El Plan de Dios Para Tu Dolor

“De manera que los que sufren según la voluntad de Dios, deben seguir haciendo el bien y poner sus almas en manos del Dios que los creó, pues él es fiel”. 1 Pedro 4:19 (DHH)

¿Recuerdas cómo era la fotografía antes que todo fuera digital? Cuando tomabas una fotografía, lo primero que obtenías era un negativo. Después tenías que transformar el negativo a un positivo entrando en un cuarto obscuro y haciendo brillar luz a través del negativo a un papel fotográfico. Esto tornaba el negativo a un positivo, una fotografía a todo color.

Eso es lo que Dios quiere hacer con las injusticias en nuestras vidas. Todos las tenemos. La gente nos ha maltratado. Nos han pasado por alto. Han tomado ventaja de nosotros. Dios quiere que tomemos todos lo negativos, hagamos brillar la luz de Jesús a través de ellos, y se conviertan en positivos —una foto a todo color de la vida para la cual fuimos creados.

La Biblia dice, “De manera que los que sufren según la voluntad de Dios, deben seguir haciendo el bien y poner sus almas en manos del Dios que los creó, pues él es fiel” 1 Pedro 4:19 (DHH). Lo más importante que puedes recordar cuando has sido tratado injustamente es que Jesús está de tu parte. No existe pecado que Dios juzgue más duramente, excepto quizá del orgullo, que aquel que comete injusticia.

Todo a lo largo de la Escritura, Dios muestra especial cuidado de las personas que han sido tratadas injustamente. Él es un Dios de justicia. Él escucha tus lamentos, mira tu dolor, y Él sabe que estás herido. No obtuviste lo que creías merecer. Pero Dios tiene un plan para tu dolor.

Cuando haces brillar la luz del amor de Dios a través de tus circunstancias, Él puede convertir tu dolor en una hermosa fotografía. Dios transforma tu carácter a través de Él. Te hace más fuerte. Lo más importante, Dios usa tu dolor.

Nunca obtendrás una explicación por la mayor parte del dolor que padeces en esta vida. Cuando llegues al cielo, entenderás más sobre porque te sucedieron cosas malas. Pero Dios no te debe una explicación por eso.

Pero aquí hay buenas noticias: No necesitas una explicación. Solo necesitas saber que Dios te ama. Él tiene un plan para ti. Dios se pondrá a cuentas con cualquiera que te lastime.

Dios nunca desperdicia un sufrimiento. Dale la bienvenida a la luz del evangelio en medio de él y Dios usará tu sufrimiento —esa real injusticia que te ha sucedido— para crear una hermosa fotografía a través de tu vida.

Faith Is God’s Word Activated

“Faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.”

Romans 10:17 (NIV)

God promises thousands of times in the Bible that he will act on our behalf if we obey him. When I read those promises, it gives me confidence. I know that if I do what God asks of me, he has promised a certain result.  

For most of the year 1981, I was depressed. The year before, I had moved to Southern California to start Saddleback Church. I was exhausted emotionally, mentally, physically, and spiritually. I felt like I had a cloud over my head that I just couldn’t escape. 

I’ll never forget some of the verses that really activated my faith: “But I will not drive them out in a single year, because the land would become desolate and the wild animals too numerous for you. Little by little I will drive them out before you, until you have increased enough to take possession of the land” (Exodus 23:29-30 NIV).

In Exodus 23:29-30, God essentially says to the Israelites, “You know these enemies? They’re bigger than you. But I’m not going to give you the whole land in the first year. You’re going to take it over a little bit at a time—one battle at a time. You’re growing stronger. And when you’re strong enough to handle it all, you’ll get it all.” 

When I read those verses, it was like a promise coming directly to me. I realized I didn’t have to accomplish it all in the first year. I was going to spend the rest of my life serving Jesus Christ, and I could do it on his timetable and at his pace. 

That understanding gave me confidence to take on enormous goals. The Word activated my faith. God’s Word can activate your faith too.

Most of us aren’t confident or courageous. In fact, we’re often scared to death! We’re afraid to take risks, afraid of failure, and afraid of dying. But people of faith should walk confidently through life. 

Do you want to be a person of faith? Faith is God’s Word activated. The Bible says in Romans 10:17, “Faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ” (NIV).

God’s Word not only tells you what to do. It also gives you the power to do it and increases your faith as you do it.

