A Bit of Christmas Panache

Happy Holidays from Indiana Wonderer-land! Did you have yourself a merry little Christmas, or whichever holiday you and yours celebrate this time of year? I’m happy to say we had a successful, joyful Christmas today (though our poor living room is still buried beneath toys and wrapping paper).

Even so, Christmas for us this year has felt off from the start. Oh, sure, Thanksgiving was a week later than usual. That made the shopping season shorter, the deadline for sending Christmas cards tighte...

kBookmark1I’ve seen a lot of authors lately giving away free copies of their books. And trust me, I’ve given away a number myself. But with Thanksgiving still fresh on my mind, I kept thinking:

“How could I express my gratitude to all my wonderful new fans?”

Waiting for Clarity

Happy Tuesday from snowy Indiana! Sorry it’s been a bit quiet around here lately, but I’ve been buried in rewrites and edits for book two in my Heroes series. And while the plot has been solidified, the tension ratcheted up, and motivations strengthened, I’m struggling to put my stamp of approval on this one. Not because I don’t love the story–trust me, I do!–but still there’s something holding me back.

Something that held me back for a time on Armed With Steele, too. It’s called perfectionism...

My First Author Speaking Engagement

A Fort Wayne book club recently selected my debut novelArmed With Steele as their book of the month. To say I was thrilled when I heard this would be a slight understatement. And when they asked me to come and be guest of honor at their next meeting? Yeah, I was doing back flips with joy.

Well, I would have been if I’d ever mastered the art of back flips. Oh, sure, I could do front flips all day (in my younger years). But back flips? Argh! They were the bane of my existence in seventh grade. S...

A Month of Firsts

Ah, firsts. Firsts come in all different shapes and sizes, events and emotions. They can be scary (first trip to the dentist, first cavity filling, first day of school). They can be exciting (first kiss, first drive alone with your new license). But they will always share one thing in common—that they’re your first. It’s up to you how you choose to receive them.

For as much a proponent of change I am at my day job, I’m not a huge fan of “firsts”. Rather, I’m the kind of person who likes to kno...

Kyra Jacobs has been…missing?

Happy weekend, everyone!

So, I feel the need to apologize (and yes, there are those of my friends who are smacking themselves in the forehead right now and muttering something to the affect of, “Why? Why does she always feel the need to apologize for everything?”) for not being more attentive to my blog of late. And to be honest, my primary excuses are just that:

Excuses.

Life happens, things get hectic, blah, blah, blah. Wah.

Unacceptable, I know.

But there’s good news mixed into this post, belie...
