You Are Not Invisible

This post contains affiliate links. For more info, see my disclosures here.

You are not invisible.  Nor should you be.

I see you.  I see the struggles you are going through.  They treat you as if you do not matter, and they act as if what you have endured is not important.

They are wrong.  You do matter, and what you have endured is important.  Yes, you have struggled against incredible odds, and continue to fight to do so.  Your fight is not a lost cause.  This battle is just another in the war that ultimately you will win.

You are not invisibleHow do I know that you will win?  Because you are not invisible.  You are strong, even when you do not feel strong.  The power you have is incredible, it is positivity in its purest, rawest form, and you can employ it in whatever means you need.

The tools in your arsenal are many.  They may not appear to care, and they might strive to keep you disempowered…but that is a battle they cannot win.  History stands against them.

You are not invisible.  They can turn away, they can attempt to belittle you, disempower you, even ignore you…but you will still be there.  And you are not alone.

There are many of you.  I know that you feel alone, and that you each have had unique struggles and challenges.  Nonetheless, you are not alone.  You are powerful, and you can change this world for the better.

I am your ally, and I will stand by your side in whatever way I can.

Yes, I know I cannot fully understand the conflict in the same way because of how we are different.  But I will still stand by your side in whatever capacity that I can.  I see you, and you are not invisible, and I will uphold that with you.

They fear that you are not invisible

It is because they are afraid that they want to make you invisible.  They know that you have the power to topple them from their illusionary control.  In their fear of you, they spread negativity because it is only with fear that they can maintain their so-called control.

You have far more powerful weapons.  Hope.  Conviction.  Community.  You have the numbers and positivity on your side.

You Are Not InvisibleThere are also many more allies on your side.  You are not invisible, and it is time for those of us who will stand beside you to be equally visible.  This is not a struggle you undertake on your own, and though many who share my gender have done terrible things, that is not all of us.

We get to vote in just over a month.  Together, let’s send as many of those arrogant, self-serving “representatives” as we can home, without this job.  For the rest, we need to work together to show them that you will not be ignored, that your voices WILL be heard, and that they cannot deny you, ignore you, or neglect you.

Consciousness creates reality.  You are not invisible.  And that empowers you.  When you are empowered, you have the ability to empower us all.

Finding positivity is not hard, but it does require action.

Knowing that you are not invisible, you can work with your allies to change the world.  When we work together, and show those who try to keep you down that they cannot succeed in making you disappear or be silent, you are empowered, and we gain the opportunity through you to empower ourselves.  When we feel empowered, we often spread that feeling to others around us, and as such can build more positive feelings.  We can use the positive feelings this generates to dissolve negative feelings.  When we take away negative feelings, we open up space to let in positive feelings, and that is something we can be grateful for.  Gratitude leads to happiness.  Happiness is the ultimate positive attitude.  Positive attitude begets positive energy, and that is always a good thing.

This is the two-hundred and forty-third entry of my Positivity series.  It is my hope these weekly messages might help spread positive energies for everyone.  Feel free to share, re-blog and spread the positivity.

What is Morality?

This post contains affiliate links. For more info, see my disclosures here.

Morality is a matter that gets skirted around a lot these days.

Unless you are living under a rock, and to some degree I kind of envy you if you are, you see the travesty happening in the United States Senate currently.  The hearings for the President’s Supreme Court nominee are a total circus.  Despite multiple accusations of sexual misconduct, there is almost an entire party, comprised largely of old white guys, pushing to confirm this surreal inhuman being to the highest court in the land.

MoralityIn support of the women who have come forward thus far, I know an absolutely startling number of people who have been posting #whyididntreport.  That we live in a society where this is still such a devastating issue is pretty damned depressing.

So let’s talk about something that we tend to sweep under the table.  Morality.

What exactly is morality?  To put it simply, this is the principles we live by to make the distinctions between right and wrong.  This is a singular tenet of basic human existence…but frequently it gets lumped in with spirituality and religion.

I have written in the past about how religion, spirituality and morality are three separate tenets.  All you have to do is look at the United States Congress to see so-called “religious” people who are clearly amoral and almost certainly lacking any spirituality.

