Eulogy: the Death of Self

We are gathered here today to mourn the untimely death of our dear beloved Self. He was a devoted fornicator, esteemed thief, cherished blasphemer and a wonderful sanctimonious man that we all loved to hate.

Early life and Education

Self was born promptly at the same time his biological body came into this earth. He was empowered by the gloriously sinful iniquities of his forefathers, dating back to Adam. Like many of his contemporaries, Self grew in an egotistical neighborhood with wonde...

Let your heart be ready

Let your heart be ready the day God forgives your enemies. At the heart of the Gospel is a plea for us not to allow the grace and mercy of God to be an offence to your sensibilities.

In the parable of the prodigal son, the elder brother was offended by the Father’s restoration of the younger sinful brother. The elder brother responds to his forgiving father this way.

Luke 15:29-30 …All these years I’ve slaved for you and never once refused to do a single thing you told me to. And in all t...

12 things to consider on the first date

Hi Ernest, I need some advice from you. I am a 20-year-old girl in my second year on campus. I am also born again. I just moved out of my parents’ house. I am staying in a girls’ hostel near campus. Over my time at the university, I have made friends- with both girls and boys. The reason I am writing is that a certain guy who has been in my group of friends has asked me out on a date. He seems like a nice guy, but the only problem is that I have never gone on a date. He is older than me by at le...

What is the spiritual act of worship in Romans 12?

Hi Ernest. There is this famous verse that we love quoting as Christians. Romans 12:1 “Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God–this is your spiritual act of worship.” (NIV, 1984). Could you explain to me what the spiritual act of worship means?

Thanks for asking the question. I will post it as a blog so that many others can benefit from it. The first thing we note is that worship is a response. Paul says this sp...

Your life is a breath.

The world’s life expectancy is currently 72 years. The life expectancy in my country, Kenya, is 62 years. If we round off these ages, you could generally say that the average person will die between the ages of 65 and 70. We often attribute mid-life to the age of 50. But it really is a wrong assumption because the majority of humanity will not die at 100.Those that clock a three-figure age, and those that hit their eighties and nineties are outliers. If most of us will die at 70, then it me...

Lust, an enemy of purpose

When you examine the scriptures carefully, you discover that lust is always a distraction from a life of purpose.

When Joseph was tempted by another man’s wife to have a clandestine affair, he aptly highlighted that the offer by Mrs. Potiphar was antithetical to fulfilling his purpose.

Genesis 39:7-9 ..and after a while his master’s wife took notice of Joseph and said, “Come to bed with me!” But he refused. “With me in charge,” he told her, “my master does not concern himself with anything in ...

7 ways to increase your depression and frustration with life this year as a professing Christian.

7 ways to increase your depression and frustration with life this year as a professing Christian.

With skyrocketing cases of despondency, we thought we would help followers of Jesus Christ examine their lives more keenly to bear more fruit. Parts of the write-up will be written in sarcasm and satire (like the title). I won’t insult my readers by pointing out the sacrascm and satire. We all know we want a fruitful life without depression and frustration. So, that said, these are seven ways to be ...

The Deception of Lustful Eyes

Proverbs 27:20 “Hell and Destruction are never full; so the eyes of man are never satisfied.” (NKJV)

This verse is a reminder not to be deceived by our eyes. I would like to highlight this deception in our quest for sexual purity. The more nudity and impurity we indulge our eyes on, the more unsatisfied our souls become. And if the unceasing consumption of something does not satisfy, it is axiomatic that we become emptier the more we imbibe it. Men, who are primarily sexually visual, must know t...

Bible Challenge Ministries and Logos- The Ultimate Bible Board Game

Before I got married, I served in several ministries in church. My favourite was the Bible Challenge ministry. We would meet once in a year and train to compete with other churches for the Bible Challenge trophy 🏆. During the competition, we had the judges test our knowledge of the book we memorised in a Bible trivia. We were tested on the authorship of the book, the purpose of the writer, the time it was written, the original language of the manuscript, the meaning of the contents of the letter...

Logos: The Ultimate Bible Board Game

The Wamboye family has innovated a new board game. We are calling it “Logos: The Ultimate Bible Board Game.” Logos is an idea that started in 2017. Over the years, while doing youth ministry, we noticed a few gaps in the mission field. From a general observation, biblical illiteracy seemed to be on a steady increase, especially among urban youth and teens. Some had access to the scriptures but struggled to draw out their power for everyday living. Our time in the mission field has proven this fu...
