Since this was our schools winter break, I had the week off from watching my grand babies. I thought and hoped I'd get some writing accomplished, but as always, the days fly by and I was lucky enough to get in 3k. 

I finally stacked away all the Christmas boxes in the crawl space, and deep cleaned my living room rugs. Sounds like fun, right? 

On a good note, the family is getting together on Sunday for dinner to celebrate my birthday.

Secrets never stay buried for long...

Luna Bay hasn't changed much in the eight years she has spent in London. The little Yorkshire village is still just as beautiful, but the new pub landlord is a gorgeous addition to the scenery!

Lucy only intended to stay for a day, yet when she discovers that Nana Lily has not only left her a cottage but also The Broken Hearts Book Club, Lucy is intrigued. Her Nana never have mentioned the club and Lucy can't wait to get started, but walking into her first meeting she is more aware than ever that her past is finally catching up with her.

One way or another, Lucy must finally face the secrets she's kept buried for so long-or spend the rest of her life on the run...

Cathrina's Review:

When I began reading THE BROKEN HEARTS BOOK CLUB, I was instantly reminded of Rene Zellweger's character in Bridget Jone's Diary. And the main reason I liked this book. It made me smile, and I felt the second hand embarrassment for her.

Lucy is a little awkward and bursts out in song when she's nervous. And on occasion, her attempts of acclimating to her circumstances crashes down around her. 

There's a teenage mishap that happened 8 years prior, and the reason she left Luna Bay, the reader doesn't discover this calamity until you near the end. That part was a trifle frustrating because~ I wanted to know. 

And like Bridget Jone's, who's a very nice person, Lucy worms her way into peoples hearts, and mine.

A cute story where Lucy struggles with romance and every day issues on Luna Bay.

This month I find the words are getting stuck. My brain doesn't know how to outline, I'm a true pantser, and it takes me a while to get into the rhythm after going over what I wrote previously and what my characters are expecting next of me. I find my writing time dwindling with everyday life, and I get frustrated. 
I do have some good news, I received a full request from an agent for my newly completed manuscript. The bad news is, after I hit send, I discovered multiple errors. That's what I get for rushing things. I haven't yet had it professionally edited and I thought I'd send out a couple of queries to test the waters.

Do you get your manuscripts professionally edited before sending it to a publisher or an agent? I recently read on the Twitter platform #askagent that he doesn't advise getting your ms edited. He said, why waste your money, that if he loved the story it would be their job to edit.

February 7 question - What do you love about the genre you write in most often?
Since I write mainly Young Adult that sometimes tends to crossover into the Adult category, I love the confusion, angst, and young love aspect that teenagers are battling. I remember those days of being dazed and confused and wondering where life is taking me. Whether in a contemporary genre or paranormal/fantasy, young adults see and do things differently than adults, and not always in a mature, best of ways.

I'm celebrating Life!!
I'd like to thank everyone for their well wishes and prayers for my mother. The PET scan showed NO signs of cancer!!!! Thank the Lord! This is the second time she's beaten this deadly disease.
And, on to another miracle of Life, I'm going to be a grandmother again. Daughter #3 is expecting her first baby. 
On the writing front, I actually received a full request from an agent this week for my newest manuscript. *fingers crossed*
I will be watching the Super Bowl this weekend. Are you?

Yesterday we had a high around 18 degrees, but today we're supposed to have a heat wave~in the 40's! Celebrate! 

Then snow returning after the weekend.
This morning we might get devastating news or an incredible report concerning my mother. I ask if you have a second to spare, say a prayer and/or keep her in your thoughts.

My small celebration is completing my second draft of my new project. I'll let it sit for a week and then read through it a third time. I couldn't believe the repetitious phrases that I apparently am hooked on. And I'm positive I'll find more. How many drafts to you normally go through before calling your manuscript somewhat decent?

I then plan on getting it professionally edited, which I believe is essential if you're submitting to a publisher or querying for an agent.
