Mark Gatiss retweeted this on April 2nd, and I’ve not seen anyone talking about it (though I’ve not been around much the last few days), so I thought I’d share. Mirroring his thoughts on baby Watson perhaps? A baby? Pure tripe!
Tripe:noun
1.the first and second divisions of the stomach of a ruminant, especially oxen, sheep, or goats, used as food.Compare honeycomb tripe, plain tripe.
2.Slang. something, especially speech or writing, that is false or worthless; rubbish.
Interesting. Mark is such a riddler.

I love BBC Mycroft! Such an amazing character, I'm glad they wrote him that way. He's so powerful and smart and at the same time he loves Sherlock so much and wants him to be happy and safe, but tries to be sneaky about it. And Sherlock loves him back, the

Johnlock is Going to be Canon in S4 and Here’s Why:
So for a while now I’ve been seeing a lot of posts going around about why the Johnlock Confirmation and/or Kiss isn’t going to happen till Season 5. That the casuals would be too shocked and unprepared for a kiss in Season 4 or that John and Sherlock need to work out all their misunderstandings and build a healthy relationship together before finally kissing, and this… please understand, I’m not angry at anyone for believing this. Trust me, I know. I understand the instinct to be cautious or afraid. We so rarely get anything good in media that it feels like in order to get something as precious and simple as a kiss we need to endure a couple more years of angst while we wait for the casuals to catch up.
But let’s be honest: if any casual by now hasn’t caught onto the subtext of this show, literally nothing less than a full mouth-on-mouth kiss is going to get it into their heads that Sherlock and John are a couple. In terms of the narrative, leaving the kiss to the very end just doesn’t work well. To have a Garridebs finale moment but without any Johnlock Confirmation would make s4 a literal repeat of s3. Think about it: having a main character shot or dangerously injured in the last episode while also revealing a new villain and possibly killing them off at the end? See what I mean? Without the addition of a new milestone and drastic shift in their relationship, it runs the risk of being a repeat. And frankly I don’t think this show can support two more seasons of even more romantic misunderstanding between the two boys. Telling the audience explicitly that this is the main couple and their happy relationship is the end goal of the show will make s5 even angstier because then the two are now committed to each other not just as friends but as lovers. Instead of pushing themselves away because they think they aren’t loved, they KNOW they are and will spend s5 working on that relationship while fighting outside forces.
And it isn’t just for the audience’s benefit; Sherlock and John need that confirmation early on as well. Sherlock didn’t even realise he was John’s best friend until he told him so!!! Do you really think these two emotionally-constipated idiots could work out all their problems together now, in stark contrast to all of the fumbling about they do in previous episodes? Without that very blatant confirmation and kiss, the two won’t be able to work out their issues together because they’ll still be thinking that the other doesn’t want them. Based on the past seasons, they’re messy and repressed without explicitly-stated feelings.
By the end of TAB, Sherlock is ready to finally confess to John.
In TEH we see Sherlock fumbling about with his second attempt at asking John out (1st was in TBB which John rejected). He is rejected the second time on grounds of coming off as a careless asshole (which, to be fair, he does). But now Sherlock has finally matured to the point where he can be courageous enough to really confess his love. He’s excited! Look at his face at the waterfall! He is grinning because he knows what he’s planning to do!!! (And I think John is a lot closer emotionally to their kiss than we are shown, just as he knows more than he lets on about Mary.)So whenever I see people going “they’ll kiss at the end of s5 and roll credits” I feel sad because I know why people are hesitant but also I want to say… it’s okay this time to get excited. It’s okay to get your hopes up! Mofftiss has taken their time to tell a much more complicated and realistic romance, so having a happily-ever-after kiss right at the end won’t work. Maybe for straight romances that can work because the audience and society at large was already expecting it from the first time the characters speak to each other, but that isn’t very realistic. John and Sherlock need to be shown having conflict after the kiss, that a kiss doesn’t solve all their problems, they still have a long way to go and that’s good, that shows a lot of character growth.
But my biggest issue with this is… Frankly, it would be incredibly mean-spirited and offensive if Mofftiss suddenly threw up their hands and said, sorry, you have to wait another year or two because some homophobes couldn’t handle Johnlock right now. If BBC and Mofftiss were actually concerned more about the larger casual audience than the more dedicated minority, they wouldn’t have made TAB, which has been notoriously difficult for the casual audience to understand. That episode really was made specifically for us. That was them pushing the envelope to see just how blatant they could make the subtext before coming out about it. If people don’t see it by now, Mofftiss can say that they told them but they didn’t listen. There is no more “more blatant” subtext to show. John and Sherlock have told each other “I love you”. They’ve hugged. Longing gazes, suspicious positions, everything. It can’t get more obvious. “Softly, softly” was a good game but that has finally ended. TAB wasn’t “softly, softly”… it was more like hitting the casual audience with a sledgehammer. They’re done playing that game and that’s good!
I know some people think Moffat and Gatiss are these mean trickster gods who delight in the suffering of the masses, but they are real human beings nerds and they’ve never actually mocked Johnlockers… not like this. Not by devoting an entire episode just to prove how gay Sherlock is and then have all subsequent media via the BBC and cast and crew, especially setlock, be a lot of inside *wink wink* jokes meant solely for us. They heard us. They know we understand them, so to do all of this and get our hopes up and then back off like “ha ha tricked you, better luck next time” would be incredibly insulting. We can at least be guaranteed that Gatiss is devoted to the show specifically because he realises the cultural impact that will result because of Johnlock. He knows what it’s like to have gay fictional heroes to look up to versus not having any good representation, there’s no way he would hold off on Johnlock just because casuals would be shocked. Casuals would be just as shocked if it happened in s5 as in s4. Yes s4 is going to be angsty and painful, but not because we’re being deprived of gay representation. Moffat and Gatiss really are bursting at the seams with excitement to finally be able to spend endless hours talking openly about their gay and bisexual sons and how they have always been in love.
It’s okay to get excited this time. Johnlock is going to become the first canon onscreen kiss in history by next year and its going to have a huge impact on the world for many years to come. This is big guys. A true revolution. And we get to be a part of it!
Tagging under the cut because I feel like this is very relevant message that the fandom needs to hear and plus I want to share in my screaming:
