Audiobook Review – DRUNKEN FIREWORKS by Stephen King (Narr. Tim Sample)

Stephen King has a new short story out only available in audiobook from Simon and Schuster, narrated by Tim Sample, and it’s called Drunken Fireworks. After having experienced the audiobook of his novel 11/22/63, and finding it one of the best I’ve heard, I was excited to see what King had in mind with this […]

Book Review – CONTACT by Platt and Truant (Alien Invasion, Vol 2)

ContactAfter giving Platt and Truant’sfirst book in the series, Invasion, a rare five star review for its ripping fast plot and engaging characters, Contact, while still good, had some areas that left me a little disappointed. As did the first book, Contact has many surprising twists, but the plot in this one was not as interesting, and the character interaction varied in interest.

I’m conflicted about reading the third book, though, because, while Contact cuts away before sex scenes, there is enoug...

Book Review – INTO THE NANTEN by Jay Swanson

Into the Nanten - The Record of My Exile (Season 1)Into the Nanten – The Record of My Exile by Jay Swanson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I’m not sure which of Into the Nanten’s accomplishments is more impressive, that he produced the epic jungle adventure I had hoped The River would be, or that he kept me engaged enough to read an entire book online. Jay pitches this literary venture as the world’s first real-time fantasy blog, and then went on to exceed my expectations on what that could be. He couples each journal entry with fantastic art, and if...

Scavenger: Evolution, Audiobook by Dave Robison and Sequel News

Scav_Evo1-Cover-Audible (2)Cheers, friends! Who’d like to hear a sample of my upcoming audiobook of Scavenger: Evolution? Dave Robison and Wonderthing Studios are doing a phenomenal job. Like Shawn King did with the cover, Dave’s work has blown me away. You may know him from his role as co-host of the Roundtable Podcast, as well as numerous short fiction productions on shows like Tales to Terrify. He has recently started the company, Wonderthing Studios to begin producing longer works. I’m thrilled to be one of his fir...

Book Review: If Then by Matthew De Abaitua

What if there was an equation to help us understand and ultimately eliminate war? That is one of the central themes of Matthew De Abaituia’s latest novel, If Then (Angry Robot Books). The title itself suggests the principles of certain formulae, such as computer coding (“if this…” “then that…”), although if, like me, you find […]

The Time Traveler’s Almanac – “Pale Roses” by Michael Moorcock

17910155 Welcome to our Thursdayreviews of stories in The Time Traveler’s Almanac , edited by Ann & Jeff Vandermeer. Visit my TTTA main page for all the reviews.

Oct. 15 – Michael Moorcock/ Pale Roses – page 81

I’m afraid this week’s review is going to be a short one. I’m busy, but I also found nothing in this one that merited finishing the story. It’s first knock was the description of the strange shaving pattern around a female’s vagina. I don’t know why I was supposed to care, though I suppose it s...
