on two new roles: a sexy heiress collecting eligible husbands and a hard-nosed captain rebuilding a lost fortune by any means necessary. Completely out of her depth, she’d be sunk without the help of a relationship broker, a handsome ex-boyfriend, a hacker with a heart of gold, and the other potential partners she meets along the way. With a business that runs the razor’s edge between trade and smuggling, can the former high-society socialite get the money she needs or will her brazen ambition lead to a deadly crash landing?
FIRST FLYGHT is the first book in the Flyght Series of sci-fi reverse harem romance. If you like action-packed space operas and a universe full of twists, then you’ll love S. J. Pajonas’s interstellar adventure.
Note: This is a slow-burn romance series!

I’ll be keeping FIRST FLYGHT 99¢ through September 13th, and then it will go to its regular price of $3.99. So if you want to try this new series, now is the time to pick this up! This series will not be in Kindle Unlimited, and books in the series will be priced at $3.99 for the foreseeable future.
I hope you enjoy your travels with Vivian and the Amagi!

Featuring A STAR PILOT’S HEART By Eva Delaney

I hope you’ve enjoyed meeting all of these awesome sci-fi reverse harem authors and their books! Today is our last, but not least, feature, and I have Eva Delaney here to talk about why she wrote A STAR PILOT’S HEART, the first book in the All the Stars in the Sky Series.
I asked Eva, “Why did you write A STAR PILOT’S HEART?”
Eva replied…
I’ve been a huge fan of sci-fi since seeing Star Wars at my grandma’s house when I was 9. I’ve been writing sci-fi for years when I discovered reverse harem from my author friends. Everyone in my writers’ group was getting into it, so I picked up a sci-fi RH: Pirate Nemesis by Carysa Locke. The book is freakin’ awesome and had so much of what I love. So I figured I could combine romance and space opera as well. Thus, Star Pilot was born.
I love that Eva mentions one of my favorite books, too! PIRATE NEMESIS is so good, and Carysa was one of my main inspirations for writing RH into the Flyght series.
Can I complete my mission and save the galaxy with five alluring men tempting me every chance they get?
I’m the best damn pilot and smuggler in the galaxy. I’m good at what I do because I work alone with no one to screw things up.
Until I’m assigned a secret mission with a team of five tempting men, including my cocky ex who’s acting like he never broke my heart.
With a gruff, pissed off soldier, an enemy bounty hunter, a gorgeous doctor, a shy techie, and a sassy dog, this ship is way too crowded with people I don’t need or want.
I don’t have time to be distracted by my ex, that muscular warrior, the soulful medic, or any of the others who keep getting in my way.
But the longer I’m stuck on this ship with them, facing death at every turn, the more I like having them around.
A Star Pilot’s Heart is a reverse harem space opera, featuring a bad-ass heroine, sexy rebels, and gripping space battles. It’s a combination of Firefly and Star Wars with a RH twist.