One of the biggest misidentifications of morality comes of grouping it with religion.  Frequently we are told that the “morals” of a given religious entity matter more than another.  Let’s face it, if you want to get really technical, most religious wars are less about concepts of God(s) and more about comparative moralities.

If our so-called leaders were actually moral, then the nomination would have been withdrawn with the first accusation.

Morality varies wildly

So here is where this all gets super-muddy.  Please note – I am not saying that this is right, but I am pointing out that it is a matter of comparative morality.

Some argue that a man has the right to take as he wants.  By their moral code, a woman is lesser.  This is why women get paid two-thirds what their male counterparts make; this is why the victims, particularly female rape and assault victims, are so frequently shamed; it is because of this that there are laws governing women’s health and none their equal governing men’s health.

If this is comparative morality, doesn’t this make this viewpoint “right”, from a certain point of view?  No.  Why?  Because we are all created equal.

When you get beneath the skin, plumb into the depths of our microscopic existence and beyond, we are all just beings of pure energy.  None of us are greater nor lesser than any others.  All such beliefs are the construct of our corporeal existences.

Because we are all equal, the treatment of any as being lesser, whether it is due to gender, race, skin color, hair color, religion, sex, national identity, or what-have-you, is not moral.  This is because it is wrong to treat people as lesser for these artificially constructed reasons.

Yes, morality is a totally personal notion.  My morals are probably different from yours in many ways.  But there are certain things that are universally wrong.  While there are certainly a number of grey and rainbow-hued areas in-between, there are still outright matters of right and wrong.

One of the largest and most egregious wrongs is treated people as lesser.  Nobody should be made to feel that they are unimportant because of the color of their skin or their genitalia or anything else.

Morality is as simple as it is complex

In too many respects, the idea of morality has been corrupted.  If you don’t believe me, look at those who put an emphasis on “family values” when it comes to politics.  How many of the supposedly religious men they support are on their second, third, or fourth marriage, or have had affairs, or are corrupt in some other way?

Important side-note – I am using marriage as an example specific to these “family values” politicians.  There is nothing morally wrong with divorce, non-traditional forms of marriage, and various other relationships between people.  Period, end of story.

Because of this corruption of the concept of morality, we have these so-called leaders in office who continue to make it abundantly clear that the only people they represent is themselves.  It is senseless, depressing, and disheartening.  But this is a war that each of us can win.

Morality can be a source of hope

Consciousness creates reality.  If you and I approach the world from a place of morality that isn’t about superiority, and focuses on abundance and equality, we can develop change.  When we take the time to better our own lives, and to not just believe the people who have been hurt, assaulted, raped, or otherwise made to feel lesser, but stand with them to change the way this system is currently working, we can develop a better reality.

The women and men posting #whyididntreport are not doing so for sympathy…they are doing so to prove that nobody is alone, that we all have people we can stand side-by-side with.  This is how we show those who disbelieve the reality of the world…and work to change it.

We have an opportunity amidst some terrible chaos to develop new order.  We can begin to work with our individual thoughts, feelings and actions to alter the false morality with a truer morality.  When we work together we can manifest better for everyone.

Is your morality one of equality, abundance, and joy for all?

How Can Letting Go Empower Us?

Letting go is frequently challenging.  But doing so opens you up to tremendous amounts of positivity.

This can present a huge number of issues, however.  Sometimes letting go is challenging because deep emotions can be connected to the thing you need to release.  No matter how logical you might style yourself as being, nor no matter how hard you try to not hold onto emotions, this can be complicated.

Letting go empowersYes, I have written many times that we are all able to control our emotions.  I know that things happen that create an emotional response that may begin outside of our control.  But how long we let it fester, before taking control of it, is wholly up to each of us.

Even knowing this, however, doesn’t make certain situations easier when it comes to letting go.  If something evokes a particularly strong emotion, or is attached to something long-standing and difficult, it may feel as if you are asking the impossible.

Consciousness creates reality.  If I hold on to negative emotions, pain, suffering, victimization, I am going to only draw more pain, suffering, and experiences where I feel victimized to me.  This is how the Law of Attraction works.  And you know what?  Even if you find all my writing about conscious reality creation and this hooky-spooky stuff kind of hokey, do you desire bad feelings?  Do you prefer to feel negativity regularly?

