The best weekends always seem to be a blur. Celebrated the male offspring’s 21st before he headed out to his 1st long-term base, grappled a Toadie, fried eardrums and kept questionable hours. Went by quick, couldn’t have fit much more in…including the trip home. Only one full blown fight in security line so far, but some involved made their way on the plane. This flight home might replace the absence of a #UFC card this weekend. (at Chicago O'Hare International Airport)

He’s also authored of a great martial arts book, Even if it Kills Me. Heading over to @theraveusa tonight to see them play their landmark 90’s debut album #Rubberneck. If you want to feel just a tad bit older today, the male offspring turned 21 at midnight. Happy 21st @zandertomes! Confession: last night wasn’t his first beer. Gasp. Been a joy to be your dad, teacher, coach, and fan. Once the rest of you are done feeling old, we’ll be toting the newly minted legal drinker out in Milwaukee on Friday night, if you’d like to noogie him and aid in any corruption we wage on him before he heads to Wright-Patterson AFB on Saturday. With all the drama at #UFC279, it’s easy to lost sight of the fact that there’s a slew of potentially competitive fights on tap tonight. Ironically, one could argue the card improved with the changes, although the bottom line is a bad look for the biggest league in combat sports.

The #MainEvent is a tough one to call, even for oddsmakers, who have this set to be close. I think both guys lack the ability to finish the other, but worry #NateDiaz didn’t prepare, if he is to be believed. Ferguson wouldn’t ever do that, but also haven’t seen him be competitive for quite awhile. Diaz by decision. The decision by #KevinHolland’s team to take the #Chimiev fight is suspect. He’s got a history of short notice fights against #wrestlers with poor results.

I took a few upsets with Anheliger, Barnett, Chaisson, Jingliang, and Diaz. Barnett is me blatantly going with heart instead of smarts, but think he can get it done. If I were placing bets, I’d take Holland, as Chmiev has seemed completely unfocused all week. Tonight will be a very telling night for him. There are rumblings the #UFC was already worried about him before this week, and he’s most certainly on their radar right now. After two straight weeks of 6-6, I stand at 217-128 for the year.
