Succubus News: With More Sexy.
Delphine is a character who quite frankly got away from me.
She began as a 2400 year old succubus who was supposed to be a bombshell with all of the smoldering heart of 1930s gangster moll.
Boy, was I wrong. Delphine grew into something far more interesting. She's kind, tough, loyal, and complex-- and her merest touch makes the tough guys swoon, but underneath all of that is a fierce intellect with a heart of spun gold. She makes her fifth appearance in the next Fearle...

September: The Glory Season
September. The Last Hurrah.
Also my birth month, and the month we lost my mother nearly twenty years ago. There's a lesson here, I think.
I've been in an area afflicted by seasons for more than twenty years of my life, and in some way, September has become my favorite month. Crops and flowers start to look a little shopworn, and there are quiet places where creeks used to be during the height of the rains.
But then, we get a bit of rain and there's a Renaissance in...

Hiring a Unicorn as a Model. (Halfway News)
UNICORN!
That's what my friend Staci said when I mentioned I walked into the grocery store and saw a young woman who looks exactly how I pictured Carlie McEwan (White Witch, Monster Fighter, and Maker of Waffles).
"You found a unicorn," Staci said.
"I did?" I asked.
"Yes. It's a one-in-a-million thing. Get it?" Staci responded.
"Oh, Ok,"I confirmed.
There was an awkward pause in our chat.
"Well, I better go do. . .something else. Don't scare the girl. Make sure she knows you don't have a...

FandomFest: My People!
FandomFest pictures!
As promised, here are a few pics from the festivities. I had not one but two cosplayers who brought Saavin Roark (from Banshee) to life. It was a little bit surreal. Both Jessica and Abby were--- well, they made me wonder. Was it just me, or was I a complete idiot when I was a teenager? These two young women were knowledgeable, dedicated, and far more professional than I could have been at that age. To sum up, it was amazing.
Here's Jessica on day...

Geeks, Nerds, and Dorks.
When I was a kid, it was dogmatic that geekery was something to be punished rather than celebrated. Certain events began to shift that attitude, which had permeated schools across the United States until the late 1980s. Star Wars was one such liminal moment, so was the rebirth of Star Trek, and other superhero related films as well.
Dungeons and Dragons, gaming, and the enthusiasm of table top gaming began to grow alongside the miraculous wave of computer and video gaming. Think about thi...

Your Favorite Book: Go!
I frequently ask people, "What's you favorite book?"
The answers are often surprising. I've learned about authors and books that are utterly new to me; in that sense, it's one of the best questions you can ask someone.
So without further ado-- what's your favorite book, and why?
Cheers,
Terry

Penned Con: Post Mortem
St. Louis. The heart of America. My kind of people.
PennedCon was organized like an invasion, if that invasion featured lots of book swag and hilarity. In downtown St. Louis, there were lovely, iconic vistas.
The city was great, the hotel, nice and roomy. The event? Packed. We're only missing a few things. That would be writers and readers. Fortunately, there were plenty of both. Several writers (who are new friends FOR LIFE) treated me to their real personalities. You know, the side of so...

I Demand Steak: St. Louis, Here I Come!
Penned Con. This Weekend. St. Louis.
It's so American it makes my heart sing. About one hundred writers will descend on the Gateway City to sign books, mingle with readers, and cause some mild shenanigans.
Here's the link:Penned Con 2015
In addition to signing books, I have a short list of things to achieve while in town:
1) Eat steak.
2) Watch the Braves kick the tar out of the Cardinals (via my phone, of course).
3) Repeat step one.
4) Nap. After signing.
5) Take pictures with friends, share pictur...

My Top Ten: Country Songs By Women
Nothing too fancy, I happened to hear my favorite country song by a female artist today, and thought about a list
Here's the good thing about lists: people will invariably disagree and tell me about other excellent music I've not heard before. I consider that a win/win.
So, without further ado:
1. Hands down, my favorite: Seven Year Ache by Rosanne Cash. It's early-80s-electric piano at the top of the mountain. I love this song.
2. The Queen of Country, Loretta Lynn...

Consider The Waffle.
I require fuel, and that fuel must take a delicious form.
As a writer and college instructor, I have certain expectations placed upon me. I'm supposed to wear tweed (it's itchy), drive a Prius (I'm too tall), and eschew all forms of sports (I love sports. I also love playing sports, which is a double no-no). I'm also remarkably opportunistic about where I drink my coffee. Case in point, one of my favorite restaurants?
Seriously, if you haven't been, get thee hence!