I’m pretty certain that the answer is no.

This is why letting go, though challenging, is majorly empowering.  When we do things that empower us, we improve our lives.  Why?  Because empowering is gaining some control.  Empowering gives you authority over you own life, strengthens you, and generates more confidence.  You free yourself from feeling like life happens to you.  You let go.

Letting go frees you

It is not just a matter of freeing you from feeling bad, or dwelling on a negative thought, feeling or action.  It is a matter of decision.  This is a matter of cutting off that feeling of having no say, no control, now power over you own destiny.  You are saying “I have had enough”, and you choose a new direction.

Letting go I know that this is often easier said than done.  But that does not lessen its impact.  When we desire to let go of something that feels as if it is rooted deeply, and connected to strong thoughts and/or feelings, it can feel wrong.  This can feel like we are letting go of something that is a part of ourselves.  When it is gone, will we still be the same?  Do we lose something in letting go?

Yes.  We lose the albatross around our neck.  That long-standing grudge.  The deep, unfortunate, almost unforgivable hurt.  We lose something we do not need, because it has been getting in our way.  This is not a true part of ourselves.  It is a lie we believe is true.

Letting go sets us free to make improvements.  We can build tremendous positivity, and share it with others.

Important note – letting go is not ignoring righting a wrong.  This is about empowering ourselves to do just that.

Finding positivity is not hard, but it does require action.

Knowing that letting go of deep-rooted thoughts and feelings can empower us to better our lives, we gain an incredible tool to build positivity.  When we work with this to make change in the world around us, ultimately we not only others around us, but we majorly empower ourselves.

Atonement from What?

Today is the Day of Atonement, Yom Kippur.  It is the holiest day of the year in Judaism.  It is on this day that those who practice Judaism ask God to forgive them for all the sins they may have committed during the year, and once again inscribe them into the Book of Life for the New Year.

I was born and raised Jewish, and used to attend services every Yom Kippur, and as is tradition I would fast on the day of.  I did this for years, in part because I felt I had a duty and an obligation, and in part because there was something about participating in the services that felt right.

Some years back, I was attending a Yom Kippur service.  This was on the heels of some rough patches in my life, and a crisis of faith where I shifted from Conservative to Reform Judaism.

AtonementI am sitting in the synagogue, on the Day of Atonement, and I admit it likely didn’t help that the cantor was singing flat.  But what really struck me was the rabbi’s litany.

If you are not familiar with the notion of Yom Kippur, this is the day where those of the Jewish faith fast, neither eating nor drinking from sunset to sunset, in order to receive atonement from God for all of their sins.

The rabbi is asking for God to forgive us for the sin of this, or the sin of that, or the sin of the other thing, and sin upon sin upon sin.  All transgressions against the will of God, since it is he we need to seek to forgive us.

It was here I came to realize that I do not believe in sin.

From whom do I need atonement?

For the record, I believe in a higher power.  I do not know what it is, but I tend to refer to it as the Powers that Be.  It is not my belief that this higher power is necessarily divine nor omnipotent.  Instead, I believe that it’s the greater oversoul from which all of us originate.

Since energy can neither be created nor destroyed, but transmuted, it doesn’t feel hard to believe that we all originated from the same source.  Energy is the one thing we all have in common, which we also share with both grains of sand and galaxies.

My philosophy thus explained, I cannot fathom us sinning against the oversoul, as it has a consciousness that is far different from our own.  Since we are all one, and all of us are composed of the same stuff, then whom are we seeking atonement from?  If there is nobody to sin against, what do we need to atone for?

Don’t mistake this notion for denying the ideas of right and wrong.  More often than not, of course, it’s either grey or rainbow-hued, rather than black and white.  For example, stealing to gain more coin for the sake of coin is wrong.  Stealing a loaf of bread to feed a starving child is still wrong, because it is stealing, bit it is not the same.

This gets into the tenets of morality, spirituality, and religion.  All are individual, and we can have any one, or combination of the three we ascribe to.  Let’s be blunt here, a lot of the so-called religious people out there in the world today are amoral and lack spirituality.

So if this is a question of spirit, morality, and/or religion, then to whom do we need our atonement?  Simple…ourselves.

Seek atonement for your own doings

We are all our own harshest critics.  Nobody can beat up on me better than I can.  There isn’t anyone else in the world who is as harsh a critic of me.  Nobody speaks as ill or me as I do, nor gets frustrated with me when I screw up as much as I do.

Because consciousness creates reality, if I believe that I am a screw-up, unworthy or undeserving, then that’s the reality I am creating.  When I get mad at myself because I do not live up to an ideal I have set for myself, I tend to create more situations where I can fail.  This is the law of attraction in action.

A great many of the mistakes, wrongs, and injustices we perpetrate are borne of fear, the lack and scarcity mentality of our society, and our own feelings of inadequacy.  Particularly ugly forms of this come in the guise of guilt, jealousy, and shame.  Nothing like a good, old-fashioned guilt trip to make you feel the need to atone for…something.

There is, as such, nothing wrong with seeking out atonement.  But it’s not so important that we do so for the sake of God, as much as we do so for our own sake.  The person we tend to most need to forgive is ourselves.

Forgiving ourselves is not easy.  In part because we do not feel we necessarily deserve forgiveness, and in part because we feel unworthy in the eyes of our contemporaries, be they coworkers, friends, or family.  We screw up, we lose our rights to good things.

Atonement is an apology for a wrong

On this Yom Kippur, I am going to work on asking for forgiveness to myself, for all the wrongs real and perceived.

It is my desire to be forgiven, by my self, for being lazy, failing, messing things up, unjust anger, and any other mistake, error, screw-up or wrong I have committed.  I need to atone, to apologize to me for being so hard on myself.

Dear self, forgive me.  I am sorry I have treated you so badly, and that I continue to think ill of me.  With this apology, I desire to let this go and better recognize my worth.  From here, I will strive to recognize that I deserve all the good life can give me.  In atoning to myself, I believe I can empower myself to manifest an amazing life.

May we be forgiven by ourselves for being imperfectly perfect human beings.

Whom do you seek atonement from?

Positivity Can be Found Anywhere

Positivity can be found anywhere.

How does the game Cards Against Humanity have anything to do with positivity?  Believe me when I tell you, it can generate massive positivity.

Positivity can be found anywhereIf you’re unfamiliar with the game, you are dealt out a number of white cards with various words and phrases, some benign, some…various degrees of raunchy and/or gross and/or nonsensical.  Then, you draw from the black cards, which usually have any range of one to three blank spots you fill in, much like Mad Libs.  For example, a particular favorite, a question such as, “Why am I sticky?”

Everyone chooses a white card and passes it to whomever drew the black card.  They then read aloud, and more often than not groans and laughter ensue.  You totally play to your audience, because the goal is to get your card chosen.  Whomever collects the most black cards by the end of the game wins.

There are a lot of expansion packs, and you can make your own cards, too.  As such, you can create a lot of cards specific to your friends and organizations.

The amount of laughter generated by one of these games, among my friends, is substantial.  Laughter is always a good thing, hence my claim that positivity can be found anywhere. It’s true true that positivity can be found anywhere.

Yes, the tagline for the game is, “A party game for horrible people.”  Yes, it can be dirty, and raunchy, and rude, and makes fun of many celebrities and public figures.  When you add in specific cards for, say, your hobby organization, it gains some great in-jokes, too.  It can be obnoxious, and mean, but because it’s a game, and it almost always draws a great deal of laughter, it’s tremendously positive.

How is it that positivity can be found anywhere?

Bad things happen.  We are all going to feel negative emotions, have bad days, and many experiences will be less than enjoyable.  That’s life.  However, how long we hold onto the negative feelings is entirely up to us.  If we let them linger, or we allow them to make us feel victimized, or we don’t in some way release them, they tend to build up.   That, in turn, tends to make them harder to release.

In especial when you have a stressful job, whether in real life or in your particular hobby.  It can be very difficult to release that tension.  Yes, Cards Against Humanity tends to play to a very specific audience…but nothing that draws that much laughter among friends is a bad thing.

The game is not about impressing anyone else, it is simply fun.  You get to see how dirty the minds of some of your friends are, and the shared laughter and groans at bad puns and snickers at in-jokes are like a power plant of positivity.

I believe that anything that allows us to relieve stress and enjoy the company of our friends is worthwhile.  It is far easier to consciously create a better reality when you feel positive.  It also helps to have memories of those moments, so that when you are dealing with stressful situations, whether at work in your hobby or your job, to better deal with the inevitable difficulties, complications, and negativity.

Finding positivity is not hard, but it does require action.

Knowing that positivity can be found anywhere, even in a “party game for horrible people,” we can look for the silver linings in the inevitable grey clouds, and choose to release negativity.  When we work to actively let go of negativity, it will make us feel better, which in turn helps us to empower ourselves.

Why Do We Compare Ourselves to Others?

There is no need to compare ourselves to anyone else.

Each of us is unique.  We have our own gifts, our own talents, our particular, special way.  Yes, we are made up of the same basic molecular structure, and our souls are all interconnected…but we are still separate, unique consciousnesses.

Consciousness creates reality in part because what separates us from the rest of the animal kingdom is our singular consciousness.  Our lot is not just to survive, propagate and thrive, but to explore, gain knowledge, and expand our awareness of all that is.

Compare ourselvesWhile we are all different as individuals, most of the means by which we separate ourselves are artificial.  The difference in the color of our skin, the shape of our eyes, religious beliefs, nationalities, sexual preferences, gender identity and so forth is an artifice.  These things, when all is said and done, do not matter.

What does matter is that we live in an abundant universe.  We are not in competition with anyone else.  Nobody is better, more deserving or worthier than anybody else when all is said and done.  So why do we always compare ourselves to others?

It is my belief that this is part of the artifice that our so-called leaders, be they spiritual, religious, business, governmental or what-have-you, created.  To empower themselves, and disempower those they desired to rule over, they created these artificial divisions…or, in some cases, used obvious differences such as gender, sex, and skin color.

This was born of a belief that there was not enough of…whatever resource…to go around.  Lack, scarcity, insufficient supply, call it what you will.  So they would hoard it, and did what they could to get the rest of us to compare ourselves to one another.

Such comparisons lead to competition.

Why do we compare ourselves to anyone else?

We live in an abundant universe.  It is infinite, enormous, and there is more than enough love, tangible and intangible things for everyone.  Yet when we are made to compare ourselves to those around us, invariably this leads us to competition.

I have written about this before, but to sum up…we are not in competition with one another.  Each of us has different needs and desires.  Sure, some of these things match up, like money and happiness and such…but for the most part, these desires are different for each of us.

Further, because this is an abundant universe, there isn’t any need to compete.

Those in power, especially those who are fearful of losing their power because they know that it’s just an illusion, want to disempower the people they feel they have power over.  The best way to do this is by using fear.

Fear is an incredibly powerful tool.  Some of us have fears of tangible things, but I think the vast majority are intangibles.  But a great way to disempower is to prop up someone that we can compare ourselves to.  That someone may be wealthy, successful, beautiful, confident, or some other attribute we likely desire for ourselves.

When we are bombarded by messages of lack and scarcity, and given over to fear that we are unworthy or undeserving, we may compare ourselves to that someone.  That comparison may lead us to make choices, based in fear, to outdo that someone.

I believe that we all do this, to a greater or lesser degree.  I write about this multiple times a week, repeating over and over again that consciousness creates reality.  But I still compare myself to others I wish in some way to emulate.  Often, because I fear I am undeserving of what they have.

We should only compare ourselves to ourselves

I am constantly striving to recognize my own worth.  Some days it feels much more like struggling.  But knowing that consciousness creates reality, I am aware that it is within my power to build the life I most desire to have.

No, I am not thin, nor tall, nor stunningly handsome.  I am, however, worthy and deserving of all the good the Universe has to offer me.  The only person I can compare myself to is the person I was, the person I am, and the person I desire to be.

This is why the only people we need to compare ourselves to is ourselves.  Who we are, who we were, who we desire to be are the only comparisons to be made.  Because we have the ability to learn in new, abstract, and totally random ways, this is the only comparison that counts.

