Your Books
It’s always interesting seeing what you’re reading.
Just today I did a long scroll through my feed and saw lots of old faces. I say old meaning 2013 or so, which is when I joined Goodreads.
Jeez, 3 years already?
I can tell that some friends came from the history group, others from the Stephen King group. Some hail from fantasy, others have snuck in from Noir.
I don’t go to groups anymore much myself. I kind of got out of that more than a year ago, actually.
I don’t miss it much, but I do enjoy my yearly challenge, keeping up on the books you like, and writing the occasional review.
So keep active on Goodreads - I’m happy you do!

Feeling Lucky
Well, I’ve been reading a lot more Louis L’Amour novels lately.
The reason for that is simple - my own western novels are selling so well.
More than 500 of the Colter books have sold this month. There are six of ‘em and that’s it, the series is done.
Well...that leg of the series is done.
The Mountain Man Series will continue. In fact, I’m nearly finished with the seventh book right now. I plan to get it out sometime in April.
So thanks for reading...though I suspect none of you are.
Yeah, the books have no following whatsoever on Goodreads. Oh well - doesn’t bother me a bit.
Mainly, I'm just incredibly thankful that people are buying these books and reading them.
So thanks for that. Here's the series - give it a look:

Spring Publishing Schedule
I'm writing and writing like usual and that means I have results.
Here's how I'll present 'em:
- March 8: Paranormal Montana
- April 11: Colter's Escape
- May 24: Montana History Book 6
I'll have one more book coming out in March or April about voting and Montana government.
Yeah, that one's sure to be a helluva seller, I know.
Besides that, things are looking good. I'm selling more books than ever and happily producing more.
Thanks for reading.

Non-Books
I've read two non-books this year.
By that I mean books that Goodreads doesn't recognize.
You type the book in but there is no book. I guess I could add it, but gosh, I'm lazy.
For the most part, these have been obscure Montana history and stat books.
Things that focus on the forestry industry in the 1970s and such.
So I just thought I'd mention that in case you wonder why I haven't been reading much.
I have, just the non-books.

2016 Reading Challenge
Are you getting a lot of notifications in your inbox that people like your 2016 reading challenge?
I've gotten about 20 so far, and I'm happy for it.
I just went through and liked all the challenges of my Goodreads friends.
So far that's about 80 to 100 challenges.
This is what stands out to me:
- Many people are going for 80 to 100 books. Quite a few are aiming for 200.
- Lots of people already have 1 book finished.
- People that have a few books already tend toward graphic novels or shorter works.
- I was happy to see several names/faces that I recognize on other social channels.
- Not that many people are going for low numbers. I don't think I saw a single challenge that was under 20 books.
So those are things I've noticed.
I've chosen to go for 60 books this year.
Last year I went for 25 but bumped that up to 50 about halfway through the year.
I've been reading more. I figure my son getting to be 4-years old helps with that. I have a bit more time as he occupies himself.
Well, that's enough of my blathering.
I hope you have a good challenge in 2016 and read some cool books.
Have fun!

Last 2 Weeks
We've got about 2 weeks left to get all our books for 2015 read.
I'm almost at 50 or so. In other words, I should probably pick up the pace.
Maybe reading a bit more each night is an idea. I should also focus on those half-starts and almost-dones.
If I do that I can bump my books read up for the year.
So I'm thinking about this.
How about you? Did you get enough read this year or did other things happen?

New Series
I went ahead and put all 4 of the Colter books into a series today.
It's called the Mountain Man series and you can see it here:
https://www.goodreads.com/series/1692...
The fourth book comes out tomorrow and it's a good one.
If you like westerns, thrillers, or historical fiction then this is up your alley.

Library Run
I ran up to the library just before 5 tonight.
It was already dark, but the roads weren't icy as we've had a warm-up.
Mainly I had to drop off 2 books that were due tomorrow. I also took up a couple that I'd pretty much gotten all I needed from.
Besides that I remembered to bring up my old magazine pile, which I plunked down on the magazine box-table display at the lower entrance.
I left with 100, 300-500, and 800 Dewey Decimal System bookmarks.
That's why I know the 370 section is Education and the 540 section is Chemistry and 810 is American Lit.
Fun times, now I'm home.

Thanksgiving Roads
Looks like the roads will be snowy here in Montana for Thanksgiving.
We'll be driving 114 miles to the east, to the capital of the state, Helena.
I might head out to Three Forks when I'm there.
That's the setting for my latest mountain man novel, Colter's Friend.
It's where the Jefferson, Madison, and Gallatin come together to form the Missouri River.
Anyways, should be some cold weather. That's the conditions those men lived in when they had a fort made of wood with just some fires to stay warm.
On top of it they had hostile Indians around. Interesting stuff, and you can read all about it in my mountain man series.
