To the roads we have traveled, the ones that await. To the long trips, to the adventure, to the mountains, to the sea. I have much to see, and I absolutely cannot wait to do so.

Typewriter Series #2836 by Tyler Knott GregsonHappy New Year...

Typewriter Series #2836 by Tyler Knott Gregson
Happy New Year everyone! I hope this year, nay, this decade, is your finest yet. I love you all.

Memories like minutes
and our stories become
years.
Decade like a chapter,
those words
are old words, and we
must begin again.
Now, we write our own
truths, spill out
tales of ourselves,
united and bound as
one thing, one story
that will turn heads
and open mouths
in awe.
One story, we will tell,
your words become mine,
mine into yours,
the sound of pages turning
like the thumping
of a pulse,
like billions of hearts
with only
one beat.

2020. May you bring peace, stillness, and love. May you bring comfort to those that need it, quiet to those in noise. May you hold those who feel alone, remind them they are not. Bring change, great big shufflings at the top of things in this country, little tiny ones that wake us up and implore us all to do better. May you plant seeds and burn less forests, may your ice stop melting and your seas stop rising. May you show us love in all its forms and let everyone who sees it love it, too. May you be kind, may you be gentle but test our strength from time to time. May you be full, and real, and may you heal.

Edge of a knife, a blade thin as atoms
we tiptoe on the tightrope, and stare at the dawn
we’re facing.
These are the final hours we will be these people,
this is the last day before we begin again.
Set down the weight, love, teach your lips the shape
of goodbye, and offer it gently to those
who mistreat your heart,
joy has never been a shameful thing.
Hour hand ticking towards vertical,
seconds fall like sandbags, let your
balloon rise, let yourself taste cloud
and rainfall from its source, remember, love,
it’s only up that will bring you through
the storm.
Here, my lips at midnight,
silencing the shake you have carried,
whispering into yours that all things will
be alright. Feel them speak of triumph
that of all people, scattered across the
sea of this place, I found you, and you, me,
feel them remind you what you’ve always known,
that above all things,
our joy, has never been a shameful thing.
