Dios Dice Que Eres Competente

“Pues Dios nos salvó y nos llamó para vivir una vida santa. No lo hizo porque lo mereciéramos, sino porque ese era su plan desde antes del comienzo del tiempo, para mostrarnos su gracia por medio de Cristo Jesús”. 2 Timoteo 1:9 (NTV)

Dios dice que has sido dotado para el ministerio de servir a otras personas. Cada cristiano es un ministro. Eso no significa que cada cristiano es un pastor, pero tú eres un ministro. Cada vez que utilizas tus talentos y tus dones para ayudar a otros, estás ministrando.

La Biblia dice en 2 Timoteo 1:9 que Dios “Dios nos salvó y nos llamó para vivir una vida santa…” (NTV). Tú eres salvo para servir. ¿Por qué Dios te salvó? Entonces así podrías servirlo.

Tú podrías estar pensando: “¿Cómo sé cuál es mi ministerio?”. Observa tu FORMA: Formación Espiritual (Dones Espirituales), Oportunidades del Corazón, Recursos (Habilidades), Mi Personalidad y Antecedentes (Experiencias). Mira cómo Dios te formó. Dios quiere que uses tus talentos y dones para ayudar a otras personas. Cada vez que haces eso, eso se llama ministerio —nada de lujos. Simplemente es ayudar a otros.

¿Puedes ministrar en una oficina de ventas? Sí, tú puedes. ¿Puedes ministrar como contador? Sí, tú puedes. ¿Puedes ministrar como conductor de un camión? ¡Por supuesto! Cuando estás ayudando a otras personas en Su Nombre, estás ministrando.

Dios dice que eres necesario en la iglesia. Eres una parte esencial de su familia. Míralo de esta manera: si no uso mis talentos, te engaño. Si no usas tus talentos, me engañas. Y, de cualquier forma, todos los demás en el Cuerpo de Cristo son engañados.

¡Todos somos importantes! Todos somos necesarios para hacer nuestra parte mientras encajamos.

Get a Grip on God’s Word

“The message of his grace . . . is able to build you up and give you the blessings God has for all his people.”

Acts 20:32 (GNT)

The Bible is your soul food. When you feed on the Word of God, you grow. You can’t be physically healthy if you eat junk food all the time. In the same way, you can’t be spiritually healthy unless you feed on the truth of God’s Word.

Would you like to have all the blessings that God has for you? Of course you would! I want that for you too. 

How do you get those blessings? They’re a direct result of spiritual maturity. The Bible says, “The message of his grace . . . is able to build you up and give you the blessings God has for all his people” (Acts 20:32 GNT).

What does it mean for the message of God’s grace to build you up and give you blessings? It means that, when you grow in spiritual maturity, God can give you all the blessings he has for you. There are some gifts you can’t give young children because they aren’t mature enough for them yet. In the same way, there are some gifts God wants to give you, but he’s waiting for you to grow up.

You can actually use your hand to help you remember how to use the Bible to grow in spiritual maturity. You feed on the Word of God by doing six things: You hear God’s Word—that’s your pinky finger. You read it—that’s your ring finger. You study it—that’s your middle finger. You memorize it—that’s your pointer finger. Then, you meditate on it—that’s your thumb. Your palm represents applying God’s Word.

It’s important to do all six of those things as you feed on God’s Word.

Think of it this way: If the only spiritual input you get is hearing the Word of God at church, then you won’t have a very strong understanding of it—just like you can’t have a very strong grip with just your pinky finger. In fact, some studies suggest we forget as much as 95 percent of everything we hear within 72 hours! If the only exposure you have to God’s Word is hearing it at church, then Satan will be able to steal your joy pretty easily.

But if you hear the Word of God and then you read it every day, you’ve got a better grip. Satan can’t pull it away from you as quickly. Then if you hear it and read it and study it, then you’ve got an even stronger grip.

When you do all six things—hear, read, study, memorize, meditate on, and apply it—you’ll have a firm, strong grip on God’s Word. No one will be able to take it away from you. And you’ll find yourself growing toward spiritual maturity and receiving the blessings that come with it.

