Cinco Pasos Para Tomar Decisiones Sabias

“Pues hay un tiempo y un modo para cada cosa, incluso cuando uno está en apuros. Además, ¿cómo puede uno evitar lo que no sabe que está por suceder?”. Eclesiastés 8:6-7 (NTV)

Durante el resto de tu vida, intentarás determinar el momento adecuado para muchas decisiones que debes tomar. Puede ser decidir sobre un cambio educativo, un cambio de carrera o un cambio en una relación.

La Biblia nos dice: “Pues hay un tiempo y un modo para cada cosa, incluso cuando uno está en apuros. Además, ¿cómo puede uno evitar lo que no sabe que está por suceder?” Eclesiastés 8:6-7 (NTV).

Debido a que el tiempo es una parte importante de cualquier decisión, ten en cuenta estos cinco pasos cuando tengas que decidir algo:

Dedica el tiempo necesario para tomar la decisión correcta.

“Ya que vivimos por el Espíritu, sigamos la guía del Espíritu en cada aspecto de nuestra vida” Gálatas 5:25 (NTV).

¡La prisa es enemiga de las buenas decisiones! Deje que Dios establezca el tiempo para tus decisiones. Su momento siempre será el mejor, así que puedes entregarle el tuyo.

Guarda silencio y escucha la Palabra de Dios.

“Consideré el rumbo de mi vida y decidí volver a tus leyes” Salmo 119:59 (NTV).

No puedes oír el susurro de la voz de Dios si tu vida está llena de otros ruidos. Por eso es tan importante que pases tiempo a solas con Dios. La voluntad de Dios se encuentra en la Palabra de Dios.

Oren los unos por los otros.

“Mis amados hermanos, les pido encarecidamente en el nombre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo que se unan a mi lucha orando a Dios por mí. Háganlo por el amor que me tienen, ese amor que el Espíritu Santo les ha dado” Romanos 15:30 (NTV).

Cuando le pides a otras personas que oren con ti acerca de una decisión, pueden ofrecerte aliento y apoyo. Pueden pedirle a Dios que les dé enfoque y claridad.

Considera lo que haces mejor.

“Dios, de su gran variedad de dones espirituales, les ha dado un don a cada uno de ustedes. Úsenlos bien para servirse los unos a los otros” 1 Pedro 4:10 (NTV).

Dios te dio dones para que puedas usarlos para ayudar a otros. Asegúrate de que tu decisión te ayude a pasar más tiempo compartiendo tus dones y talentos con los demás.

Busca el consejo de amigos sabios.

“Sin liderazgo sabio, la nación se hunde; la seguridad está en tener muchos consejeros” Proverbios 11:14 (NTV).

Tienes que querer más que tu propia perspectiva cuando intentas determinar el momento adecuado para tomar una decisión. Obtén la ayuda de amigos piadosos, un mentor o un pastor. Encuentra a las personas más sabias que conoces y escucha sus consejos.

Al considerar tu decisión, recuerda: Dios es el creador del tiempo y lo controla todo. Eso significa que Su tiempo nunca es demasiado tarde ni demasiado temprano.

Puedes confiar en que llegará justo a tiempo, ¡en su tiempo!

The Resurrection of Jesus Changed Everything

“I am the one who raises the dead and gives them life again. Anyone who believes in me, even though he dies like anyone else, shall live again. He is given eternal life for believing in me and shall never perish.”

John 11:25-26 (TLB)

The resurrection of Jesus changed everything. It literally split history into A.D. and B.C. It’s the most important event in human history. And it proves three things.

First, the resurrection proves that Jesus is exactly who he claimed to be. He repeatedly said he was the Son of God who came to die for our sins. And he did just that. The resurrection of Jesus Christ is one of the most well-documented events in history. It would stand up in any court of law. In fact, it has many, many times throughout centuries.

The apostle Paul said, “For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, and then to the Twelve. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, and last of all he appeared to me also” (1 Corinthians 15:3-8 NIV).