Teaser Tuesday – She’s Not Taking This Anymore

It’s time for the last teaser for FIRST FLYGHT! This book publishes on Friday! Yay!
One of the things that happens to Vivian in the course of this series is that her personality splits to take care of situations she’s not used to. We were recently watching Supergirl and there’s this scene where Lena Luthor and Brainy are dealing with a stressful situation, and Lena tells Brainy that she puts all of her emotions in tiny boxes. Lots of tiny boxes. She then stores them away and deals with them later, if she’s feeling up for it.
This totally resonates with me. Yumi, in the Hikoboshi Series, is a fan of the Tiny Box Method. Sanaa, from the Nogiku Series, had a dragon in her chest that would rear its head when she got mad. For Vivian, she looks within herself and calls up other personalities in times of crisis. Business Vivian is a favorite, but Bitch Vivian is around to kick some ass when need be. Mostly, she’s just trying to figure out how to get by when everything is crumbling around her.
Mr. Tattoo approaches me, trying to stand over and intimidate me, but we’re about the same height, even if he is bigger. “How about you stay out of our way?”
What they want here is for me to back down and run away. That’s what I would’ve done a few days ago. But now a switch has been flipped, and Kind and Caring Vivian has taken a backseat to Bitch Vivian. Bitch Vivian is not taking any of this shit anymore. Also, Bitch Vivian is so scared she’s ready to pee her pants, but she’s not going to back down.
“How about, instead, you stay out of my way?” I counter. The hair on my arms stands up as Mr. Sumo joins him. “I’m going to find my brother and take back what he stole from my family. And no one is going to stop me. Do you understand?”
The women’s bathroom door cracks open, and Skylar slips out.
“The boss won’t like that,” Mr. Sumo says.
“If your boss has something he wants from Tomu, he can have Tomu Kawabata when I’m done with him.”
“She doesn’t share with anyone,” Mr. Tattoo says and stresses the female pronoun. Ah, I’m talking to a female mob boss’s henchmen, am I?
“She doesn’t have to share, but she doesn’t get him first.”
Here is Vivian, standing up to men three times her size. She is not amused, and this won’t be the last time she stands up for herself in the series.

September 2019 Goals

Well, the summer is over! And now it’s back to school for my kids and onto more work for me!
What Happened With August’s Goals?
Finish writing Flyght 4. Done! I finished up on Saturday night, right on deadline. Some days, I wasn’t motivated to write, but I powered through anyway. I’m so glad I finished!
Make teaser images for FIRST FLYGHT. Done! You’ve seen a few on the blog so far.
Set up pre-orders Book 3 everywhere. This is coming along and will be done VERY soon. I started over the weekend but because it was a holiday, the new book didn’t go through right away.
Brainstorm up Book 6’s cover with my designer. Done! This cover was designed and sent to me already!
Keep up with SFR Station. I’ve stayed on top of the station and it’s going well.
Get Lola everything she needs for our September event. Done!
Keep up outpatient physical therapy. PT is going well. I’m getting stronger and more flexible!
Keep up with walking. I did some morning walks but not a lot due to lack of time and a few days of sickness.
Reading and knitting. Reading has gone good, but knitting has stalled.
Business Goals For September
Publish FIRST FLYGHT. Everything is ready to go this Friday! I’m getting nervous, but it doesn’t matter if anyone loves or hates it now. I’m totally invested.
Edit Flyght Books 3 and 4. This month I’ll be busy doing edits on these books. I want them both done by the end of the month.
Prep Book 2, BROKEN FLYGHT, for publishing. I need to finish up the ebook and upload it to everywhere before mid-month.
Make teaser images for BROKEN FLYGHT. Gotta pimp this book too! I’ll make images and start showing them off by the second week of the month.
Keep up with SFR Station. As usual now.
Personal Goals For September
Keep up outpatient physical therapy. As one does.
Start walking more regularly. Now that the kids are going back to school, I’ll have more time for walking! I plan to ramp this up but I’ll start with two mornings per week.
Reading and knitting. As usual.
Have a great September everyone!