Talk It Over

To grow, you need to commit to spending time in God’s Word every day. Set yourself a goal to study the Bible for the same amount of time, at the same time every day for the next six weeks. (You could even commit to just five minutes a day!) Put it in writing and tell a trusted friend who can help hold you accountable.
What are the biggest distractions that keep you from studying the Bible every day? Are those things more important to you than growing spiritually?

Dios Dice Que Eres Valioso

“Dios pagó un alto precio por ustedes, así que no se dejen esclavizar por el mundo”. 1 Corintios 7:23 (NTV)

Dios dice que no sólo eres aceptado, también eres valioso.

¿Cuánto crees que vales? No estoy hablando de tu patrimonio neto. Estoy hablando de tu autoestima. Nunca confundas tus objetos de valor con tu valor como persona. Puedes ser rico o pobre, pero no tiene nada que ver con tu valor como persona.

¿Qué determina el valor de algo? Estas son las dos cosas principales:

Depende de lo que alguien esté dispuesto a pagar por ello. ¿Cuánto vale tu casa? Probablemente no tanto como te gustaría que valiera, y tal vez no tanto como valía hace un año. Tu casa vale lo que alguien esté dispuesto a pagar, no más.

¿Cuánto vale una tarjeta de béisbol? Para algunas personas, no vale nada. Para un coleccionista, podría valer mucho dinero. ¡Algunas personas están dispuestas a pagar miles de dólares por una tarjeta de béisbol!

¿Cuánto vale una obra de arte? Lo que alguien esté dispuesto a pagar por ella.

Depende de quién lo haya tenido en el pasado. A veces, algo es valioso debido a quién solía poseerlo. Por ejemplo, ¿un carro de Elvis Presley sería más valioso que un automóvil de tu propiedad? Probablemente. ¿O sería una guitarra más valiosa porque era propiedad de John Lennon? Leí acerca de un par de zapatos para baloncesto apestosos, malolientes y usados, que se vendieron por $ 190,373 en una subasta porque alguna vez los usó alguien llamado Michael Jordan.

En función de estos dos factores, ¿cuál es tu valor? Pregúntate: “¿A quién pertenezco?” y “¿Cuánto pagó por mí?” La Biblia dice: “Dios pagó un alto precio por ustedes, así que no se dejen esclavizar por el mundo”  1 Corintios 7:23 (NTV).

Has sido comprado y Cristo pagó por ti. Perteneces a Jesús. ¿Cuánto vales?

Ahora pregúntate: “¿A quién pertenezco?” La Biblia dice que perteneces a Dios. Dios intercambió a su propio Hijo por ti. La cruz demuestra tu valor. Jesús pagó un alto precio por ti. Eres increíblemente valioso. Nadie ha pagado un precio mayor que el que Dios pagó por ti. ¡Eres aceptado, y eres valioso!

Reflexiona sobre esto:

¿Cómo ves de manera diferente a las personas cuando consideras que cada persona es valiosa para Dios?¿Cuándo luchas por verte valioso para Dios?¿De qué manera el conocer tu valor para Dios, te ayuda a quitarte el orgullo y el miedo?¿Cómo puedes ayudar a otras personas a ver que son inmensamente valiosas para Dios?Si todavía no has confiado en Jesús y no te has comprometido a seguirlo, ¿por qué esperar más? Your Ministry of Reconciliation

“[God] has restored our relationship with him through Christ, and has given us this ministry of restoring relationships. In other words, God was using Christ to restore his relationship with humanity. He didn’t hold people’s faults against them, and he has given us this message of restored relationships to tell others.”

2 Corinthians 5:18-19 (GW)

When you want to repair a relationship where there is conflict, you want to focus on reconciliation, not resolution.

There’s a big difference! Reconciliation means reestablishing the relationship. It doesn’t mean you’ll remarry your ex or become best friends with someone who hurt you; it just means you’re at peace with each other. 

Resolution means you resolve every disagreement, and that just isn’t going to happen most of the time. Because the truth is, there are some things in your marriage, your friendships, and your work relationships that you’re just never going to agree on, because we’re all different. 

But you can disagree without being disagreeable. That’s called maturity. That’s called wisdom. That’s called being like Jesus Christ.