Second, the resurrection proves that Jesus keeps his promises. Jesus told his disciples that he would “be killed and on the third day be raised to life” (Matthew 16:21 NIV). Because Jesus kept that promise, you can trust the other promises in the Word of God. The Bible says, “For no matter how many promises God has made, they are ‘Yes’ in Christ. . . . [He] set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come” (2 Corinthians 1:20, 22 NIV).

Third, the resurrection proves that there is life after death. Because of Jesus Christ’s resurrection, we have hope for the future. And it is a hope that will not disappoint (see Romans 5:5). Jesus said, “I am the one who raises the dead and gives them life again. Anyone who believes in me, even though he dies like anyone else, shall live again. He is given eternal life for believing in me and shall never perish” (John 11:25-26 TLB).

Where else are you going to get a promise like that? Nowhere! Who else can give that to you? No one! If you don’t get it from Jesus, you won’t have it. That is an amazing benefit, and it’s available to you today. What’s the qualification? You must believe.

The Bible says, “This Good News tells us how God makes us right in his sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the Scriptures say, ‘It is through faith that a righteous person has life’” (Romans 1:17 NLT). God’s Word also says, “It is by grace you have been saved, through faith — and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God — not by works, so that no one can boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9 NIV).

The Good News is that the death and resurrection of Jesus give us access to God. In other words, we can only get to heaven by trusting in God through his Son, Jesus Christ. “God says he will accept and acquit us—declare us ‘not guilty’—if we trust Jesus Christ to take away our sins. And we all can be saved in this same way, by coming to Christ, no matter who we are or what we have been like” (Romans 3:22 TLB).

Talk It Over

What does it mean to you to know that Jesus’ resurrection is a well-documented historical fact?
Does Jesus’ resurrection help you trust the Bible’s promises more? Why or why not?
Have you committed your life to Christ? If so, what difference has that decision made for you? If not, what’s keeping you from making that commitment today?

Prayer of commitment to Christ

If you are ready to commit your life to Jesus Christ, then pray this prayer:

“Dear Jesus, you have promised that if I believe in you, everything I’ve ever done wrong will be forgiven, I will learn the purpose of my life, and you will accept me into your eternal home in heaven one day.

“I confess my sin, and I believe that you are God, my Savior. I receive you into my life as my Lord. Today I’m turning over every part of my life to your management. You have the right to call the shots in my life.

“Jesus, I want to relax in your love. Thank you that I don’t have to earn it or deserve it or work for it. I want to use the rest of my life to serve you instead of serving myself. I humbly commit my life to you and ask you to save me and accept me into your family. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.”

Sé realista con Dios

“Dios se opone a los orgullosos, pero da gracia a los humildes”. Santiago 4:6 (NVI)

¿Has pensado alguna vez en la importancia de un nombre?

El “hombre” con el que Jacob luchó en Génesis 32 era en realidad Dios, así que es curioso que el hombre le preguntara a Jacob cuál era su nombre.

Obviamente, Dios conoce el nombre de Jacob. Cada vez que Dios te hace una pregunta, nunca es para Su beneficio; es para el tuyo. Él ya conoce la respuesta.

Hoy en día, la gente suele elegir nombres porque suenan bien. Pero en los tiempos bíblicos, tu nombre era una descripción de tu carácter.

En hebreo, “Jacob” significaba originalmente “engañador” o “manipulador”, y hasta ese momento, Jacob había hecho honor a su nombre. Primero, engañó a su padre. Luego engañó a su hermano. Y luego utilizó y manipuló a su suegro. Jacob tenía un historial de causar una angustia tras otra, y su nombre lo reflejaba.

Cuando Dios pregunta a Jacob: “¿Cómo te llamas?”, es una llamada a la confesión. Jacob está confesando sus años de confabulación. Está admitiendo que él mismo es su mayor problema.

Para que puedas cumplir el sueño que Dios tiene para tu vida, tienes que dejar de excusarte. Tienes que dejar de culpar a otros por tus faltas. Tienes que dejar de racionalizar tus debilidades.

Santiago 4:6 dice: “Dios se opone a los orgullosos, pero da gracia a los humildes” (NVI).

El sueño que Dios tiene para tu vida es enorme, maravilloso, lleno de bendiciones y con un poder increíble. Pero no lo podrás lograr por tu cuenta. Necesitas la gracia de Dios. Y Dios solo da su gracia a los humildes.

¿Cuál es tu rasgo de carácter más fuerte, no necesariamente el mejor, sino el más fuerte? Para muchos de nosotros, nuestros rasgos más fuertes son también algunos de nuestros peores rasgos. Por eso, puede dar un poco de miedo pensar en confesarle a Dios esas debilidades.

Pero Dios te conoce mejor que tú mismo. Nada le sorprenderá. Él quiere que seas sincero para que puedas tener un cambio real en tu vida, no porque nada de esto sea nuevo para Él.

Dios ya sabía el nombre de Jacob. Sólo quería que Jacob confesara su pecado para que Él pudiera darle Su bendición.

Avanzar en tu lucha y comenzar el sueño de Dios para tu vida vendrán cuando seas real y sincero con Dios.

Reflexiona sobre esto:

¿Qué temes admitir ante Dios acerca de ti mismo?¿De qué manera excusas tus debilidades, incluso las más pequeñas?¿Por qué la confesión es algo que debes hacer a lo largo del día y no sólo una vez al día o en determinados momentos?

¿Has confiado en Jesús para tu salvación?

La Biblia dice que sólo podemos llegar al cielo confiando en Dios a través de su Hijo, Jesucristo. No podemos ganarnos el cielo: “Dios los salvó por su gracia cuando creyeron. Ustedes no tienen ningún mérito en eso; es un regalo de Dios. La salvación no es un premio por las cosas buenas que hayamos hecho, así que ninguno de nosotros puede jactarse de ser salvo” Efesios 2:8-9 (NTV).

Si estás dispuesto a aceptar el don de Dios y a confiar en Jesús, empieza por orar:

“Querido Dios, me has prometido que si creo en Jesús, todo lo que he hecho mal será perdonado, aprenderé el propósito de mi vida y me aceptarás en tu hogar eterno en el cielo algún día.

Confieso mi pecado y me someto a Jesús como mi Salvador y Señor. Jesús, quiero seguirte y servirte. Humildemente te entrego mi vida y te pido que me salves y me aceptes en tu familia. Te lo ruego en tu nombre. Amén”.

Standing Out at Work

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as though you were working for the Lord and not for people.”

Colossians 3:23 (GNT)

The Bible identifies five characteristics of people who excel at what they do.

They work with enthusiasm. Regardless of whether the job is big or small, give it your best. Great performers give their best effort, no matter what the size of the audience: “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as though you were working for the Lord and not for people” (Colossians 3:23 GNT).

They sharpen their skills. They never stop developing, growing, learning, and improving: “If your ax is dull and you don’t sharpen it, you have to work harder to use it. It is smarter to plan ahead” (Ecclesiastes 10:10 GNT). It takes more than desire to excel; it takes skill! Remember: You’re never wasting time when you’re “sharpening your ax.

They keep their word. They are reliable. They can be counted on to do what they say they’ll do. They excel because people of integrity are rare in our society: “Everyone talks about how loyal and faithful he is, but just try to find someone who really is!” (Proverbs 20:6 GNT).

They maintain a positive attitude. Even under the worst circumstances, they don’t become negative: “Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation. Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky as you hold firmly to the word of life” (Philippians 2:14-16 NIV). And remember: “If your boss is angry at you, don’t quit! A quiet spirit can overcome even great mistakes” (Ecclesiastes 10:4 NLT).

People who excel do more than is expected. This is a secret that every successful person has discovered. You’ll never excel by only doing what is required. Jesus said, “If someone takes unfair advantage of you, use the occasion to practice the servant life. No more tit-for-tat stuff. Live generously” (Matthew 5:40-42 MSG).

The Broadway lyricist Oscar Hammerstein once told the story of seeing the top of the Statue of Liberty from a helicopter. He was impressed because of the incredible detail the artist sculpted on an area that no one was expected to see. In fact, the Statue of Liberty was completed with no idea that man would someday be able to fly over the statue!

