A very awesome short story by the lovely and talented Ms McGuire.

The locker room is always tense before a game. Alisa is trying to get her uniform to stay in place, counting more on safety pins and prayer than she probably should, and Birdie–true to her name–keeps whistling, which is probably going to get her slapped if she doesn’t stop soon. Cram twenty girls from opposing squads into one small space and tens...

iBooks freebie

Kindle may or may not join this game, I don’t control that so can’t say.

In my effort to test if Apple’s support had corrected my issue setting a sale for my book I have set a 99¢ price that is good through today. Tomorrow the book will be free for a couple of days. This is only on iBooks (and anyone else who elects to price match them).>

Please enjoy.

P.S. this lovely little button below will take you directly to the book on iBooks — and soon, iTunes.

iBooks sales can happen now!

It turns out the issue I was having with setting up the labour day sale was a glitch in iTunes Connect. C’est la vie, glitches happen in the best of software. I’ve heard of Hello World failing to run correct for people. Computers are semi-daemonic entities.

Well, tomorrow until SaturdayLove or Lustwill be $0.99 on iBookstore. And lowered approximately the same degree in most markets. No, it’s not free. I might do a free weekend soon, again, for everything. This $0.99 was an experiment so I cou...

And Amazon joins the fun

So, it turns out, today, that Amazon decided to price match my Labour Day weekend sale.

So! Until they put the price back up (I’ve actually got to look up how to make sure they do that)Love or Lust is free for the Amazon and Condé Nast Combine Digital and Print Magazine Subscr...

And so much for iBooks …

The free Labour Day sale ofLove or Lust isn’t quite going according to plan, it would seem.

Kindle, I expected trouble there; it’s a known and widely discussed thing that they’re difficult to get the price knocked down to free with.

Nook, that was unexpected, but not exactly surprising.

IBooks … in all fairness, it is possible to cut the price to free here. The trouble with this is either a) I’ve finally encountered an Apple product that’s unintuitive or b) the function for setting up the sale i...

I think I need a Russian translation of my book …

I’ve refrained from comment on the events in Russia, to this point because — frankly — I felt others were doing such a tremendously wonderful job of it already; I could think of nothing to add. Bravo to Amsterdam and their flying of Pride flags from the government building when Putin (itwas Putin, not some Ambassador, right?) came to visit. Kudos to whoever was responsible for the rainbow crosswalk in front of the Russian embassy.

Of course, too, shame on Russia for this unconscionable law of...

And less impressed with Nook

I’ve never been the world’s biggest fan of the Nook devices or apps, nor B&N‘s publisher tools (first PubIt, now NookPress) for various reasons (not the least of which is their wont to ignore their own field where one puts the ISBN of the eBook — forcing the use of a BNID) and now I’ve found a new reason: can’t give away the book.

I’ve been looking. Like So … to my Nook using reader...

And this is why subscribing is a good thing

Well, it helps anyway.

This weekendLove or Lust will be free from every retail source I can set it for.

Kindle will, if I have anything to say about it, be includedbut All others should allow a setting of the price to Free. Exactly how long the price change takes to go through...

Status update

Well, I’m still in queue for my editor’s attention onReady or Not. The final two chapters I’m waiting for input from her before I start rewriting, because I’m not sure if I ought to totally throw them out or just parts.

Færie Patrol is still waiting for me to finish withNow & Forever. At least, for the time being. It’d be one thing if I paused the latter to work on the former, but in this case I’m not stuck because of burnout or brain freeze, I’m stuck simply because I need a clean ending to b...

Still room in the next edition

I know a lot of you following this blog are authors, and virtually all of you who are authors are of the indie sort.

We all know exposure is hard to come by. Our books can’t sell if no one knows they exist! So, we need rooftops to shout from, metaphorical as well as physical.

Indie Book Buffet‘s second edition isn’t full yet. This magical linkwill whisk you away on ethereal winds to the form where you submit your title to them.

It’s free, the people who run the eZine are very friendly and wonder...
