How-To: Electric Pink Eye Shadow
Pink eyeshadow has historically been filed under the heading of Things I Will Probably Never Wear In This Lifetime. I just didn’t get it: wouldn’t it make you (or at least me: a fair-skinned blonde) look…sick? Or at the very least, kind of like an alien?
And I’ll be honest: when Urban Decay asked me to help them launch their new Electric Palette, I was nervous. I don’t tend to wear bright eyeshadow a whole lot, and I also don’t apply makeup like a makeup artist; I apply it the way a real perso...
Out With The Kale, In With The…Scapes?
Over the past few years, kale has become trendy to the point of…well, of making me nuts. I know, people who love it loveit and will hate this next sentence, but:
I don’t like it.
I don’t like it in salads, I don’t like it in juices, I don’t like it in little chip-things. Just don’t like it.
If you’re in the same boat as me, or if you’d just like to try something new – but equally green and healthy – I have a suggestion for you: garlic scapes.

Wobble Wobble
Let me preface this by saying that I am not one of those people who is unfailingly stiff-upper-lip-y and stoic in the face of challenges, physical or otherwise. If I twist my ankle, I am more than happy to sit down and let you bring me some ice while I watch back-to-back episodes ofMy So-Called Life. If I’m trying to carry a heavy tote bag that’s making me miserable and I am in the presence of a large and/or strong person who is willing to do the job for me, that is wonderful. If I am pregnan...
Mules Are Back?!
Apparently, according to every blog and fashion magazine and style website.
I can handle that.
But! With a style with this much potential to look dated, it’s especially important to pick a pair with modern updates.
As an example of what I very much do not like: this kind of mule. It’s like the bad parts of Reality Bites-era Winona Ryder, and there were not many of those.
But this? Feels clean, and the shape is elegant, and I like the simplicity and architectural feel of it.
So tell me, honestly: d...

Blueberry-Cinnamon French Toast
Suggestion for your weekend: make this.
It takes about five minutes total, and is a huge crowd-pleaser for all ages. The key to this recipe: use blueberry bread instead of regular bread (this is Pepperidge Farm Blueberry Swirl bread, which I think is delicious…but my son’s obsession is on another level entirely: he insists on eating it every. single. morning, calls it “my muffin”, and was literally still talking about it as he went to sleep last night).
(Serves 2)
What you need:
4 slices blueberr...

Must-Own Spring Shoe: InStyle For Nine West Gamin Pump
So, remember those leopard pumps that I freaked out a whole bunch about last fall?
The Nine West + Instyle ones that I woreeverywhere (including to the Macy’s event I’m pictured at above with some lovely RG readers)?
They were spectacularly pretty, weirdly comfortable, and $79, and they sold out in about thirty seconds, which made a bunch of you sad.
They are BACK, and for spring you need to own them in snakeskin. (Yes, they’re the same pair I posted about earlier this week, but they’re so pheno...
Nursery To “Little Boy’s Room” (Before & After)
Before
Thank you so much for all your suggestions re: what to do with the wall color for the nursery (which I guess should now officially be called a “Little Boy’s Room”). I ended up deciding on a grey, but went for one with blue undertones to make it feel a little brighter.
I love it. (I think Indy loves it, too.)
Want to see?!
After
My favorite thing about the paint I (or rather “we”) chose – Benjamin Moore Sweet Innocence – is that I feel like it gives me lots of room to bring in splashes of co...

All Torn Up
I spent a lot of time in high school feeling silly. Like the one people were making fun of, the one who stuttered or said the wrong thing or who had the fact that they were sad or embarrassed or afraid written right across the center of their face. I hated that what I was thinking and feeling was so obvious all the time. And part of it was paranoia, I’m sure, but part of it was true: Iwasthe one who people – even my friends – teased. A lot of the time, I was the one the joke was about. Maybe b...
