Another sublime photo

My Italian blogging friend Patrizia posts very often photos to gasp at. I’m not sure, then, why this one is so special to me … but I think it might the the marriage of the image and its caption – I love to dream … and who better than the moon to keep me company when I dream ?!Filed under: beauty, Italy, photos Tagged: patriziaphoto

A grand evening out !

There are some bad times about being a published author whose book is never going to be a runaway best-seller … and then again there are the good times. One of these I experienced last night (Tuesday: it’s 10:30am Wednesday, Downunder); and I want to share it with you. Btw, in Strine language, one of the ways of indicating the use of the second person plural as opposed to the ditto singular is to render the word ‘you’ into plural ! Thus – youse. [grin] This originated with newly-arrived Austr...

How to whitewash

UNACCOUNTABLE GOVERNMENT After the Manus Island riots, Scott Morrison announced an independent review. He used this, at the time, as a justification for not providing any detailed information to the public about the riots. We would need to wait until the review was completed before he or his department divulged anything, regardless of how much they clearly knew. It is now evident that the independent review itself won’t be made public. Scott Morrison misled again. Australians may not see the...

Share Your World – 2014 Week 10

This is to get CD off my back. Not that she intended be on it, mind; but what with Cee on the one hand and Chris on the other pushing this challenge, I decided I’d best just go along … Describe yourself in a word that starts with the first letter of your name. If 100 people your age were chosen at random, how many do you think you’d find leading a more satisfying life than yours? If you were a tree, would you become a book or furniture? Please describe. You are trapped in More…

Your reminder: LIOLI # 2

This is me knocking you on the skull à la Biff in Back to the Future – remember how he did that all the time to George McFly?:-) But I’m not being rude about it, and it’s more tapping than knocking. I’m certainly not saying “Hello, hello – anybody home?”! Just reminding some people about the LIOLI # 2 comp. that has another week to run – click on icon —> to be reminded. We have entries so far from [deep breath]: IRIS, MAGGIE, STEVE, CEE, TRINA59, ANN CHRISTINE, DEIRDRE, JANET, KATARINA and JA...

One Cool Site: thanks for the heads-up!

http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/20... Anyone who’s posted to any of the Support Forums – that is, any of the one’s I’ve posted to – will have come across TimeThief. Whilst not a paid-up member of the Automattic staff, she contributes as much help and advice as some – she’s so often around. Well. Any one of you who really cares about his/her site and how it functions within the WordPress environment had better make time to go to TimeT...

Wham! bam! – kill that spam …

nospamJust added an Akismet counter to my widgets: it’s getting so that every time I log on the first thing I have to do is check my dashboard to get rid of however many spam messages there are. So I decided to let Akismet tally ’em for me, although it’ll probably only enrage me. Plus I’m hoping that would-be spammers will realise they’re wasting their time …

:-(

The ones that make me REALLY angry as those that cover an entire screen – but I should probably add that my format is landscape, not portra...

An amazing morning !

I was out on my balcony, watering what is now a very small collection of plants, when I got down to the far end where I have two hanging baskets – a chain-of-hearts and a hoya. What particular kind (genus?) of hoya it is, I know not: I bought it at Plants-R-Us roughly 5 years ago, when a dear friend drove me there one Sunday morning. I believe it did have a label on it; but it hasn’t had for most of that time.

Throughout those 5 years it had grown extremely slowly, putting out the occasional fe...

M.R. vs The Pattern

I know there’s a well-known title about “[someone] vs the [something]” – great memory, eh? Not.:-(

Anyway …

You may recall my seeking opinions re crochet square patterns. (If you don’t, consider yourself whacked across the back of the head.) This is the one that received the most votes:

In truth, it was one of two; but I went for it.

I now show you this exhibit – as well as sounding like a prosecution lawyer – so that you can see how vastly different these squares look, depending upon the colours...

OK – lay it on me …

CommentsOf late I’ve exchanged Comments with blogging friends who have said that they actually prefer to receive genuine opinions rather than well-meant but perhaps not entirely sincere praise.

( You can tell immediately that they are referring to my Comments, can’t you?!:-\ )

The thing is this, it seems to me: what’s the point of writing something fulsome if you don’t truly think the post worth it? Why add your opinion to those of others being nice when that’s not the effect some post generates upon y...