We can have unity without uniformity. We can walk hand in hand without seeing eye to eye. My wife Kay and I have been married for more than 50 years, and we don’t see eye to eye on a lot of things. But we walk hand in hand and support each other. We are at peace.

Here’s what I’ve learned from counseling marriages: If you focus on restoring your relationship, oftentimes the issue becomes insignificant. How many of your biggest arguments were over the smallest things? They weren’t really about that. You need to get back to focusing on the relationship.

I challenge you as a believer to commit to becoming an agent of reconciliation in a world filled with conflict. Become a bridge builder, not a wall builder. Look for ways to bring people together rather than tear them up.

The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 5:18-19, “[God] has restored our relationship with him through Christ, and has given us this ministry of restoring relationships. In other words, God was using Christ to restore his relationship with humanity. He didn’t hold people’s faults against them, and he has given us this message of restored relationships to tell others” (GW).

If you are a follower of Jesus Christ, you have a ministry of reconciliation. It’s your job to go out in society and say, “God’s done everything to put you back in fellowship with him. You don’t have to be his enemy. He’s not mad at you; he’s mad about you. Be reconciled to God. Be at peace with God. Then spread that peace with everybody else.”

Your ministry of reconciliation starts in your own relationships, as you look to God for his grace and courage to extend it to others.

Dios Dice Que Eres Aceptado

“Por lo tanto, acéptense unos a otros, tal como Cristo los aceptó a ustedes, para que Dios reciba la gloria”. Romanos 15:7 (NTV)

La mayoría de nosotros ocupamos toda nuestra vida en intentar ganar aceptación. Queremos tenerla de nuestros padres, socios en la vida, personas que respetamos, y tal vez incluso las personas a las que envidiamos. El deseo de ser aceptado es un deseo tan profundo que puede influenciar el tipo de ropa que usas, el tipo de auto que conduces, el tipo de casa que compras, e incluso la carrera que eliges.

Tal vez como niño deseabas tanto ser parte de los chicos populares. Así que si alguien te decía: “Te reto a hacer esto”, y sugerían algo que era estúpido o ponía en riesgo tu integridad física. Pero lo hacías de todas maneras porque tu deseo de ser aceptado era más grande que el deseo de estar seguro.

Lo hacemos porque amamos el sentimiento de “Estoy bien. Alguien me acepta”. Cuando eres aceptado, hace grandes cosas a tu autoestima. La verdad es, Jesús te acepta, y esa aceptación no está basada en tu desempeño. De hecho, tal vez ya hayas recibido a Cristo, pero ¿no te has dado cuenta de que fuiste capaz de hacerlo porque Jesús te acepta? No tienes que ganar su aceptación. No tienes que probarle quien eres.

Necesitamos dejar de pensar, “Tengo un Dios desagradable allá arriba, tengo que ser un chico o chica bueno para ser aceptado”. Dios, a través de Jesucristo, ya te ha aceptado. ¡Esas son buenas noticias!

La Biblia enseña, “Aunque mi padre y mi madre me abandonen, el Señor me recibirá en sus brazos” Salmos 27:10 (NVI).  Aun hoy puedes estar intentando hacerte aceptable ante un padre desagradable. Sigues intentando ganar su aceptación. Si ese eres tú, necesitas entender dos cosas:

Primero, si no has obtenido su aprobación hasta hoy, entonces jamás la tendrás –y segundo, ese es su problema, no el tuyo.

No necesitas ser aceptado por otros para agradar a Dios. Ya has sido aceptado por Dios. Tenemos más de 7 millones de personas en el planeta. Si a algunos de ellos no les agradas, ¿A quién le importa? No lo necesitas. ¡Dios ya te ha aceptado!

Reflexiona sobre esto:

¿En qué basas tu autoestima?¿Cómo te afecta físicamente el deseo de ser aceptado? ¿Qué tal emocional y espiritualmente?¿Cómo cambia tu vida el saber que eres aceptado por Dios?Te invito a hacer esta oración hoy:

“Querido Dios, admito que tengo temor, pero quiero llegar a conocerte. No lo entiendo todo, pero agradezco que me ames y me aceptes. Te agradezco que hayas estado conmigo incluso cuando no te reconocía. Te agradezco que siempre estés para mí. Gracias por no  enviar a tu hijo Jesús para condenarme, sino para salvarme”.