When you’re tempted to cut corners, thinking, “No one will ever know,” remember that God sees everything you do. Give him your best this week!

Cuando la Prueba de Dios Dura Hasta el Amanecer

“No nos cansemos de hacer el bien, porque a su debido tiempo cosecharemos si no nos damos por vencidos”. Gálatas 6:9 (NVI)

No tienes fuerzas para luchar con Dios. Si te metes en un combate con Él, va a ganar a menos que te deje ganar.

En Génesis 32, Jacob tiene una lucha de toda la noche con Dios. Dios podría haber vencido fácilmente a Jacob y terminar el combate al instante. Sin embargo, Dios dejó que la lucha continuara. ¿Por qué?

Cuando Dios utiliza una crisis para llamar tu atención, a menudo no la resuelve inmediatamente.

Dios quiere ver si realmente vas en serio. ¿Realmente quieres su bendición? ¿Realmente quieres su sueño para tu vida? ¿Realmente quieres su plan y propósito para ti más que cualquier otra cosa?

Cuando le dices a Dios: “Tengo que tener tu propósito y tu sueño para mí. No voy a soltarte hasta que me bendigas”, ahí es cuando Dios dice: “De acuerdo, ahora estamos hablando”.

Si Dios contestara cada oración en tu vida inmediatamente, entonces lo tratarías como una máquina expendedora. Y serías como un niño malcriado.

Dios no está en el negocio de las soluciones rápidas. Está más interesado en que aprendas a confiar en Él mientras te mueve hacia tu sueño.

Muchas personas se pierden lo mejor de Dios porque se rinden demasiado pronto. No están dispuestos a luchar hasta el amanecer. No están dispuestas a decirle a Dios que quieren su bendición. Oran una o dos veces, o incluso durante un mes, y Dios no responde a sus oraciones como ellos quieren. Y entonces, se dan por vencidos.

No sabes cuánto tiempo va a poner Dios a prueba tu fe, pero tienes esta promesa de Gálatas 6:9 “No nos cansemos de hacer el bien, porque a su debido tiempo cosecharemos si no nos damos por vencidos” (NVI).  

No te rindas. Esta es una prueba con una recompensa increíble si perseveras.

¿De qué manera tu vida revela que deseas el propósito y el sueño de Dios para ti más que cualquier otra cosa?¿Por qué puedes confiar en las promesas que Dios hace en su Palabra, la Biblia?¿Qué lucha te ha dejado cansado hoy? Reliable People Get Promoted

“So Potiphar gave Joseph complete administrative responsibility over everything he owned. With Joseph there, he didn’t worry about a thing—except what kind of food to eat!”

Genesis 39:6 (NLT)

The greatest compliment a boss can pay you is, “I’m not worried,” because it says that you are reliable, trustworthy, and steady. They can count on you.

Genesis 39:6 says, “So Potiphar gave Joseph complete administrative responsibility over everything he owned. With Joseph there, he didn’t worry about a thing—except what kind of food to eat!” (NLT).

How would you like to have the kind of job where all you had to worry about was what to eat? Potiphar trusted Joseph and gave the former slave complete decision-making power because he knew he could rely on him.

That’s why Joseph kept getting promoted—because all of his bosses could say, “I trust this guy with my life.” When he was in prison, Joseph had favor with the warden, who put the entire prison under Joseph’s care. That’s how much the warden trusted Joseph. Joseph was reliable—so the warden didn’t have to worry about anything with Joseph in charge.

Reliability is earning the trust of others by always keeping your promises and fulfilling your responsibilities, even if it requires sacrifice.

Joseph knew how to be reliable. He got promoted because he fulfilled his responsibilities. He kept his word even if it meant personal hurt, loss, and sacrifice. Can the same be said of you?

Persevera para Recibir la Bendición de Dios

“No te dejaré ir a menos que me bendigas”. Génesis 32:26 (NTV)

Cuando Dios bendijo a Jacob, prometió darle tierras, multiplicar su familia, convertirlo en una nación poderosa y usarlo para bendecir al mundo. Hizo de Jacob y su familia el pueblo escogido de Dios.