Sunday Update – September 1, 2019

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.
A quick note that my September Goals post will go on the blog tomorrow since the 1st fell on a Sunday.
What a week! We spent it on vacation which was a nice way to end summer. All in all, there was a lot to love about our days away, and a lot to dislike too, unfortunately. We drove all the way out to the east end of Long Island to Montauk for Monday through Friday. We just wanted some beach and some pool and some days away, and we definitely got that. But the hotel wasn’t very nice and I had a lot of trouble sleeping, so I was pretty irritable by the end of the week.
Montauk pluses: Eating – the food was fantastic! The beach – it was a lovely beach and we had easy access. The ocean – I love the sound of the waves.
Montauk minuses: Restaurant service – so slow and everything took forever! The waves – my husband loved the waves but they were too strong for the kids to go in the water. The hotel rooms – too small, too hot, too much mildew. Not much to do besides beach – if it rains (and it did while we were there), you’re screwed because there’s not much else to do.
But the worst part was the traffic! Going there was a little tough. We hit some traffic but not a lot. The way home was torture. Even I was complaining, and I don’t complain a lot. I like to set a good example for the kids about what’s worth complaining about, but this time I was so frustrated, I just wanted to get out and walk home. Yes, with a still healing broken leg. We got detoured through the Bronx side streets on the way home because the George Washington Bridge was a mess. The Bronx was even worse. Ugh. By the time we got home, I was ready to get down on my driveway and kiss the asphalt.
It feels good to be home! Sleeping in my own bed is pretty great. Lol.
This weekend is the last weekend the pool is open so we’ll be there until they kick us out, if it doesn’t rain. We spent all day Saturday there, and plan to spend all day Sunday there as well.
How’s everything else going? Well, I’m writing this post on Saturday night, and as soon as I’m done, I plan to jump over to Flyght 4 and write the last scene! There will be dancing! I’m so happy with how this book turned out, and I’m looking forward to moving on with the rest of the series after this.
What else happened this week?
There was a lot of food this week including authentic Mexican tacos, plenty of lobster rolls, and then a funnel cake at the pool.
Vacation means no restrictions on alcohol, so rosé!
The view from our room was pretty great.
There was a lot of reading on the beach! I finished A CURSE SO DARK AND LONELY by Brigid Kemmerer and I LOVED IT. It’ll be in the next Book Chat soon!
We had some gray days at the beach, but it was better than no beach!
This is the view from the end of Long Island and the lighthouse there. Funny that I took no photos of the lighthouse, just of the view.
This was our beach! It was a little strange how there was this cliff of sand that people had to crawl down or climb up.
And finally, I finished writing Flyght Book 4! So glad to be done with this book!

Featuring GENE BORN: HUNTER’S CHOICE By Lilly Griffin

Guess what? I have another sci-fi reverse harem book to present to you! Lilly Griffin is here to tell us about why she wanted to write her series, The Koci Hybrid.
I asked Lilly, “Why did you write The Koci Hybrid Series?”
Lilly replied…
I’ve always loved Sci-fi from the hard-core to the space-opera. It didn’t matter if it was in space I wanted to read it. It was an author friend of mine that finally got me to put pen to paper and the rest as the say is history. Okay, history if it was a year ago. lol.
Me too! Oh, Lilly. I love sci-fi too. It’s when I really started to reading books voraciously. I couldn’t get enough! I read everything at the library I could get my hands on. So glad to find another sci-fi reader like myself!
The government used us to improve the human genome through gene modification and controlled us through a computer AI placed in our brains. Earth was dying, and they needed humans to be stronger, faster, and harder to kill while traveling through space in their search for a new home.
They were successful. They made us stronger, faster, and harder to kill. Then, they took it even further when an alien species called the Koci, who’d been shot down right before the last exodus ships were to leave earth and used this foreign DNA to changes us even further. We are now part Koci and part human, a hybrid. We sought our freedom from being controlled by the government only to find ourselves in the hands of pirates when we awoke from cryo-stasis.
Then, the pirates sold us to the Mxint Combine to fight in their gladiator games against other aliens and monsters. We went. We kicked ass. We gained our freedom, but at what cost and will it be short-lived. We chose a planet chock full of predators that we must survive for three weeks before rescue can arrive.
Will it be the Findo Alliance Investigators, will it be the Torgerian’s battle group, will it be the Koci battle group, or worst of all will it be the Mxint Combine that finds us first. It’s Hunter’s Choice. We are finally free, but for how long?
Our goal— continued freedom,
our objective— find a new home,
our ambition— explore this new galaxy we find ourselves in.
Will we give up? Never!
*This is a SLOW BUILD REVERSE HAREM romance relationships.