“Admito que nunca me di cuenta que necesitaba un Salvador, pero hoy quiero recibir el regalo de tu Hijo. Confieso que he pecado, hice cosas que no querías que hiciera. Te agradezco por enviar a tu hijo Jesús para salvarme de todos mis pecados. Sé que Él murió por mí y que su sangre me limpiará de todos mis pecados. Te pido que me salves de mis remordimientos y errores. Necesito que quites de mí el estrés y me llenes con tu amor. Necesito estar en paz contigo y necesito que pongas tu paz en mi corazón”.

“Deseo saber para qué me has puesto en la tierra. Y quiero cumplir con el propósito para el cual me creaste. Quiero aprender a amarte, confiar en ti y tener una relación contigo. Oro esto en el nombre de Jesús, amén”.

You Can Worry or You Can Worship

“If you suffer for doing what is right, God will reward you for it. So don’t worry or be afraid of their threats. Instead, you must worship Christ as Lord of your life. And if someone asks about your hope as a believer, always be ready to explain it.”

1 Peter 3:14-15 (NLT)

Christianity is not for weaklings, wimps, or the faint of heart. It takes courageous men and women to follow Jesus.

Believers around the world are suffering in terrible ways that most of us will never know. But what is it costing you to follow Christ? It’s unlikely you’ll ever have to deal with violent oppression. But you deal with silent repression every single day as culture becomes more and more secularized and anti-Christian.

When you are faced with opposition because of your faith, it’s natural to feel afraid. So how do you get rid of the fear of opposition? How do you get rid of the fear of disapproval? How do you get rid of the fear of being rejected?

You need to be filled with God’s love. The Bible says there’s no fear in love and perfect love casts out all fear. When you face opposition, you need to focus on God’s love for you. People who rest in the assurance of God’s love aren’t afraid of rejection. They aren’t afraid of disapproval. 

The Bible says in 1 Peter 3:14-15, “If you suffer for doing what is right, God will reward you for it. So don’t worry or be afraid of their threats. Instead, you must worship Christ as Lord of your life. And if someone asks about your hope as a believer, always be ready to explain it” (NLT).

You have two choices when you feel pressured to be quiet about your faith in Christ: You can worry, or you can worship. That means you either panic or you pray. You either focus on the problem and the pressure and the persecution or you focus on God.

You want to turn your attention away from the pressure you feel and turn it toward God. You have to change your focus! That’s what worship is—focusing on God. When you face opposition, turn your attention to your loving heavenly Father. Choose worship instead of worry.

La Comunidad es la Respuesta de Dios Para Vencer

“Con humildad consideren a los demás como superiores a ustedes mismos. Cada uno debe velar no solo por sus propios intereses, sino también por los intereses de los demás”. Filipenses 2:3-4 (NVI)

Cada uno de nosotros necesita de otras personas para que se fijen en nosotros, nos defiendan, nos protejan y nos ayuden a mantener el rumbo. En el libro de Filipenses, el apóstol Pablo nos dice que debemos cuidar los intereses de los demás, no solo los nuestros. ¡Qué verso tan contracultural! En Estados Unidos hoy en día, todo se trata de mí: mis necesidades, mis intereses, mis deseos y mis ambiciones. Pero Pablo nos enseña a cuidar a los demás, también.

Pero sabías que tienes un enemigo personal que quiere vencerte. Su nombre es Satanás. Él quiere traer problemas a tu vida, arruinar tus relaciones y hacerte tanto daño como pueda.

¿Por qué quiere lastimarte? Porque él quiere herir a Dios, pero no puede, así que persigue a los hijos de Dios. Por tu cuenta, nunca ganarás a Satanás. Pero cuando tienes otras personas que están a tu lado y te ayudan, puedes salir victorioso.

Un buen consejo encontramos en Eclesiastés 4:12: “Uno solo puede ser vencido, pero dos pueden resistir” (NVI).