That someone we compare ourselves to is no more worthy or deserving of good things than we are.  So long as we do our best, work to become better, and do nothing to intentionally harm another, we can have the same amazing things, be they tangible or intangible.

Competition belongs on the athletic field, and in the races to create better, more incredible things to help advance humankind.  Competition between you and I is irrelevant, and artificial.  When we compare ourselves to others, we feed this unnecessary fear.

We are powerful creatures.  You and I are worthy and deserving of all sorts of incredible things.  Let’s not compare ourselves to one another…let’s instead compare our notes, and work together for the greater good.

Who do you compare yourself with, and why?

Who Are You Trying to Impress?

There is nobody you need to impress but yourself.

I know that this seems like a lie.  But it is one of the greatest truths there is.

There are always going to be people who dislike you, or disapprove of you.  When they are acquaintances it’s a very different thing than when they are close friends or family.  Some of the ideas we have, decisions and choices we make, actions we take will not align with other people’s values, beliefs, or morality.  And this is perfectly ok.

We are each unique in how we think.  Every one of us has a different background we come from, and experiences we have had.  Because of this, so long as nothing you do is intended to cause harm, screw anyone else over, or destroy the livelihood, life, or experiences of another person, it is, in fact, a good thing.

When we stop trying to do things to win over or impress other people, we can focus on our own needs.  The opportunity to make decisions and choices to be happy and live the best lives that we can for ourselves is immeasurable.  This is, of course, a tremendous generator of positivity.

I have spent a lot of my life trying to win over people.  Making friends, having people like and respect me has always been really important to me.  But I have come to realize that, really, that’s not what will make me happy.  Only I can be happy with me.  The only person I actually NEED to impress is myself.  Not in an arrogant, self-righteous way…in a, “hey, I am a loveable, amazing and worthwhile person” way.

Not worrying about whether or not you impress other people is a matter of self-care.

No need to impress the world

Some people think that their worth is wholly based on what the world thinks of them.  That they have to impress people around them to have any value or even meaning in their life.  But true happiness comes from within, not from without.

ImpressConsciousness creates reality.  If you believe that you are only as worthwhile as the impression you make on people outside of yourself, then that will be your truth.  But in this abundant universe, you only need to impress yourself, by being a good, kind, empathetic, caring person.  If other people do not think well of you, but you strive to be a decent human being, that’s their problem, not yours.

We cannot please everyone, no matter how hard we try.  Each and every one of us will have our critics, those who do not believe in us or our ideas, and those we simply cannot win over no matter what.

If they cannot see you for the amazing person that you are, then you do not need that negativity in your life.  Be positive.  Impress yourself with all the good and amazing things you do.

Finding positivity is not hard, but it does require action.

Knowing that there is no need to impress other people in this life, we can work on simply being the kindest, most empathetic, grateful, generous, caring, good and loving person we wish to be.  When we stop worrying about how others perceive us, and strive to be the best person we can be, we empower ourselves.

What Do You Desire for Today?

What will I find that I desire for today?

Though today may have many similarities to yesterday, it will still be different. That’s because every single day of our lives is unique.  I know that that doesn’t always feel true, but it absolutely is.

The ambient temperature, humidity and pressure are different.  We likely are wearing different clothing.  What we eat will vary.  Yes, these are all really small, seemingly insignificant things, but the devil is in the details.  All big things are made of little things.

desire for todayBecause we are completely bombarded by information about big things over which we have little to no control, it’s easy to lose sight of the little things.  What’s more, because of the many mixed messages we are given, we see any desire for little things for ourselves as potentially selfish.  Thus, we tend to ignore our needs for self-care.

Does it matter what you or I desire for today?  Absolutely.  If we do not do things for ourselves, for our own happiness, self-care and peace-of-mind, we leave ourselves unable to do anything for anyone else.  This becomes the truth on every level, great or small.

Desiring things for ourselves is not selfish.  We are here on this planet, running around in these bags of water and meat, in order to experience all that we can.  This life is meant to be lived, for us to learn, grow, experience, and evolve.  Our souls are infinite, these bodies are not.

