How to have a quiet time?
This quarantine season presents the perfect time for believers to learn how to feed themselves spiritually though a quiet time. The average believer today is often over-dependent on his or her pastor for spiritual nourishment. They depend on one sermon to take them through the week. Thats is why some believers in Kenya were panicking when the Covid-19 prevented church attendance. They are over-dependent on the man of God instead of being dependent on the God of the man. Imagine having one...

Accounting for your personal purity during the quarantine.
Of the top 10 visited websites in Kenya, two are porn sites. About 3 are betting/gambling sites. This means that more than half of our golden Internet time as Kenyans is dedicated to addiction. During this quarantine season, more people are online than before. And without the monitoring systems of work and HR, it is not unusual to hear that porn sites have experienced spikes of viewership.
These may be non-issues for the world. But for the born-again Christian, this can be a make or break for...

The Compulsion of Calamity
THE COMPULSION OF CALAMITY
The Corona virus pandemic has left thousands dead and even thousands more infected. The world has almost come to a grinding halt because of this calamitous disease. Calamity compels us to consider the fragility of our earthly life. It is here today and gone tomorrow like a vapour in the wind. Our lives are truly like the grass in the field; here today and gone tomorrow. Calamity also compels us to think critically about the big four questions:
Origin- where do we...March 10, 2020
When the dream experiences delay
When the dream experiences delay
Every believer knows that they are saved because they have acknowledged that Jesus is Lord, that He is the saviour of the world, that through Him our sins are forgiven, that we have His Holy Spirit dwelling inside of us and that we have access to eternal life our of pure mercy and grace and not as a result of anything we have done. This believer must also realise that he has been placed on earth for a purpose. And often God reveals that purpose as a dream or...

Should a Christian practice yoga? reblogged article by John Mbuya Njuguna
Late last year, I encountered two demon-possessed persons in one of my teachings. They willingly came forward for prayer at the end of the sermon but suddenly turned violent. One of them blurted all forms of obscenities and kept shouting that the girl belonged to them and that they were not leaving. The unclean spirit in the second person kept pleading not to be cast out because this was their home and they knew no other place to go. I usually do not document...

Is your Church’s “theme for the year” really from God?
Is your Church’s “theme for the year” really from God?
As the New Year starts, churches in my country roll out themes for the year. Most of these themes are rolled out in vigils as churches cross into the New Year together. The themes are often things that God is saying to the local church to guide them for the rest of the year. While it is encouraging that men and women gather to worship and hear from God as the year begins, there are often a few looming concerns that one would easily...

When forgiving is hard
This year I have been privileged to learn some really important life lessons, albeit the hard way. The biggest struggle of my heart this year has been to forgive. I had often imagined myself a forgiving person. However, I have come to realize that you cannot be forgiving if you have not been offended. You cannot claim to be peaceful if you haven’t been provoked. In a sense, my heart had not been given sufficient offence to practice forgiveness. As I have sat with God in my morning quiet...

Of born-again believers and half-hearted purity
Hi Ernest, I need your advice. So my boyfriend and I have started dating. We are serious and heading for marriage. We are both born-again believers. We have made our stand on purity clear based on our values and our mutual faith in Jesus. We wanted to agree on everything so that there are no red flags. We even agreed that we would not make out, kiss and the like until the altar. We were both happy with this decision. But I spoke to a girl in my church who is a youth leader. I shared with her...

The supernatural friendship in marriage
In his book, The Meaning of Marriage, Timothy Keller alludes to three levels of friendship that are necessary for any relationship to thrive. They are:
The supernatural friendship The natural friendship The romantic friendshipThe natural friend and romantic friend are often rather obvious. So I would like to share on the supernatural friendship. A supernatural friend in marriage plays the following roles:
Spurring to godliness
A supernatural friend spurs you to walk closer to God. This is because a truly happy marriage embraces the power...

STRUGGLING WITH UNFORGIVENESS
STRUGGLING WITH UNFORGIVENESS
One of the bona fide insignias of a truly born again believer is a forgiving heart. It is by far one of the most striking characteristics in the life of someone who has encountered the grace and mercy of the Risen Christ. It is a clear sign of fruit. A self-proclaimed believer who withholds forgiveness vehemently and offers no budge in the light of the divine forgiveness they received on the cross has every reason to worry if they are truly saved in the first pla...
