SFF Book Releases – October 13, 2015

Dorothy sat up and noticed that the house was not moving; nor was it dark, for the bright sunshine came in at the window, flooding the little room. She sprang from her bed and with Toto at her heels ran and opened the door. The little girl gave a cry of amazement and looked about […]

Audiobook Review – TIME SALVAGER by Wesley Chu (Narr. Kevin T. Collins)

Time SalvagerTime Salvager is the first book in the newest series by John W. Campbell Award winner, Wesley Chu, published by Tor. Whereas Chu made a name for himself with his Tao trilogy, an action-packed alien symbiosis war on Earth soil, Time Salvager matches the action on a future earth where chronmen go back in time to mine materials essential to prolonging the resource supplies of their dying world.

The first chapter does a great job of establishing this fascinating setting, where people can travel b...

Audiobook Review – INVASION by Sean Platt and Johnny B. Truant

Invasion-Optimized-432x648Alien invasion stories seem to be especially popular right now. Ernest Cline just released Armada. Edward W. Robertson is killing it with his Breakers series. James S.A. Corey’s Expanse series is crushing it, and is set to debut the television series on Syfy soon. While the appeal of the fantastic in what may come from meeting an alien race, and possibly more suspenseful, if they are met soon before their wicked intentions of domination are revealed, the most appealing aspect to these stories...

How the Future Got Better by Eric Schaller

The new TV receiver can view five minutes in the future, or can’t it? I’m not clear about what else it does, because if that’s all, then I could have done without this story.

I am forced into speech because men of science have refused to follow my advice without knowing why. It is altogether against my will that I tell my reasons for opposing this contemplated invasion of the SFF Book Releases This Week! Helpful Lessons from First Book Signing – Iowa City Book Festival

I’d like to share a few things I learned from my first book selling and signing event, as well as some advice I offered people I met. If you stopped by our table, thank you so much! I love talking with people about books, especially mine.

First off, E.D. Martin, author of The Lone Wolf, did a fantastic job making our Evolved Publishing table look great. Here’s a shot:

Book Review: Sexbot by Patrick Quinlan

I know what you’re thinking. But despite the title and the cover, this isn’t Kindle porn. For one thing, I have a paperback copy of it. For another, Patrick Quinlan is an established author of thriller novels. That background shines through in Sexbot. Susan Jones and her partner Martin Wacker were robotics engineers who made […]

Audiobook Review: The Undying: Shades by Ethan Reid (Narr. Candace Thaxton)

The Undying: Shades is a strong improvement from book one in an already good option for fans of post-apocalyptic horror. The character-focus engaged more, and strengths in the first book showed maturity and fine tuning. The series still lacks a little in so far as it isn’t among the best post-apocalyptic horror I’ve read, but […]