La Injusticia nos Muestra que Necesitamos a Jesús

“Dios nos pone a prueba, para que nosotros mismos nos demos cuenta de que no somos diferentes de los animales, ni superiores a ellos”. Eclesiastés 3:18 (TLA)

Probablemente escucharás desde muchos lugares diferentes en estos días: las personas son básicamente buenas y desinteresadas. Son sus entornos los que transforman los corazones de las personas hacia el mal.

Desafortunadamente, esa teoría simplemente no cuadra con lo que vemos en la naturaleza humana. Si alguna vez has estado cerca de niños pequeños, obtienes esto. Nacen con una naturaleza egoísta. Frases como, “¡Aliméntame! ¡Cuídame! Soy el centro de atención” son la regla más que la excepción.

La injusticia humana en todo el mundo y en nuestras propias comunidades también destruye cualquier concepto erróneo que tenemos de que todos los humanos somos básicamente buenos. Dejados a nuestros propios recursos, oprimimos a otras personas, acumulamos nuestra comida, y generalmente pensamos en nosotros mismos mucho más que cualquier otra persona. Es como si Dios mirara la humanidad que Él creó y dijera, “Ok, piensas que eres básicamente bueno”.

¿Crees que la naturaleza humana es básicamente desinteresada? Daré un paso atrás y dejaré que la naturaleza humana siga su curso en el mundo. Te mostraremos lo que sucede cuando Dios no está en la imagen”. ¿Quieres saber cómo se ve eso? Solo toma un periódico.

Lo que es verdad en los niños y en la sociedad en general también es cierto en nuestras vidas de hoy. Tú y yo somos tratados injustamente todo el tiempo. Pero este es un secreto que quizás no hayas considerado: Tratas a las personas injustamente de vez en cuando también.

Nuestra tendencia a tratarnos injustamente no sorprende a Dios. De hecho, muestra por qué necesitamos a Jesús.

La Biblia dice: “Dios nos pone a prueba, para que nosotros mismos nos demos cuenta de que no somos diferentes de los animales, ni superiores a ellos” Eclesiastés 3:18 (TLA).

La realidad es que, sin Dios en la situación, las personas son muy inhumanas entre sí. Ese es el corazón de toda la injusticia e injusticia en nuestro mundo, desde los dictadores despóticos hasta la pobreza aplastante y las simples injusticias en nuestros vecindarios.

Un día, Dios juzgará a todas las personas del planeta por las injusticias que cometen contra los demás. Debido a que Dios es justo, debe haber consecuencias por la forma en que tratamos a los demás.

Eso significa que necesitamos misericordia. Todos nosotros hemos sido injustos con otros de vez en cuando. No somos solo las víctimas de la injusticia. Nosotros somos los autores, también.

Esta injusticia nos muestra que necesitamos a Jesús. Dios no habría necesitado enviar a su Hijo a morir en la cruz si las personas en general fueran buenas. Las grandes injusticias en nuestro mundo dejan en claro que los humanos no pueden vivir vidas morales por sí mismos.

La próxima vez que te traten injustamente, que sea un recordatorio: cada persona en este planeta, incluyéndote a ti, necesita a Jesús.

Enough Light for the Next Step

“Understanding your word brings light to the minds of ordinary people.”

Psalm 119:130 (CEV)

Everyone needs light. You need physical light to make sure you can see the world around you, to avoid running into obstacles.

Through his Word, God wants to provide light for your mind too. The Bible says, “Understanding your word brings light to the minds of ordinary people” (Psalm 119:130 CEV).

God wants to give light—his light—to every single person. He wants to light up your mind with the truth of who he is and his next step for your life. 

Biblical meditation is often the key to turning on that light. You have to soak your mind in the light. Biblical meditation isn’t losing your mind to the universe; it’s focusing it on the Word of God. When you do that, you bring light to your life. 

Through his Word, God helps you to see life through a different perspective. Psalm 119:105 says, “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path” (NIV). God’s Word gives you direction in life. It shows you the path God wants you to take. 

When Psalm 119 was written, the “lamp” referred to a candle in a lamp that people carried with them as they walked in the darkness. It was similar to how we might use a flashlight today. If you hold a flashlight and you want the light to shine further down your path, you have to take the next step. 

Many times I’ve been stuck and looking for light from God for my whole path. But I’ve found that God gives us just enough light for the next step. You take that next step, and God gives you light for the step after that. 

One of the best ways to turn on the light of God’s Word is to pray God’s Word, like Psalm 119:18: “Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law” (NIV). 

