Josette Morgan, better known these days as Granny, is a fiery little woman born and raised in Wyoming. As a teenager she took to the road with a boyfriend, winding up living with he and several others in a Wisconsin commune. There she met Charles Conners and the pair became fast friends, and later they became lovers. In 1961 they married, and Gerrid (the original boyfriend) was best man and two of his wives were bridesmaids.

Now & Forever ABCs (Gramps & the Witch)

Albert Lee Swanson & Claudette Isis Swanson née Baardsson
10 October 1935 & 2 June 1933
Anglican & Church of All Worlds

The couple who brought Yvette into the world, and an eccentric pair. Gramps, as far back as Yvette can recall, tended to give people names to suit a mix of who the person was and his own unusual sense of humour. The Witch, on the other hand, felt that children should actually have names — so insisted on giving permanent names to her children, and also insisted that, given that...

Now & Forever ABCs (Falcon Grove, Wa)

Okay, so I don’t have aperson for F, but I do have a place and a rather important one. So I’m going with that.

Falcon Grove, Washington, USA
Established 1863

Falcon Grove is a town outside of Tacoma, Washington by approximately 30-45 minutes, and nearly a full hour outside of most major portions of Seattle. It’s located south and East of both cities.

It is a small town, comprising some 5000 souls, and home to two of the area’s high schools, Sam Clemens and Immaculate Conception, and home of sever...

Alphabet hard

Yesterday I said I was pretty sure I have no E & F for my Now & Forever cast thing, right?

Well, I said I might do some Js … it hadn’t occurred to me that there’s still G, H, and I to go.

I shouldn’t try using my brain first thing in the morning, apparently.

I’m going to just call today and yesterday a bust, and a break, and pick up again tomorrow with whatever letter I find is the next one doable.

Sharing some inspired images

Yes, I know, this is more of a Facebook thing. Deal is, I reallyhateFacebook, so I visit as little as I can. Humour me, please? (And before anyone suggests I could’ve simply twitted these, please bear in mind that it took me over 5 minutes to find the “Post new twit” button, I’m not sure I’m up to the challenge of finding the “Post images” button on Twitter)

Now & Forever ABCs (E & F)

I’m not actually sure I’vegot an E or F.

I’m going to have to dig through my notes. I mean, I know there’re Es and Fs in the story … or within the setting, but I’m not sure they’re anyone on screen or anyone who’s been more than a recurring face in my mind that the girls pass in the school hallway.

If I haven’t found anyone by the time I go to bed tonight I’ll try to get started on the Js. There’s several of them, and I want to post entries of many (most?) of them. And for those wondering, no,...

Now & Forever ABCs (Charlie)

Shock and amaze your OCD writer friends: A C entry on D-day! Flipping through my notes I realised I should have done an entry for Charlie yesterday. So here it is today, instead.

Charles Vincent Varhoeven
21 November 1993
Roman Catholic

Charlie is a brilliant, and woefully adolescent young man. He has a genuinely good mind for programming, electronics, and other aspects of computer design. He’s been known to use software modelling tools to design chips and circuits for fun, and owns (anduses) an...

Maybe the NaNoWriMo bits aren’t so bad

Well, I’m pretty sure, now, that I’m editing bits I wrote during November’s National Novel Writing Month event.

They’re not half as bad as I remembered them being. Things are going amazingly smoothly.

Iknow the Camp NaNoWriMo portion near the end is going to make me cry. I wasn’t happy withthat while I was writing it. Hopefully a solution will present itself before I get there.

Regardless — I’m done with them. No more writing challenges for me except the ones I set for myself … which generally a...
