Showers are the key to unlocking the squirrely plot points of my novels. I have had my best ideas in the shower and right before falling asleep. Showers are a better place to get ideas because I can get out and write them down. Before sleep is precarious because I don't always have the energy to write it down. I always think, "I'll remember this amazing idea in the morning!" and then never do. Lol. Now I pick up my phone and put those ideas in Evernote. It's safer.(less)

If you love outlines, go for it. If outlines don't work for you, write by the seats of your pants. Don't let anyone tell you that you HAVE to write a certain way. That's crazy. I spent years not writing because I thought I HAD to write outlines and I hated them. What a waste!(less)

I’m Reading CRASH LAND ON KURAI On Instagram

I won't post about this every time I update Instagram with some new chapters, but yes for the first one! I am recording myself reading from CRASH LAND ON KURAI and I'm uploading them to Instagram (IGTV). So far, the first one is about 26 minutes long and I suspect the rest will be about the same length. Why don't you pop on over and give it a listen? If you haven't read this book yet, you can down

“That other woman may have entered his thoughts every now and then, but only as a regret. I was the one who had his full attention now.”
S.J. Pajonas, The Daydreamer Detective Braves The Winter

Topics Mentioning This Author

“I don’t give a shit about a clean fight. Just make it a good one.”
Starla Huchton, Angel

“I almost turned around right there. Stupid, yeah, but PTSADS doesn’t care how stupid a trigger is. If you need me to spell that out, it’s Post-Traumatic Stuffed Animal Death Syndrome. I thought it was pretty funny. Mom and the psychologist did not. The psychologist said I had substituted George for Dad and I actually had post-dad syndrome. I told her George was a fucking bunny.”
Leah Raeder, Unteachable

“That's another thing about lies: if you convince yourself they're true, they become true. A lie is a discrepancy of belief, not fact.”
Leah Raeder, Unteachable

“The storm front had finally broken, tatters of cloud pulling apart like cotton candy and sprinkling the sky with the bright sugar grains of stars.”
Leah Raeder, Unteachable

“Everything was flame shades of tangerine and pomegranate, ripeness on the brink of decay, and when the wind rippled the leaves they looked like a mosaic of fire, like the walls of the Cathedral Basilica.”