If you want to see wonderful things from God’s Word, then ask God to open your eyes to what he wants to do through your life.

He’s ready to turn on the light.

Dios dice que Respondas a la Injusticia con Amor

“Ustedes han oído que se dijo: ‘Ama a tu prójimo y odia a tu enemigo’. Pero yo les digo: Amen a sus enemigos y oren por quienes los persiguen”. Mateo 5:43-44 (NVI)

La injusticia es parte de la condición humana. No puedes vivir en esta tierra por mucho tiempo sin sentir que alguien te ha tratado injustamente. Tal vez es un padre que te hizo pasar una infancia miserable. Quizás es un empleador que te trata de manera diferente que a tus compañeros de trabajo. Tal vez sientes que el proceso legal te trató injustamente.

Puedes elegir responder a las personas que te lastiman haciéndoles daño. Esa es la elección más fácil de hacer, no hay duda al respecto.

Pero Dios nos da otra opción en su Palabra: “Ustedes han oído que se dijo: ‘Ama a tu prójimo y odia a tu enemigo’. Pero yo les digo: Amen a sus enemigos y oren por quienes los persiguen” Mateo 5:43-44 (NVI).

Cuando las personas te hacen daño, esperan que tomes represalias. Esperan que busques venganza. Pero Dios quiere que hagas exactamente lo contrario. Él quiere que respondas en amor.

Responde al maltrato con amor y evita que la otra persona te controle. Booker T. Washington dijo una vez: “Nunca permitiré que otro hombre controle mi vida permitiendo hacer que lo odie”. No puedes controlar cuándo otra persona te trata injustamente. Puedes controlar si te amargas en el proceso. Puedes controlar tu respuesta a la injusticia.

Solo porque respondas amorosamente a un delincuente no significa que sigas permitiendo la injusticia. Por el contrario, debemos buscar amorosamente la justicia. Debemos trabajar por la justicia en el mundo sin tomar represalias. La Biblia nos ordena “sean imparciales y justos. ¡Hagan lo correcto!” Jeremías 22:3 (NTV).

Martin Luther King Jr. fue un gran ejemplo de esto. Luchó contra la injusticia sin violencia. Él venció al mal a través del poder del amor. Siguió el ejemplo de Jesús, que eligió perdonar a sus perseguidores incluso cuando lo estaban matando.

Ese es nuestro llamado como seguidores de Jesús. La inequidad y la injusticia pueden ser parte de la condición humana, pero no debemos alimentarnos de ella. En cambio, Dios nos llama a responder en amor.

How to Claim Your Inheritance

“I commit you to God and to the word of his grace, which can build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified.”

Acts 20:32 (NIV)

You have an inheritance coming to you. How do I know that? The Bible promises an inheritance to those who read God’s Word.

The Bible says in Acts 20:32, “I commit you to God and to the word of his grace, which can build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified” (NIV). 

An inheritance is what you get for being part of a family; it’s rightfully yours. 

If your father dies and you never took the time to read his will, you’d be foolish. You wouldn’t get what was rightfully due to you. You wouldn’t benefit from what belongs to you as his child. 

When you become a follower of Jesus, you’re not just a believer—you’re a belonger. You become a part of God’s family. Family privileges come along with that decision. You have a spiritual inheritance!

But if you walked through your entire life and you didn’t know what benefits were available to you as a child of God, that would be sad—and foolish. God wants you to grow and know what’s available to you from him. To do that, you need to read the Bible. 

The Bible says in 2 Timothy 3:16-17: “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work” (NIV).

The purpose of the Bible is to help you live out your purpose that God has for your life; it’s God’s inheritance that’s due to you. God wants you to be thoroughly equipped for what he made you to do. To do that, he does four things through Scripture:

He teaches you. God shows you the path on which you should walk.
He rebukes you. God shows you when you’re off the path.
He corrects you. God shows you how you can get back on the path.
He trains you. God shows you how you can stay on the path.

That’s how God’s Word helps you grow and get that great inheritance he has prepared for you. But you only get it if you open up the Bible and start reading!

Are you ready? Start by praying this simple prayer: “Dear God, I know when I die, I’m going to give an account of my life to you. I know I have sinned against you, and I have lived by my plan, not yours. I want that to change, starting right now. I want to turn away from my sins and toward you.

“Thank you for sending Jesus to die for all that I’ve done wrong so that I don’t have to pay the penalty. I know I don’t deserve your forgiveness. I know only your grace can save me, Lord. I could never be good enough to get into a perfect place.