¿Tienes a alguien a tu lado? ¿Alguien te está defendiendo y cuidando de tu bienestar espiritual? Necesitas una comunidad de personas que te digan: “Estamos contigo cuando atravieses tiempos difíciles. No vamos a dejar que te desanimes o te deprimas”.

La comunidad es la respuesta de Dios para sobrepasar el desaliento y la derrota. En Eclesiastés 4:10 dice, “Si caen, el uno levanta al otro. ¡Ay del que cae y no tiene quien lo levante!” (NVI).

Recuerda: puedes intentarlo, pero no puedes vivir la vida por tu cuenta. Todos necesitamos a otras personas que caminen con nosotros, trabajen con nosotros y tengan cuidado de nosotros.

Reflexiona sobre esto:

¿Qué personas tienes a tu lado que te están cuidando y tú a ellos?¿Cómo muestran esas personas preocupación por tu desarrollo espiritual y por tu seguridad? ¿Cómo puedes mostrar la misma preocupación por ellos y por otros creyentes?¿De qué manera has visto el poder de la comunidad derrotar los ataques de Satanás?Si todavía no has confiado en Jesús y no te has comprometido a seguirlo, ¿por qué esperar más? Remember This When You’re Opposed

“God blesses those who are persecuted for doing right, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs. God blesses you when people mock you and persecute you and lie about you and say all sorts of evil things against you because you are my followers.”

Matthew 5:10-11 (NLT)

When you feel pressured by the world because you love Jesus and other people don’t, you want to remember three things:

Opposition can make you more like Jesus.
Jesus said in John 15:18-19, “If the world hates you, remember that it hated me first. The world would love you as one of its own if you belonged to it, but you are no longer part of the world” (NLT).

If you’re going to grow up and be like Jesus, then you’re going to have to go through the things he went through, including loneliness, discouragement, stress, and temptation. What makes you think God would spare you when he didn’t spare his own Son from those things?

Opposition will deepen your faith.
Your faith is like a muscle. A muscle doesn’t grow by sitting in a chair and eating popcorn. A muscle grows by being stretched, strained, and tested. You’re never going to grow a muscle if no weight is ever pulling in the opposite direction. 

If you don’t have opposition in your life, then your faith is not growing. The strongest believers in the world right now are those who are having their faith tested the most. The Bible says in 1 Peter 1:7, “These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold” (NLT).      

Opposition will give you eternal rewards.
Matthew 5:10-11 says, “God blesses those who are persecuted for doing right, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs. God blesses you when people mock you and persecute you and lie about you and say all sorts of evil things against you because you are my followers” (NLT).

God’s going to bless anybody who’s persecuted because they live for him. Notice that you don’t get rewarded for being rude or obnoxious. If you live a self-righteous life when you get persecuted, you’re not a martyr; you’re just a jerk. 

You get rewarded for being like Jesus. When you share what you believe, do it with gentleness and respect, just like Jesus, and you will be rewarded for it one day in heaven.

Talk It Over

How have you responded to the testing of your faith? How do you think God feels about your response?
What does persecution look like in your culture?
Why is it important to pray for people who are persecuted?

What is your choice about Jesus?

God proved his love for you through his Son, Jesus Christ. The Bible says, “For God loved the world in this way: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16 CSB).

Are you ready to trust God to fulfill his promise of eternal life? If so, start by praying this simple prayer:

“Dear God, I don’t want my sin to separate me from you any longer. You have promised that if I believe in Jesus, you’ll forgive me for everything I’ve ever done wrong, you’ll show me the purpose of my life, and you’ll accept me into your family and bring me to heaven one day to live with you for eternity.

“Jesus, I confess my sin, and I believe you are my Savior. I trust you when you say salvation comes by grace, through faith, and not by anything I do. I ask you to come into my life as my Lord. Today, I commit my life to you.
“I want to live the way you created me to live and to use the remainder of my life to serve you. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.”