Pero tal como lo hace contigo hoy, Dios le dio una promesa a Jacob y luego probó su fe en esa promesa.

En Génesis 32, Jacob luchó con Dios toda la noche en un combate de lucha que puso a prueba su paciencia, fe y confianza. Entonces Dios hirió a Jacob en la cadera y le dio una seria desventaja. Jacob estaba herido y cansado, y, sin embargo, al amanecer, todavía dijo: “No te dejaré ir a menos que me bendigas” Génesis 32:26 (NTV).

¿No es algo interesante para decirle a alguien con quien estás luchando? Aparentemente, en algún momento durante esta lucha de toda la noche, Jacob se dio cuenta con quien estaba luchando, no era un individuo común, sino Dios mismo. Eso significaba que Dios podía bendecirlo. Y así, se negó a dejarlo ir.

Tal vez sientas que estás luchando con Dios en este momento, y la lucha está durando demasiado. Tal vez no quieras hacer las cosas que Dios te ha dicho que hagas, como diezmar u obedecer sus reglas sobre el sexo o ser amable con tus enemigos.

El mismo Dios con el que estás luchando es el que te da el sueño para tu vida. ¡Él es quien hará que suceda! Dios no está tratando de frustrar tu sueño. Él te está preparando para ello. Su lucha aumentará tu resistencia, profundizará tu paciencia y aumentará tu resiliencia.

Tu lucha también te llevará al punto del compromiso. Justo en el momento en que crees que tienes que rendirte, tienes que dirigirte a Dios y decirle: “Estoy en esta lucha todo el tiempo que sea necesario para que hagas tu buena obra en mí y me bendigas”.

Ese tipo de respuesta a la prueba de Dios le mostrará que estás listo para Su sueño para tu vida.

Reflexiona sobre esto:

¿Qué cosas en tu vida crees que Dios querría bendecir? ¿Qué cosas te impiden recibir su bendición?¿Cómo te ayuda Dios cuando te comprometes con su obra en tu vida, incluso cuando es doloroso?¿De qué manera tu lucha con Dios ha fortalecido tu resistencia, profundizado tu paciencia o aumentado tu resiliencia?

No hay condenación para los que son de Cristo

Por lo que hizo Jesús en la cruz, no tienes por qué temer a la muerte. Jesús ha pagado por tus pecados y te ha preparado una hermosa eternidad en el cielo. Pero la vida eterna no se puede ganar; tienes que aceptar ese regalo confiando en Jesús. La Biblia dice: “Dios los salvó por su gracia cuando creyeron. Ustedes no tienen ningún mérito en eso; es un regalo de Dios. La salvación no es un premio por las cosas buenas que hayamos hecho, así que ninguno de nosotros puede jactarse de ser salvo” Efesios 2:8-9 (NTV).

Si nunca has aceptado la gracia y la misericordia de Dios, ¿por qué esperar más? Si estás listo para cruzar esa línea y tomar la decisión de seguir a Jesús, haz esta oración:

“Querido Dios, necesito tu misericordia. Sé que un día voy a morir y enfrentar la eternidad. En mi vida aquí en la tierra, me he equivocado. He amado otras cosas más de lo que te he amado a ti. He vivido según mi plan, no el tuyo. He pecado y te pido perdón. Quiero vivir según tu plan, a partir de ahora.

Jesús, gracias por morir en la cruz por mí. Sé que no merezco tu perdón. Nunca podría ser lo suficientemente bueno para entrar en un lugar perfecto como el cielo. Así que, como aquel ladrón en la cruz, humildemente te digo: “Acuérdate de mí”. Te pido que me salves y que me ayudes mientras enfrento las heridas, los hábitos y los complejos que tan a menudo me hacen tropezar.

Loyalty Makes You Stand Out at Work

“Joseph was a very handsome and well-built young man, and Potiphar’s wife soon began to look at him lustfully. ‘Come and sleep with me,’ she demanded. But Joseph refused. ‘Look,’ he told her, ‘my master trusts me with everything in his entire household . . . He has held back nothing from me except you, because you are his wife. How could I do such a wicked thing?’”

