The best TJLC blogs are those people who encourage analysis and multiple different readings of our source material. The best blogs don’t bully other bloggers by telling them their ideas are moronic. The best TJLC blogs encourage polite debate in order to learn more about the show. The best TJLC blogs do this because they know there are hundreds of people out there with ideas of their own but are too afraid of being criticized by the community that already exists to tell anyone about them.

YES. I adore the exploration of ideas in the TJLC community, but it’s always a turn off when someone is so adamant about their belief in something (but the third book on the shelf was BLUE and so were John’s socks and that HAS to mean…) that they get pissy at anyone who doesn’t immediately and completely agree.

I love reading the meta and sometimes I agree and sometimes I don’t. But it’s always fun to hear ideas because I can’t seem to let go of the damn show. But I’m looking forward to getting another chunk (or even the last chunk) of actual canon.

Still. I really honestly believe that, somewhere in the flow of things that have passed my dash, 80% of the plot of S4 will not be a surprise to me. And I’m looking forward to the 20% no one has guessed!

EMP Theory, or The Extended Mind Palace Theory

So @monikakrasnorada, @the-7-percent-solution and me toyed with this little idea which somehow exploded to a crazy HLV/TAB theory ( http://gosherlocked.tumblr.com/post/137612764721/monikakrasnorada-gosherlocked).

And I have found something else. There has been some discussion about Mary’s odd gesture, interlacing her fingers while twisting her arms. Please correct me but I think the first time we see it is here:

HLV, Sherlock drugged to his eyeballs, going into his mind palace after Janine’s visit. This is how Sherlock he sees her at this very moment, the object of his deductions, the woman who recently shot him. This is Mind Palace Mary. 

In TAB there is this:

Again, MP! Mary. Not real. Just in his head. And look at her hands. 

But there is another instance when we see her just like this, in front of the 221B fireplace, next to Sherlock’s chair, in a scene which for many fans is still hard to accept. Sherlock’s behaviour regarding Mary seems completely wrong. And some have commented on the way John seems to blame Sherlock as much as he does blame. Which reminds me of how John is shown in some TAB scenes. Or think of TEH’s sarcastic Mind John who keeps nagging Sherlock. 

We know that scene 1 and 2 are images of Sherlock’s mind. So I would like to argue that scene 3 might be in his mind as well. Thoughts?

And here is another extra, a list of all the OOC things and logical gaps in HLV that might be explained by one and a half episodes taking place in Sherlock’s mind:

Sherlock becoming a murderer (completely non-Canon compliant)

the whole surgery business
Mary’s whole professional career on a flashdrive
the missing months between the shooting and Christmas
Mycroft never reacting to Sherlock being shot
the potatoes on the super secret laptop
Billy Wiggins drugging the Christmas punch chez Holmes
Magnussen having a mind palace so similar to Sherlock’s
the bizarre rendezvous between Sherlock and Magnussen at the restaurant/hospital cafeteria
Sherlock smuggling a gun into Appledore without being searched
half the British government knowing about The Other One

and I could go on and on and on. What do you think, @monikakrasnorada and @the-7-percent-solution and all others here?

Very much relevant in light of everything we’re seeing in promos. It’s hard to believe we’ve been in EMP hell for nearly a year, @gosherlocked.

I’m so ready for this, guys.

Some of the differences I noticed 

1. The knife on the mantel piece has moved to the right (towards Mrs. Hudson’s left side) We could say that it was done for the picture and that alone. She would have been blocking it but nothing else seems to have been moved. Like Billy the skull. Mary is covering that completely. She has replaced him, so to speak. She is death now. What could the knife mean? If they moved it purposefully it’s because they wanted it to be in the shot for a reason.

2. Their chairs have been brought in closer together. YES!! Sherlock’s chair is facing the camera more, facing us. But John’s remains the same. His legs are facing Sherlock. You could say he is facing what he’s attracted to, what is interesting to him. His position reflects his future. This is backed up by the fact that we cannot see that ham the baby’s face. The baby doesn’t matter here.

3. On the bottom left corner behind John’s chair where there seems to be a tv, there is a couple of things missing. Or it could be a completely different stand/center. Could it be the water that’s covering some of it in the bottom picture?

And one more thing that caught my eye just now:
They’re both wearing the same clothes. So this is obviously from the same photo shoot but if they kept their clothes it’s because they’re inferring its the same day/ep. In the first shot, they’re sitting there with all these other people in 221b, even the ham. Then when it gets tough (water rushing in) they’re all gone except John and Sherlock.

Great observations! I’ll add a bit:

Mycroft is there but his umbrella isn’t (or at least, it’s not visible), then in the next shot his umbrella is left where he’s standing. That, combined with the way he’s looking at Sherlock, makes me think of the “look after him” scene with John. (The “when I’m gone” being unsaid.)

Molly is the only one turning away. Ack. Position/body language analysis isn’t my thing but I’d guess she has a secret/is hiding something…

Dressing gown, no dressing gown. As @consulting-goldfish put it, “the coat is Sherlock’s protection, his shell from emotions and the outside world.
his dressing gown isn’t something you’d go outside with, it’s thin fabric, it’s his private life. It’s vulnerability…”

And since someone pointed out that first pic screams Cluedo, which means “one of these people is a killer and another is the victim”…

Remember the “bolt-hole” discussion in His Last Vow? I have a feeling it’s going to come up again. So Sherlock fled hospital to set up the meeting with Mary. Meanwhile, Lestrade and John discover this and begin wondering where Sherlock has gone. Lestrade tells us that Sherlock has three known bolt-holes…Parliament Hill, Camden Lock and Dagmar Court. Mycroft adds two more to the list…The blind greenhouse in Kew Gardens and the leaning tomb in Hampstead Cemetery. 

Molly gives us the sixth bolt-hole, her bedroom (because he needs the space), then John goes to Mrs Hudson and gets the seventh…