Nobody is in this world just to give and give, nor just to take and take, despite appearances.  We are incapable of making big changes to things like government and social conventions without beginning to change our own lives.  Choosing what we desire for today is a step in doing just that.

Embrace your desire for today, whatever it is

Do you want to write a poem?  Eat ice cream?  Have really awesome sex?  Buy yourself something impractical?  Sleep in?  Does it seem like something superficial and lame?  Well it’s not.  Your desire for today, whatever it may be, is important.  It is a little thing that matters on a much grander scale than we tend to acknowledge.

I have written here before about my desire to be a best-selling author, and to do things beyond this blog to help other people live the most amazing lives they possibly can.  I have some pretty big, high-level goals.  Want to know one of the things that most holds me back?  The little, day-to-day things.  Getting caught up in my own head, and doing less of what I desire for today and more of what I think is expected of me.

Consciousness creates reality.  This is not a once-in-a-while act.  Thoughts, feelings and actions every single day impact who you are, and who you may desire to become.  When I ignore little things, like what I may desire for today and what I am doing, I do not help create the necessary building blocks that will get me to my goals.

Every structure has a foundation.  That foundation is made up of items that are, themselves, made up of smaller materials.  Every small bit counts, because without it, you have nothing to build upon.  It is for this reason that the little bits and pieces which we desire for today for ourselves are important, and not at all selfish.

Selfish is when you deny good to others.  It is when you hoard, withhold, show no empathy nor kindness, maybe even cause harm.  That is selfish.  Care for your self is not that at all.

You deserve what you desire for today

There is no need to prove yourself.  You do not need to be greater, smarter, faster, more attractive, or whatever garbage society might feed you.  Whatever you desire for today, you are worthy and deserving of having it.

Many of us fight feelings of guilt over desiring our desires.  How can we desire to have this thing which seems insignificant in the face of all that bullshit happening in the world today?  Yet it is that seemingly insignificant thing that really does matter, because we cannot fix anything big if we are not content on the most personal level.

I need to remember this more.  Rather than feel bad because I desire to have a thing for myself, whether that’s money, success, a new car, happiness, love, or any other tangible or intangible thing – I need to remember that I am worthy and deserving of what I desire for today.  Why?  Because when I feel worthy and deserving, I feel empowered.  When I am empowered, I can better help empower others.

This is where so many of those “in power” get it wrong.  They get greedy and they hoard things and disempower others because they believe in lack and scarcity, and that they have to deny others to keep or gain more of what they have.  But the real truth is that when you empower people, you gain when they gain.  Positive begets positive, because like attracts like.  Consciousness creates reality.

You are worthy of what you desire for today

Go and get that thing, enjoy that time or person, do that activity which makes you feel good.  You have earned the right to have what you desire for today and every day, and it does not detract from that which anyone else desires.  I need to remember this for myself, and strive to see all the adventure my day is worthy of.

Keep being the most awesome you that you can be.  I believe in you.  Let’s make this shit happen and experience all the incredible awesomeness available to us.

Do you choose to have what you desire for today?

Why is it the Same, But Different?

This day is the same, but different from yesterday.

Despite their similarities, no two days are exactly alike.  No two people are alike.  Each and every one of us feels things differently.  No matter what the subject, it may feel as if it is the same, but it’s different.

The same, but differentIt is very easy to fall into routines.  We human beings are enormous fans of things being unchanging, and familiar.  But as I have been writing a lot lately, change is inevitable.  It will happen, so you and I get to choose what that will feel like.  So it may seem to be the same, but different.

Different is good.  And yet, large swaths of this society dislike and fear different.  Look at our President, and his unabashed dislike of the different.  Are you brown, black, female, Muslim?  Well, you are thus different, and as such suspect.  Except this is complete and utter bullshit.  Rather than let that which is different about us divide us, we should celebrate it.

The paradox of similar but unique can drive you crazy.  Do what you are expected, but stand out.  Except, don’t stand out TOO much, because then you are different, and as such suspect.  Is it any wonder our society is constantly struggling in so many different ways?

The point of this is that it is time to recognize that while this, that, or the other comes across as being the same, but different.  And that is where it can be wonderful.  We have an opportunity to take control and create change, and if yesterday was awful, we can work to make today better, no matter how similar they may be.  Consciousness creates reality.