Genesis 39:6-9 (NLT)

Loyalty is a quality that is in short supply in our society today. It seems like nobody is loyal to anything anymore. There’s no such thing as brand loyalty. And most people aren’t loyal to companies or bosses or leaders. They’re loyal to themselves.

Loyalty is an old-fashioned quality. But when a person exhibits a rare quality like loyalty, that person gets promoted. It makes you stand out!

Loyalty is being faithful—whether it’s to your boss or to God or to someone else—when difficulty tests your commitment.

It’s easy to be loyal when everything is going great, but when the ship goes into the storm, that’s when real loyalty comes out. And because God is more interested in your character than your career, your loyalty will be tested in your work. In the middle of those storms, he’s seeing if he can trust you with greater responsibility in heaven.

Joseph had a tough test. The Bible says, “Joseph was a very handsome and well-built young man, and Potiphar’s wife soon began to look at him lustfully. ‘Come and sleep with me,’ she demanded. But Joseph refused. ‘Look,’ he told her, ‘my master trusts me with everything in his entire household . . . He has held back nothing from me except you, because you are his wife. How could I do such a wicked thing?’” (Genesis 39:6-9 NLT).

Now that’s loyalty! Joseph’s got a beautiful woman throwing herself at him, reassuring him, “You think I’m going to tell my husband? Are you kidding me? Nobody’s going to know. You can have your cake and eat it too. You can be the master, and we can have a fling. It’ll be great. No harm, no foul!”

I’m sure Potiphar was an imperfect boss because every boss is imperfect. I’m sure Joseph probably disagreed with his boss a lot of the time because they were both human. Nobody gets it right all of the time.

But Joseph still turned her down because of loyalty to his boss. He honored the trust that had been placed in him by his master.

God looks at that kind of loyalty and goes, “That’s the kind of person I’m going to promote.”

Don’t you want God to say the same about you?

Talk It Over

Why does God want you to exhibit loyalty at your business and with your boss?
Why is it important for a loyal person to also be consistent?
What do you want to accomplish in your work or career? How might being loyal to your company help you accomplish that?

Will you follow Jesus today?

The Bible says you can only get to heaven by trusting in God’s Son, Jesus Christ. You can’t earn your way into heaven: “It is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9 NIV).


If you’re ready to commit your life to Jesus, start by praying this prayer:

“Dear God, you have promised that if I believe in your Son, Jesus Christ, everything I’ve ever done wrong will be forgiven, I will learn the purpose of my life, and you will accept me into your eternal home in heaven one day.

“I confess I have sinned, and I ask for your forgiveness. I believe that Jesus died to take away my sins and that you raised him to life. I want to trust Jesus as my Savior and follow him as Lord from this day forward. Guide my life and help me to do your will. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.”

¿Cuál es el Propósito de Mi Lucha?

“El castigo físico limpia la maldad; semejante disciplina purifica el corazón”. Proverbios 20:30 (NTV)

Piensa en el mayor conflicto o problema que enfrentas en este momento.

Sin siquiera saber qué es, puedes reducir ese problema a dos problemas básicos. Primero, ¿obedecerás a Dios y harás lo correcto en esta situación? Y, segundo, ¿confiarás en que Dios se encargará de esta situación?

La raíz de tantos problemas es realmente tu lucha con Dios. Quieres tener el control, quieres ser Dios, quieres ser el amo de tu fe, quieres estar a cargo, quieres tomar las decisiones. Pero nunca debiste ser o hacer ninguna de esas cosas. Entonces Dios usa una crisis en tu vida para hacer que te des cuenta.

¿Alguna vez has sentido que lidiar con tus problemas es como un combate de lucha libre? El objetivo de la lucha libre es inmovilizar al oponente en la lona hasta que finalmente diga: “Me rindo. ¡Me rindo! Tienes el control”.

