Typewriter Series #3047 by Tyler Knott GregsonAs old as...

Typewriter Series #3047 by Tyler Knott Gregson

As old as light,
this, beginning made and
lasting.  Some shine takes
eternities to reach us,
our eyes stay pinpricks
until one day
we’re all pupil and awe
and silent maybe
for the first time.

As old as light,
started where it all did,
first moment of noiseless
implosion,

did you know light
ripples across
like water,
did you know it
hits us in
waves?

As old
as light.

For so long I wondered if happiness would find me, if it would...

For so long I wondered if happiness would find me, if it would meet me in the middle and say hello. I wondered if some are destined for sorrow, for a life of waiting, of lonely nights and cold mornings. I waited, I refused to settle or let those that mattered to me do the same. I waited and hurt and felt terrified of a lifetime alone. Then came light, some shine through the mist of all that darkness. Thank goodness for the courage to wait.

.

Wasn’t I lonely?

Wasn’t I sorrow and gloom?

Wasn’t I longing?

Typewriter Series #3046 by Tyler Knott GregsonGot a helium...

Typewriter Series #3046 by Tyler Knott Gregson

Got a helium heart, she does,
ties itself to the wrists of us,
lifts us, she does,
laughs at the idea of gravity
as we marvel down
from such heights.

Got a colander heart, she does,
rains down love like it’s
full of holes, pours out when
it’s finally full, paints red
anyone lucky enough
to come near.

Got a bonfire heart, she does,
lights up and burns hot,
passion like gasoline
through the veins,
spreads sparks like stars
as we float through
with awe in our eyes.

Aloft and soaking,
warmth wrapped like a
promise, I search the
empty spaces for the
right words to speak
of this love.

I don’t know why this year is such a disaster, I don’t know why...

I don’t know why this year is such a disaster, I don’t know why I feel so tired so often. I don’t know when days will feel new again. I don’t know why I am losing followers on this silly app, why it matters for book sales or feeding a family. I don’t know why so many things keep happening in 2020 that make you cringe and ache and cry. I don’t know why. I just know I’ve got you and you’ve got me and when you fall apart I will put you back together and when I come undone, you’re there.

.

Point me at her arms

and I will declare them home.

I have come undone.

For months, I feel like I have done nothing but watch the time pass, watch the day turn into another...

For months, I feel like I have done nothing but watch the time pass, watch the day turn into another that looks precisely like the one before it. Still I’ll seek. Still I’ll hope.

Morning and soft light,

wind still slow and wandering.

I will rise and search.