Hay Poder en el Testimonio de Grupo

“Este mandamiento nuevo les doy: que se amen los unos a los otros. Así como yo los he amado, también ustedes deben amarse los unos a los otros. De este modo todos sabrán que son mis discípulos, si se aman los unos a los otros”. Juan 13:34-35 (NVI)

Cada uno de nosotros tiene un mensaje de vida que Dios quiere que compartamos con el mundo. Compartir el mensaje es parte de la misión de nuestra vida. Cuando compartimos ese mensaje con otras personas, se llama dar testimonio.

Hay un gran poder en el testimonio grupal. Al igual que un soldado nunca se envía solo, Dios no tiene la intención de que hagamos nuestra misión solos. Él dice que deberíamos salir juntos a ser testigos.

De hecho, Dios dice que somos mejores testigos para las personas que no conocen a Dios cuando amamos a otros que ya están en la familia de Dios. En Juan 13, Jesús nos dice que nuestro amor mutuo demuestra al mundo que somos sus discípulos. La gente está impresionada cuando los cristianos se aman genuinamente. Le demuestra al mundo que están en la familia de Dios.

En 2 Timoteo 1:7, se nos dice cómo debemos testificar a las personas: “Pues Dios no nos ha dado un espíritu de timidez, sino de poder, de amor y de dominio propio” (NVI).

¿Has sido tímido y temeroso en tu testimonio? La respuesta de Dios al temor es la comunidad: tener a otros cristianos parados a tu lado en el testimonio.

Considera seriamente esta pregunta: ¿Alguien va a estar en el cielo por ti? Si trabajan juntos para ser testigos junto con otros cristianos, podrán decir: “¡Sí! Alguien está en el cielo por mi culpa”.

Filipenses 1:27 dice: “…sabré que siguen firmes en un mismo propósito, luchando unánimes por la fe del evangelio” (NVI).

¿Eres testigo con otros cristianos con un mismo espíritu, cuando estás tan unificado que es casi como si fueras una sola persona? Este es el tipo de relación que Dios quiere que tengamos con nuestros hermanos cristianos. Todos nos necesitamos los unos a los otros. Dios quiere que testifiquemos por él, ¡pero Él quiere que lo hagamos juntos!

Reflexiona sobre esto:

¿Cuáles son tus temores o reservas sobre testificar a las personas?¿Cómo puedes ayudar a tu comunidad de creyentes a superar esos miedos?¿Cómo puedes unirte a otros cristianos y sentirte animado a compartir el Evangelio?Si todavía no has confiado en Jesús y no te has comprometido a seguirlo, ¿por qué esperar más? For Conflict Resolution, Switch Your Focus

“Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too. You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had.”

Philippians 2:4-5 (NLT)

When you approach someone to resolve a conflict, you first have to confess your part of the problem. Then, you need to listen for the other person’s hurt and perspective.

We think we argue over ideas. But we actually argue over emotions. Anytime there is conflict, somebody got their feelings hurt. Somebody felt abused. Somebody felt slighted. It’s not the ideas that cause the conflict. It’s the emotions behind the idea. 

Hurt people hurt people. The more people are hurting, the more they lash out at everybody else. People who aren’t hurting don’t hurt others. People who are filled with love are loving toward others. People who are filled with peace are at peace with everybody else. But people who are hurting inside are going to hurt others. They’re going to lash out.

If you want to be a good salesman, you don’t start with your product. If you want to be a good professor or pastor—if you want to connect with others in any way—then you must start with people’s needs, hurts, and interests.

Philippians 2:4-5 says, “Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too. You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had” (NLT).

Are you often so busy trying to get the people you’re in conflict with to see your position that you’re not listening to their position? You’re too busy speaking and not listening and, as a result, you move further and further away.

You need to shift your focus from your needs to their needs. Conflict resolution starts with the way you look at the situation. The word “look” in Philippians 2:4 is the Greek word scopos. It’s where we get the words “microscope” and “telescope.”

Scopos means to focus. Your attitude should be the same as that of Jesus Christ. And you are most like Jesus when you’re focusing more on the hurts of somebody else than your own hurt.

There’s an old saying that goes like this: “Seek to understand before you seek to be understood.” When you’re focused on the needs of the other person and not your own, you’ll grow in compassion and grace and have a better understanding of the situation. Then you can move forward with resolving your conflict.
