Where Do We Go From Here? by Pinqy Ring – Creative Activism
Creative Activism can take a variety of forms and mediums. Regarding violence, Chicago Hip Hop Artist, Pinqy Ring has put heart to pen, pen to paper to ask the question, “Where Do We Go From Here?”
Per Pinqy’s website about “Where Do We Go From Here?”
“A city so readily identified as “Chiraq” is a city that needs immediate help, and not from some Brooklyn film director. “Where Do We Go From Here?” is a song that was born in desperation. From 9 year old Tyshawn Lee being lured into an alley and gunned down, to 17 year old Laquan McDonald being shot 16 times by the Chicago Police, the issue of violence in Chicago is a pressing one that Pinqy Ring tackles as a born and raised Chicagoan who has lost many friends to the street battle that ensues everyday.
The song features the HHW Youth Choir (www.hhwperforms.org), and was written and arranged by Pinqy Ring, Wil Diaz and Gabriel Ramirez. The idea came about with the intention of starting/continuing an important dialogue with youth, residents, city officials and the world about our current state. The song doesn’t have all the answers, but simply poses the question: Where do we go from here?
“Where Do We Go From Here?” is available on Pinqy Ring’s debut album “Herstory: The Lost Chapters” at www.pinqyring.com.”
Take a listen and view. Imagine if more artists were to take the chance and speak on social issues. Salute to Pinqy Ring!

The South Side & Afrofuturism – Books On The Reading Table
Next on the read and re-read list are two books with a Chicago connection. The first is The South Side: A Portrait of Chicago and American Segregation by Natalie Y. Moore. The author is the South Side bureau reporter for WBEZ, the NPR-member station in Chicago. Her published writing can be seen in Black Enterprise, Essence, The Chicago Reporter, the Chicago Sun-Times and the Chicago Tribune to name a few. The South Side: A Portrait of Chicago and American Segregation contains essays and introspective narratives that highlight the community stories and those affected by historical segregation and the current policies that keep segregation in place.
The next Book On The Reading Table is Afrofuturism: The World of Black Sci-Fi and Fantasy Culture by Ytasha L. Womack. This author is a publisher, filmmaker, public speaker and artistic force that is well respected throughout the world. Afrofuturism: The World of Black Sci-Fi and Fantasy Culture enlightens the reader about Afrofuturist ideas and concepts. She deftly weaves the historical origins of literature and creative works that were inspired by African Culture with the pulsing community of modern artists that continue to push and define Black Creativity.

ONE NATION #2 – Two Covers
Two of my favorite covers from the comic book publisher, 133ART. The brainchild of Jason Reeves, 133ART is also an art production house for a variety upcoming client and current in-house projects. This first cover of a mock magazine AGE is epic! It could very well be the media to cover the superhero events in 133ART’s ONE NATION featuring Paragon. The second is a great body image of Paragon barely lit by the glow of an Earth image! The artwork and concept for both speak of quality in creativity and execution! Ki Khanga: The Sword and Soul Role Playing Game
The World of RPGs (Role – Playing Games) is getting a new addition! Ki Khanga: The Sword and Soul Role Playing Game.
For those that don’t know, an RPG, per Wikipedia is “a game in which players assume the roles of characters in a fictional setting. Players take responsibility for acting out these roles within a narrative, either through literal acting or through a process of structured decision-making or character development.[3] Actions taken within many games succeed or fail according to a formal system of rules and guidelines.”
There are alot of RPGs, the most notable is Dungeons & Dragons. However, D&D among others, have left a great deal to be desired as it relates to non-europeon themes, ideas & characters. Enter Ki Khanga: The Sword and Soul Role Playing Game created by Milton Davis of MVmedia, LLC, a succesful indie publisher of Sword & Soul Fantasy novels and author Balogun Ojetade, a forty-year veteran of tabletop roleplaying games.
Ki Khanga: The Sword and Soul RPG is a new Sword and Soul (African-inspired epic and heroic fantasy) roleplaying game that uses regular playing cards to resolve conflicts and to achieve feats in a fun and dynamic way that keeps the action and drama moving. African Culture, Mythology, unique characters and great art illustrated by immensely talented artists will set this game apart from most.
This project is on Kickstarter and has already met its goal! Here’s your chance! Go $upport this project Ki Khanga: The Sword and Soul Role Playing Game and tell everyone that this will be an excellent addition to game night in any household!
