Sometimes it takes an outside source to remind you of an inside...

Sometimes it takes an outside source to remind you of an inside truth. Sometimes it’s a person, sometimes it’s a movie or show (If you aren’t watching Ted Lasso, do so, now), and sometimes it’s a little ball of perfect happiness and fluff like Gilly. Choose your joy. Choose your fate.
.
Joy, you remind me,
is more a choice than blessing.
We decide our fate.

Been thinkin of life, of how so many are so afraid to live it, but stay terrified of death. So many go through the motions of an existence but never truly dive into the depths of our condition. There is beauty in sorrow, in our joy, in our success and triumphant failures. Be not afraid to live.
.
So afraid of death,
but petrified of living.
We must risk it all.

Been thinking about social media, about technology and how it’s making us all chase after one another, seek what others have sought, and fear missing out on what others have. What becomes of us when we’re all the same thing? Who do we turn into?
Typewriter Series #3057 by Tyler Knott Gregson
What of individuality,
what of being
unique?
We’re all turning into
the same person,
melting into one thing
dressed the same,
reaching
for a life we’ve never
thought to want.
We follow many
and search for ways
to become them,
we fear missing
what they
have
and end up missing
what we already
do.
What of what sets us
apart? What of
standing out,
what of the courage
to be only
what we
are?

I am all for stillness, for a break from the hum of a wandering life, but my god it’s been too long. I am aching in every way for the road.
.
Tears for all I’ve seen
and hope I will see again.
I’m sick of stillness.

A year and a day after we first got married, first performed our handfasting ceremony on Skye, we renewed it, tied our hands together, repeated our vows, bled as one. We held torches into the night sky, just like our wedding, and let burn any ache that may have come. A year and a day from yesterday, we will do it again, and on and on. Promising each year, choosing each year, to be bound as one thing. I will keep choosing you, m’dear. Tha mi mionnaichte dhùt.
Tied my hand to yours,
shared blood, hope, and promises.
I am bound to you.
