UFCA solid, but oddly spread out fight card tonight at...

UFC

A solid, but oddly spread out fight card tonight at #UFCVegas51 that should be popular with diehard fans, as this card has a lot of young talent and interesting debut fights today. The undercard has some of the bigger names competing, so this one will be worth tuning in early.

I think Belal gets the win this time around, and believe he’ll pull out a solid decision win with an upset. I took two other upsets; I like Croom and Leavitt. If I were going with my heart, I’d take Chris Barnett all day, but need to see a little more from him yet. He’s going to kind of always have to overcome the lack of height, but when you can throw acrobatic wheel kicks at heavyweight, you’re never out of it. Hope I’m wrong on that one. I think a lot of fights on this card will go to decisions, as there are some interesting style match ups. I’ll be at @riseofawarriormma’s show in #FortPierce tonight, so won’t get to see all the action as it happens. If you’re there tonight, hit me up. To date, I stand at 92-41 in my year-long experiment calling fights. Not super confident in my picks today, however. (at Fort Pierce, Florida)

36 years ago, we moved unexpectedly from #SturgeonBay to #Waupaca, towards the end of 8th grade. It could’ve been a pretty rough experience, but I was intercepted by a group of fellow scrambled dregs, also stricken with the #ADHD. Fast forward through eras of mullets, tight rolled jeans, cross country moves, marriages, divorces, kids, graduations…you name it, and still laughing like shit we did as juvenile delinquents happened last week. Oh, and still way scrambled. So happy we stopped in #Indy to see this former Comet. Only thing older than our friendship on this trip is the car we’re in. First leg of moving the 84 Jaguar to its forever home in FL. Onto Atlanta today. (at Indianapolis, Indiana)

Laying a teammate to rest this week, so things at @zeroto100fitness are starting to return to normal, or as close to normal as possible, given the circumstances. We’ll be doing the podcast at 4:30, in the hour leading up to the fights today, and will stick around and discuss the prelims on @colorcastapp (KTFO). A seriously loaded #UFC273 with several heavy underdogs expected to be #KTFO’d, so what better way to preview the card than under the KTFO banner.

I love a good upset, but don’t think we’ll be seeing any of the major ones. I think Volk cruises, but would love to see an upset. If I were gonna gamble by gambling, I’d pick the upset by KO. #Yan finishes #Sterling by the third. I think #Chmiev wins easily. It’s easier to learn offensive #MMA #wrestling than it is the other way around. To beat Chmiev, you gotta shut his wrestling down…and then hope he doesn’t starch you with fists. He might be the best #P4P, key word might. I think we learn a ton about him tomorrow. Burns is a beast, so an easy win is highly impressive. I think Gall lacks the wrestling to win a decision and don’t think his jitz is substantially better. He dangerously dives to both knees on doubles, and think he’ll pay for that this fight. Well rounded fighters give him problems, and Malott fits that mold.

I took three upsets; Torres, Vanderaa, and Madsen. Madsen’s going to have his hands full with Pichel, but to stop takedowns from an #Olympian from any country is a tough challenge, especially one who’s undefeated. I almost picked Dern over Torres, but looking at Tecia’s track record, it’s taken elite to beat her and don’t think Dern’s at that level yet. I stand at 88-34 for 2022. (at Cold Spring Park)

Still reeling after losing one of our guys this week in a...

Still reeling after losing one of our guys this week in a senseless act of #violence, so no #podcast this week. #KTFO on @colorcastapp will be back next week, but wanted to get picks out for #UFCColumbus. Went 10-2 last week, now 75-35 for picks in 2022. I will miss tonight’s @UFC action, as I’ll be coaching a couple of @zeroto100fitness guys at a #kickboxing event in #Madison. While it’s a #FightNight, it’s a solid card with some interesting matchups. I think style wins out over talent in several of these.

I like Blades in the #MainEvent, as #wrestling tends to thrive against #karate as a base discipline. I think Blades’s #takedown acumen gets easier with kicks thrown at him. I took 4 upsets. I like Kara-France over Ashkarov in a fight that has title shot implications. I think Kara-France is too big to be taken down and controlled easy and has dangerous striking. I like Saldana, Nicolau, and Diaries. The most lopsided fight on the card is just too crazy to take, as I can’t really figure out how Tiuliulin even got signed. He’s coming off a loss prior to signing with the #UFC.

Other thoughts…
Not sure why Magny is on the prelims, but he shouldn’t be…really want to see Gutierrez, McMann Wood pull off wins, but fear they are up against a really talented prospects. McMann hasn’t really evolved from her wrestling days, making this a tough matchup against a woman that can strike and grapple. (at Cold Spring Park)

A ton of alleged blowouts coming today at #ufclondon, leaving me to pick only two upsets. I like Aspinall in the #MainEvent and think Craig pulls an upset. Not much reason to stray from the #Vegas oddsmakers on the rest. I stand at 65-33 with predictions for 2022. Excited to see @meatballmolly put on a show in her home country. Time for #UFCVegas50 picks and this week’s episode of #KTFO, featuring @ufc flyweight @odeosbourne, the #JamaicanSensation. I have upsets coming in several fights today. I took Nchukwi, Aldrich, although I hope #PSL’s Gillian Robertson proves me wrong. Also took #underdogs @twrecks155, Caceras, and Rountree. The rest I went with #Vegas, including #MainEvent. I’ve learned not to bet against #Amish looking #Russians, and #Ankalaev looks like he should be holding up traffic in suburban Philly with his trusty horse and buggy.