“Jesus, thank you for loving me so much that you took all my guilt on yourself. You made me acceptable for heaven, and I humbly ask you to save me. I believe in you, Jesus. And I believe you will keep your promise to save me instantly, certainly, completely, and eternally. In your name I pray. Amen.”

Un Nuevo Comienzo después del Pecado Sexual

“Si confesamos nuestros pecados, Dios, que es fiel y justo, nos los perdonará y nos limpiará de toda maldad”. 1 Juan 1:9 (NVI)

Los estándares de Dios nunca cambian. El sexo prematrimonial es inaceptable. Siempre ha sido así. Siempre lo será. Vivir juntos sin casarse es inaceptable para Dios. Siempre ha sido así. Siempre lo será. El adulterio, ser infiel en tu matrimonio, es inaceptable para Dios. Siempre ha sido así. Siempre lo será. La pornografía es inaceptable para Dios. Siempre ha sido así. Siempre lo será.

Pero si has sido culpable de uno de esos pecados, ese no es el final de tu historia. Dios te da la oportunidad de venir limpio y comenzar de nuevo.

¿Cómo haces eso?

Arrepiéntete. Arrepentirse significa “cambiar tu mente”. Dices: “Tenías razón, Dios. Estaba equivocado. Lo que hice fue pecado”. No racionalizas tu pecado ni lo disculpas. La parte más importante es que hagas esto ahora. Si actualmente estás en medio de una aventura, termínala hoy.Recibe perdón. Dios te está esperando para perdonar, limpiar y restaurarte. Él te liberará de la vergüenza, los remordimientos, las heridas ocultas y el dolor que provienen de tu pecado para que no los lleves a tu próxima relación. Dios quiere limpiar la pizarra. La buena noticia es que, una vez que te haya perdonado, puedes perdonarte a ti mismo.Reenfoca y reemplaza. Tú te comprometes a vivir moralmente puro según el estándar de Dios a partir de hoy. Eso significa tener relaciones sexuales solo con la persona con la que estás casado.Solicita ayuda diariamente. Encomienda tu vida a Cristo (si no lo has hecho ya). Pídele que te ayude a manejar tu deseo sexual.

Tu impulso sexual puede destruirte si lo permites. No lo permitas. Tienes una opción.

The Bible Does the Impossible in Your Life

“He chose to give us birth through the word of truth.”

James 1:18 (NIV)

God uses his Word to give you a fresh start in life. But it’s not just any fresh start—it’s a total transformation! He wants to transform your life so that you can become the person he created you to be and live a fulfilling life.

The Bible is unlike any other book. It can make the impossible become reality in your life, because it has supernatural power. It is the Word of God. 

What kinds of things does the Bible do for you? Without God’s Word, you could never be saved. You wouldn’t be headed for heaven. You wouldn’t know about Jesus’ death on the cross. You wouldn’t know about God’s purpose for your life.

Without the Bible, you wouldn’t know God. 

God wants to give you all of these things—and all of this starts with his Word.

Through the Bible, God recreates our lives. When you feel like you’re at the end of your rope, God uses the Bible to give you a fresh start, a do-over. The Bible calls it being “born again.” James 1:18 says, “He chose to give us birth through the word of truth” (NIV).

How does that happen? The Bible is often compared to a seed. Once the Bible takes root in your heart, it begins to sprout, grow, and bear fruit. It produces in you a character more like Jesus and a heart for the things God loves. As you know God’s Word better, God changes your life for the better.

Jesus said this about his Word: “The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit and life” (John 6:63 NIV). God’s Word isn’t just words on a page. It’s spirit and life. It’s spiritual power. His Word can transform society and history. It can do the impossible. It can change your life!

D.L. Moody, a famous 19th century Chicago pastor, said, “The Bible was not given to increase our knowledge; the Bible was given to change our lives.” 

Think about your own life. How do you need your life changed today? What part of your life do you feel powerless to change?

The Bible says the Word of God can change things that you cannot change on your own. Make study of God’s Word a regular part of your life, and get ready for what seems like the impossible to become reality!

La Batalla por la Pureza Sexual Empieza en Tu Mente

“Y sobre todas las cosas, cuida tu mente, porque ella es la fuente de la vida”. Proverbios 4:23 (TLA)

Toda tentación comienza en la mente. Proverbios 4:23 dice: “Y sobre todas las cosas, cuida tu mente, porque ella es la fuente de la vida” (TLA). La batalla por la pureza sexual se gana o se pierde en tu mente.

