📚 Audio Video 📚

Hey there, lovely reader,I'm taking the week off writing and will start again on April 1st, but have a few announcements to make. If you celebrate Easter, I hope you eat as much chocolate as you wish (which may be none, of course – I prefer hot cross buns) and have a lovely weekend.I am reading the biography of Agatha Christie – I think I mentioned it before. I am up to the part where she causes her own real-life mystery by disappearing for several days sparking a huge (for the time) manhunt....

📚 A birthday, an interview, and audiobooks 📚

Hey there, lovely reader,I enjoyed one of my twice a year visits to the movies last weekend. I forgot my earbuds which was troubling for the previews, but the film I went to see was gentle and quiet for which I was grateful. The film was One Life about the story of Nicholas Winton who, against all the odds, organized the rescue of 669 Jewish children in Czechoslovakia, bringing them to England, settling them with foster parents, and almost certainly saving their lives.

I was struck by how unass...

📚 Early mornings 📚

Hey there, lovely reader,The clocks have changed here in the US and I'm sitting at my desk at 5:30 a.m. (really 4:30 a.m!) writing, writing. I love the early morning – so peaceful and quiet. I typically go out for a morning walk at 6 a.m. for 90 minutes, after I have run a few checks on my inbox, social media, and drunk my favorite drink, instant coffee made with 2% skimmed milk. It's a stable, consistent routine that starts my days off just right.

Later, with three men in the house, things get...

📚 I nearly decided not to 📚

Greetings!I'm getting closer and closer to publishing the next book in the Diana Hunter series, Broken. I can't wait to share it with you.

To whet your appetite, I have a teaser and a new game that you can play without having read the book. But first, a warning.

Broken: A warning

Broken is the penultimate book in the Diana series. It's great. I love it. It's the first Diana in erm, what, six years? And I know Diana readers have been anxiously looking forward to it. But I want to prepare you.

W...

📚 Don’t get left behind 📚

Hey there,I am bereft. After twenty years, my hairdresser is retiring. He lives in Miami and has decided not to travel to the Bay Area anymore. When I first went to him, I had hair down my back and I wanted a change. I dropped my kids off to preschool and without telling anyone went to see him. (I did not want to be dissuaded.)

After I was given a nice, freeing, curly bob, I went to pick up my kids. My three year old's face lit up when he saw me arrive, but as he ran towards me, confusion cross...

📚 A story about Dora The Explorer and me 📚

Hey there, lovely reader,I was having lunch with a friend last week and we were talking about how, twenty years ago, when we were raising very young children, computers for kids were still in their infancy. We discussed how lucky we were that our children loved books and that we were able to share that love with them.

It reminded me of a story I wrote waaayyy before I was an author – on a blog I used to write called The Secret Life of a Warrior Woman. It was about my life raising twins. This pa...

📚 It was a dark and stormy morning… 📚

Hey there, lovely reader,It was New Years Eve 2022. I was heading to an early morning doctor's appointment. It was dark. No one was about. It was raining. As I went down the hill, I noticed rainwater accompanying me on my journey, but I didn't worry too much.I got to a poorly lit part of town, on the flat, and by this time the roads were slightly flooded. I was getting worried, but I didn't have far to go, so I pressed on. I reached a part of town that was unlit.

I was committed in the middle ...

📚 Novelties, news, and titbits 📚

Hey there, lovely reader,New year, new you? I hope not. I think you're pretty great as you are. 😊Today, I have updates on my wip, some recommended authors whose writing is set in earlier eras, and what to do if you don't follow me on Amazon.Always learning, always thinking . . .

My husband often says this to me, usually accompanied by a tap on the side of his nose. 🙄 😊

I'm cracking away with Diana #5. There's a lot of research that goes into these books and one of the things I love about wri...

📚 What does 2024 have in store? 📚

Hey there, lovely reader,Good morning! We're into the second week of the new year and I'm cracking on with Diana #5. Yesterday I got some writer's block on a scene and was also noodling another plot point. I started to procrastinate.I ended up buying a few things on Amazon, did some of my latest jigsaw, watched a few dance reels on Facebook (I love those dancers – oh, to be able to do that!) and then returned to my wip.

As if by magic, I effortlessly finished up the scene and resolved the othe...
