Goodreads Giveaway - Tarot Card Killer

I'll be doing a giveaway all month for my murder-mystery novel, Tarot Card Killer.

Enter for your chance to win 1 of 10 books:

https://www.goodreads.com/giveaway/sh...

So what's this novel about?

It's set in Hong Kong in 1973 and follows a down-and-out police inspector named Jim Sharpe as he tries to solve a series of grisly murders.

There's a serial killer on the loose, and they're leaving Tarot cards on the dead bodies.

What does it mean? And will police corruption hamper Inspector Sharpe's chances of catching the killer, and staying alive himself?

Ready for Summer

I’m ready for summer, and for me that means writing quite a few novels. I don’t plan on doing a whole lot of nonfiction books (besides my monthly ESL series), and I have a lot of half-starts on the back burner.

What are some of those?

Well, I have a mountain man novel about John Colter exploring Yellowstone in 1806-8 that I want to get done.

I’ve got a short (15,000 words) prequel novelette I want to do for my Warring States series, one I want to put at perma-free to get readers for the series.

And then there’s still Tarot Card Killer 2, which I should really do now that the first book is available in paperback.

Well, lots of stuff, I better get to it.

Sorry Goodreads

I don't do much on Goodreads these days.

Lots of other people aren't active in discussions (they say it's Spring) so there's not much to comment on.

My daily email from Goodreads is rather short these days.

Oh well.

Tracy Hickman's Problems

I love the first 3 Dragonlance novels.

I think I bought each of them twice, and I really should buy them again.

And that's why I just can't understand the problem Tracy Hickman is having.

See, he says his books are making him no money.

I find this hard to believe.

Perhaps you'll be the judge after you read this post.

Under the Weather

Starting on Wednesday I got sick.

This was one of those flu-like things where you get cold and just can't eat anything.

Over 2 days I think I probably had 500 calories, probably less.

My writing took a blow too, naturally. My word counts really dropped and I sat around more watching movies.

I feel better now, and I'll have to get back into the swing of things.

Facebook Criminal Case

Do you ever play Facebook's Criminal Case?

https://apps.facebook.com/criminalcase/

This is a great game that really wastes a lot of time.

When you're a writer a game like this is really the bane of your existence.

And yet we can't stay away.

An old friend from my hometown recommended this game to me a couple days ago. I'd gotten ahold of him after not hearing hide nor hair from him in about 14 years.

Anyway, now I'm hooked on this game. I bet I could have written a few thousand extra words today if it weren't for this game.

Or is the game to blame?

Maybe you should try it and find out.

Ale Quest Coming Soon

I'm working on a new book, really a novelette.

What's that? Well, a novelette is about 20,000 words or so.

This book is called Ale Quest.

It's about a knight tasked with heading out from an army siege camp to get ale.

See, men laying waste to a castle need a hearty drink. Well, Sir Peter is the man for that job, and he takes it on.

What ensues are barrels of ale, laughs, and trouble.

I hope you'll put Ale Quest on your list of to-read books!

Primary

Today was the last day in Montana for people to file for office. There are now 5 people running for the seat in my district, myself included.

2 republicans filed on the last day and another democrat filed on Friday.

Really, it's me and the other guy. He's beating me on the door-to-door right now.

It's going to be close, and less than 60 days before the absentee ballots go out in the mail.

Tour Finished

I did a blog tour this week for Tarot Card Killer.

So how many books did I sell? Zero.

Yeah, not a single book. I did sell 2 Tarot non-fiction books, so that's something.

Not the best experience there.

Oh well. Maybe someone will buy the books later on.

I've been kind of dragging when it comes to writing this week as well. It doesn't help that I'm knocking on doors in the evenings.

Yeah, I'm trying to get elected to the Montana House of Representatives right now.

Well, enough of this nonsense tonight.

Hey, maybe one day 5 years from now someone will actually read this!