Cada vez que veas a la gente realmente ensuciar sus vidas, puedes apostar que sus problemas no comenzaron con sus acciones, porque sus acciones comenzaron con sus pensamientos. Se demoraron en pensamientos tontos antes de tomar decisiones tontas. La Biblia dice esto muy claramente, y la ciencia lo respalda: la forma en que piensas determina cómo te sientes. Los sentimientos motivan acciones. Para cambiar tu vida, no solo trabajas en un mal hábito, la acción. En cambio, trabajas en lo que lo causó: los pensamientos que causaron los sentimientos que causaron la acción. Dios dice que tus pensamientos controlan tu vida.

Esto explica cómo suceden los asuntos.

Primero, comienzas aceptando pensamientos pecaminosos en tu mente. “¿Cómo sería tener relaciones sexuales con esa persona? ¿Estás tan equivocado?” Empiezas a tener dudas, y comienzas a fantasear en tu mente. Comienzas a pensar que es inofensivo.

Pero no lo es. Tus pensamientos producen sentimientos. Y los sentimientos conducen inevitablemente a acciones.

Luego pasas a una participación emocional, no física. Entonces es cuando empiezas a coquetear. Empiezas a hacer gestos y comentarios sutilmente o no tan sutilmente diciendo: “Estoy disponible”. Luego viene la participación física. Y finalmente, racionalizas tus acciones: “Todo el mundo lo está haciendo”. No es la gran cosa. “Ambos somos adultos”.

Tus acciones pecaminosas comenzaron cuando aceptaste pensamientos pecaminosos en tu mente.

La Biblia nos dice en 2 Timoteo 2:22 cómo manejar nuestros pensamientos antes de que sigan este camino: “Huye de todo lo que estimule las pasiones juveniles. La Biblia nos dice que nos alejemos de los pensamientos lujuriosos y nos volvamos hacia algo positivo. Ese proceso de dos pasos es cómo se rompe una tentación antes de que comience. Estás pensando mal mucho antes de que actúes mal. Tú detienes el ciclo dándole la espalda a esos pensamientos pecaminosos y volviendo hacia una vida recta, la fidelidad, el amor y la paz.

No eres un espectador inocente del pecado sexual. Tienes una opción.

Reflexiona sobre esto:

¿Cómo has visto los pensamientos pecaminosos, ya sean de naturaleza sexual o no sexual, que conducen a acciones pecaminosas en tu vida?¿Tienes a alguien en tu vida con quién puedas hablar cuando luches con pensamientos lujuriosos? Si es así, confiesa esos pensamientos a Dios y a esa persona.¿Con qué acciones positivas puedes reemplazar tus pensamientos pecaminosos?Si todavía no has confiado en Jesús y no te has comprometido a seguirlo, ¿por qué esperar más? The Bible Is Always Ahead of Science

“Praise him, you highest heaven and the water above the sky. Let them praise the name of the LORD because they were created by his command. He set them in their places forever and ever. He made it a law that no one can break.”

Psalm 148:4-6 (GW)

Someone may have told you that the Bible isn’t scientifically accurate. That person is wrong. They have either never studied the Bible or never studied science. 

God set up the laws of science, and he made sure that his Word doesn’t contradict those laws.

Johannes Kepler, the famous mathematician and astronomer, once said, “Science is simply thinking God’s thoughts after him.” In other words, God established the laws of physics, and then we discover them.

The Bible wasn’t meant to be a scientific textbook. You don’t study the Bible to build a rocket. And the Bible doesn’t use scientific language. But the Bible never gives bad science! In fact, it’s always ahead of science.

For example:

For thousands of years, people believed that the Earth was flat. But God said 2,600 years ago in Isaiah 40:22 that God is enthroned above the sphere of the Earth. For thousands of years, people believed something held the Earth up. Hindus believed huge elephants did it. The Greeks believed Atlas did it. The Egyptians believed five columns held the Earth up. But the Bible never says that anything is holding the planet up.For thousands of years, people believed that the number of stars were finite. But Jeremiah 33:22 says the number of stars can’t be counted.

The Bible says, “Praise him, you highest heaven and the water above the sky. Let them praise the name of the LORD because they were created by his command. He set them in their places forever and ever. He made it a law that no one can break” (Psalm 148:4-6 GW).

The laws of science don’t work one day and then stop working the next. Each and every one of them always works—because they are true and made by God.

And truth doesn’t change.