Eso es lo que Dios estaba haciendo en su lucha libre con Jacob en el Antiguo Testamento. Iba a inmovilizar a Jacob hasta que se rindiera y cediera el control.

En un momento de su combate de lucha libre, Dios hirió la cadera de Jacob, una herida que le dejaría una cojera persistente. Jacob estaba de repente en una posición de impotencia y en una situación en la que no podía ganar.

Incluso en medio de tu situación sin salida, Dios está ahí. De hecho, a menudo usa una crisis para llamar tu atención. Dios te susurra en tu placer, pero te grita en tu dolor.

La Biblia dice: “El castigo físico limpia la maldad; semejante disciplina purifica el corazón” Proverbios 20:30 (NTV). En otras palabras, no cambias cuando ves la luz; cambias cuando sientes el calor.

Dios te ama como eres, pero te ama demasiado como para dejar que te quedes así. Cuando te hace pasar por un combate de lucha libre, te está convirtiendo en lo que estabas destinado a ser, más como Jesucristo. Te debilita para que aprendas a depender de Él para todo lo que necesites.

Rara vez cambias hasta que tu dolor es mayor que tu temor al cambio. Si estás luchando con Dios en este momento, ríndete a Él. Ahí está la única manera de avanzar por un camino marcado por el crecimiento espiritual y la paz.

Reflexiona sobre esto:

¿Por qué Dios quiere que dependas de Él y no de ti mismo?En tus circunstancias actuales, ¿cómo sería rendirse a Dios?¿En qué experiencia dolorosa Dios está tratando de llamar tu atención?Si todavía no has confiado en Jesús y no te has comprometido a seguirlo, ¿por qué esperar más? Si estás listo para cruzar esa línea y tomar la decisión de creer en Jesucristo y seguirlo; haz esta oración.

Greater Capacity Means Greater Responsibility

“Potiphar . . . made Joseph his personal attendant. He put him in charge of his entire household and everything he owned. From the day Joseph was put in charge of his master’s household and property, the LORD began to bless Potiphar’s household for Joseph’s sake.”

Genesis 39:4-5 (NLT)

What is your potential for growth?

Are you going to read any books in the next year? Are you going to take any seminars? Are you going to grow? Are you going to develop any skills? Are you going to learn any relationship skills? Or are you just going to be the same 10 years from today as you are right now?

Capacity is your potential for growth. It’s important because people who increase in competence are given greater responsibility in their work.

All leaders are learners. The moment you stop learning, you stop leading. Growing businesses requires growing people. The moment the people stop growing, the business can’t grow.

I remember having staff members at Saddleback Church whose number-one characteristic was the ability to keep growing and learning. They didn’t insist on doing the same thing they had always done but instead tried new methods and came up with new ideas.

This is what happened with Joseph. He grew in capacity by stretching himself and learning and growing. Genesis 39:4-5 says, “Potiphar . . . made Joseph his personal attendant. He put him in charge of his entire household and everything he owned. From the day Joseph was put in charge of his master’s household and property, the LORD began to bless Potiphar’s household for Joseph’s sake” (NLT).

Is God blessing the business you work for? Is that church, that business, that organization prospering because you’re there? Do you have that kind of capacity?

When Joseph was put in charge, the Lord began to bless Potiphar for Joseph’s sake: “All his household affairs ran smoothly, and his crops and livestock flourished” (Genesis 39:5 NLT). Why? Because Joseph had capacity.

When Joseph was first taken to Egypt as a slave, he wasn’t able to handle all that stuff. He had to learn how to manage livestock and a household. He had to learn and grow as he was given more responsibility.

If you stop learning new skills and say, “That’s all I need to know,” you’re limiting your capacity. But if you keep learning, you’ll keep growing, and God will keep blessing.

What are some practical steps you can take this week to learn a new skill or gain new knowledge about your job or your field of work?
Increasing your capacity often takes initiative and sometimes even sacrifice. Why is it important for an employer to see these traits in you?
Are you considering a career change because you believe you’ve gone as far as you can go in your present job? Spend some time in prayer, asking God to show you how you grow personally and professionally.
