Handsome White Boy Ezekiel Tyrus

Handsome White Boy Ezekiel Tyrus

Yesterday a 60something African-American woman at Walgreens said, “You’re a handsome white boy.”

Made my week.

Bawling Tears of Happiness Ezekiel Tyrus

Bawling Tears of Happiness Ezekiel Tyrus

Around 11pm last night, I was struck with an overwhelming happiness. I was lying in bed clothed and reading when I sat up and proceeded to bawl tears of joy. We’ve all wept happiness tears before, delicate droplets adorning our cheeks in sweet streams but I was unaware it was possible to actually bawl like a punished child in pure elation. There’s nothing quite like it. Been having some extraordinary experiences lately and I’m on the cusp of some huge changes in my life. I can feel it. Very transformative.

Another 5-Star Review of 'Eli,Ely' by Ezekiel Tyrus

Another 5-Star Review of 'Eli,Ely' by Ezekiel Tyrus

Another 5 Star review on Amazon. This review calls my novel ‘an anti-novel.’ Absofuckinglutely. One of my loftier ambitions has been to redefine the novel. Damn, this individual understood precisely what i was going for. Nice.

5.0 out of 5 stars Samsara Angel, May 7, 2014

This review is from: Eli, Ely (Paperback)

Kerouac relentlessly explored the highways and continents of his being-knowing no borders- seeking something sacred just beyond another horizon. So too does Ezekiel Tyrus - only he turns and throttles his engine inward to confront the mysterious landscape of his psyche and soul. This is a work of honesty; not a word lies. The good, the bad and the ugly of what it is to be alive is depicted in a purgatory world that only defines itself through the past. A San Francisco that is a ghost whisp of The Beats. The perfect world always having been in the past tense. It is an anti-novel with an anti-hero which simply means it is REAL as all great fiction strives to be.

DNA you. Ezekiel Tyrus

DNA you. Ezekiel Tyrus

LOL Autocorrect on my cell phone is making me look like an idiot.

Yesterday, I meant to text, ‘Adapted for the stage’ and it came out ‘Hands to pets’ -WTF?

And this AM, I woke to a sweet ‘Good morning’ text from a woman and I texted back a sweet and playful, ‘You were the first thing I thought about when I woke up this morning. Damn you.’ That’s what I meant to write, it came out, “You were the first thing I thought about this morning. DNA you.”

Hours go by. I’m unaware of my text and I just received the following; “DNA me? That’s the most scientific come on I have ever heard.”

Another 5 Star Review of 'Eli,Ely' by Ezekiel Tyrus

I’ve got 44 reviews on Amazon. This 5 Star review came in yesterday:

5.0 out of 5 stars A lush, fun read!, May 6, 2014

Verified Purchase
This review is from: Eli, Ely (Paperback)
This is an entertaining, thoughtful and believable read. I really enjoyed Ezekiel’s writing style, he masterfully chopped up the timeline to fill in all the whole story of a relationship gone south.

As a local San Franciscan, this was a treat to read with all his nods to places around town. Highly recommended even if you don’t live in the bay area!

Alfred Hitchcock Ezekiel Tyrus

Alfred Hitchcock Ezekiel Tyrus

So physically repugnant was Alfred Hitchcock, it was said, that even The Casting Couch couldn’t get him laid. However, according to those close to the director, Hitchcock lacked interest in sexual contact and was simply a voyeur which is a fetish Hitchcock explored in every film he ever did. Go back and look at them.

Strife is not better than loneliness. Ezekiel Tyrus

Strife is not better than loneliness. Ezekiel Tyrus

At 24, I worked at a restaurant with a young man in a relationship with a difficult woman and he’d often say, “Strife is better than loneliness.”

I disagreed with him then and I disagree with him now.

Loneliness is conducive to creativity.

Add some rain to that.

Some Jazz.

A yellow legal pad and a red ink pen and I’m in bliss, writing for hours into the night.

A glass of red would be nice, too.

Or strong coffee.

Strife is so time-consuming.

It manipulates your emotions and occupies valuable space inside your head for hours and days.

Nobody has forever.

What you do with your time is so important.

Being with a woman who likes to fight will shorten your life in heartbeat.

Happiness. Ezekiel Tyrus

Happiness. Ezekiel Tyrus

Often when meditating, I see myself chilling on a houseboat on a cold and foggy evening. Is this a vision? -Memories of Lake Union in Seattle?

When some of my elderly friends tell me about hanging in North Beach bars and cafe’s in the late 50s early 60s listening to John Coltrane play on rainy nights, occasionally having a drink with him afterwards, I die a little inside.

Once I sat in a Chinatown restaurant on Stockton and Vellejo in the pouring rain listening to John Coltrane on my iPod while writing in my journal and drinking incredibly strong Vietnamese coffee.

Happiness.

Odd Slut. Ezekiel Tyrus

Odd Slut. Ezekiel Tyrus.

In Norway, ‘Odd’ is a common boy’s name and the word ‘Slut’ means Stop.
So in Oslo, the term ‘odd slut’ has a totally different meaning than it does here.
