THE EPHESIANS IDENTITY CHALLENGE

On the 31st of August, I started something called The Ephesians Identity Challenge. For six days, I welcomed fellow believers to cover the six chapters of Paul’s letter to the church of Ephesus. Each day, I challenged believers to take time to read one chapter and write a list of what the biblical book says about their identity as a believer. The aim of the challenge was to ground one’s faith and help offload one’s personal insecurities through prayer. Pride, lust, envy, greed, gluttony, wrath,...

True Change and Gospel Identity

Dr. Timothy Keller, in his sermon “The Grace of Law” tells of a married couple that came to see him. The man had rude, crude and lewd behaviour and it was breaking their marriage. The wife threatened to leave him and he sobered up. He agreed to go for counselling. He agreed to stop the immoral life. He agreed to change. He made tonnes of agreements to change after Keller read him the riot act. He then became good for a few weeks but soon reverted to his old life. The wife threatened to leave ag...

Pain and Suffering: Overcoming the Death of a Loved One

Today’s blog post is by a guest writer by the name Andrew Kiserema. Andrew runs the blog MAISHA NI SAFARI. He has penned a personal account on pain and suffering. May it be a blessing to you and your loved ones.

Pain and Suffering: Overcoming the Death of a Loved One

By Andrew Kiserema

We will all go through difficult, dark, and sad times during our mortal sojourn merely because we are flesh and blood. One of these difficulties will involve losing a loved one: be it a friend, relative, or collea...

BOOK REVIEW: LIVING A LIFE OF FIRE by Reinhard Bonnke

I took a keen interest in the life of the famous evangelist Reinhard Bonnke after he passed away on 7th December 2019. I heard many great testimonies of the fiery evangelist by many people in my Christian circles and I was curious to know the man more. I searched him up and found that he had written a detailed autobiography. This book, LIVING A LIFE OF FIRE, has been a gem to my faith, and one that I would add to the ranks of The Pilgrim’s Progress by John Bunyan. I consider this autobiography a...

HAPPY 31ST BIRTHDAY TO MY PROVERBS 31 WIFE

Queen Waturi turns 31 today. After being married to her for nearly eight years, I, as her husband, can confidently say that Turi has embodied Proverbs 31 as she turns 31. So here is King Solomon’s chapter manifested in the wife of my youth. This is 31 at 31!

Proverbs 31:10 “A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies.”

Turi’s value-add to my life cannot be tagged with a price. She is the unique kind of friend who has made me the man that I am. While the world pegs t...

Fathered to father

To raise a child is a high privilege for a man. You are awarded the role of father. It is not a burden but a privilege. A privilege to invest in a future generation by planting trees in whose shade you may never sit. This #FathersDay, be firstly and firmly established in the Fatherhood of God towards you. The Fatherhood of God is seen in Mark 1:11, where he says to the Christ:

“You are my Son, whom I love, with you I am well pleased.”

You are my son. It means Christ is accepted by His Fat...

Heavenly wisdom vs Demonic Wisdom

I recently saw a status update shared on social media. It was an image with a caption that read as follows: “I don’t hold grudges; you simply become irrelevant.” I usually don’t fret over the things I see on social media, especially among unbelievers. However, it gets me thinking deeply when I see professing believers subscribe to such mantras. What raises eyebrows is the fact that such a mantra is praised by many in the comment section as “wisdom.” And so I am compelled to ask myself, “Is it re...

Is taking a break in a dating relationship healthy?

INBOX: Hi Ernest I would like to hear your thoughts on taking time apart from your partner following disagreements or hurtful events during dating/courting.

Hey, thanks for writing. While dating, taking time apart after a painful fight can help. However, it can end badly if you are not keen on a few things. A friend of mine says, A break is a breakup. That reality can be true if you dont have clear guidelines. So here are a few to help you:

Mutually agree to define the time out. Agree that...