It may be the same, but different anyhow

Maybe yesterday I got up, went to work, came home, went to bed, and today is the same.  But that’s not true, because there will be differences.  Maybe yesterday was sunny, but today is raining.  Maybe I had nothing to do after work yesterday, but tonight I have fencing.  Perhaps I wrote fiction yesterday, but I am blogging nonfiction today.  These are differences.

The Same, but DifferentThe point I am working to make here is that this is tremendously positive.  Why?  Because it means that if it is the same, but different, we can change it.  If it was bad, we can work to make it good.  If it was good, we can work to make it great.  There is an opportunity to ponder, it was great, can we make it better?  Positivity can be created and spread.

We live in tumultuous times.  It can be really difficult to find the positive, especially when we have routines we get swept up in.  But rather than be fearful and anxious about change, we can instead view it as an opportunity to generate positivity.  Maybe today feels the same, but it’s different from yesterday…and that means it can be more, no matter what yesterday was like.

Finding positivity is not hard, but it does require action.

Knowing that this, that or the other thing is the same, but different, there is an incredible amount of potential to generate phenomenal positivity.  When we work on building more positivity into our lives, it makes us feel stronger, more capable, better able to create changes, and ultimately we empower ourselves.

Why Do You Deserve What You Desire?

Why do you deserve what you desire?  The short answer is simply – because you do.

The slightly longer answer is because you deserve what you desire because you are capable of creating an incredible life where you are content and happy, because you can.

Deserve what you desireThe much longer answer is that you deserve what you desire because we live in an abundant universe.  Because of that abundance, and our power as creators, we are able to manifest our desires, and create unique, incredible, awesome, amazing lives.

It is imperative that we wrap our heads around several truths here.  These truths are not self-evident, which is part of the issue.

Truths about why you deserve what you desire

First – We live in an abundant universe.  We are constantly being sold lack and scarcity.  Supplies are limited, resources are finite, yadayadayada.  But when you look at how amazingly, infinitely expansive the Universe is, it’s evident how abundant it is.  When we buy into all the messages of lack and scarcity and not enough, we fuel the fire.  But it is not the truth.

I know that this feels like a lie – but it is not.  The universe is truly a place of abundance.  We need to stop accepting the lie that it is not, and realize that in this abundance we can do a whole lot of incredible, amazing things.

Second – We are the creators of our lives.  Yes, there are things that we cannot control that happen around us and to us, but how we handle them and what we do with them is wholly on us.  Things outside of ourselves can and will drive our emotions, but we have the ability to choose for how long.  After that, we get to build our lives how we want them to be.

It does not always feel true, but we choose where and how to live, who to associate with, where to work, what to eat and where, and so on.  Sometimes this is challenging, but we always have a choice.  We are only trapped or stuck in a place because we have painted ourselves into that corner.  And that is the truth.

More truths about why you deserve what you desire

Third – We are worthy and deserving of all that we desire.  No matter what it is, we are worthy of it.  We deserve it.  That doesn’t mean the Universe in all its abundance will simply hand it to us on a silver platter.  But it does mean that we are worthy of having it.

Tangible or intangible, we are worthy and deserving of love, money, abundance, joy, friends and lovers, cars, peace, and everything else that we want.  We are often told that we need to be thinner, more attractive, smarter, better dressed, richer or what-have-you to be worthy of this, that or the other thing.  But that’s not the case.  You are worthy, you are deserving, and you do deserve what you desire.

Fourth – We are not in competition for resources.  If I make a million dollars, it doesn’t deny you the ability to make a million dollars or more, and vice versa.  When you find a lover, it doesn’t take away that ability to find a lover from anyone else.  We desire different things, or even when things are similar there are differences because even with all the ways in which we are the same, each of us is unique.  But WE ARE NOT IN COMPETITION FOR RESOURCES.

Because we frequently experience almost surreal amounts of greed and arrogance from many of the super-wealthy, we believe that there is lack and scarcity where it is a complete artifice.  The truth is, it’s not a finite pie, it is infinite subatomic particles.  When you have, you do not deny the ability of another to have, too.  That is the truth.

When we accept these truths, we can begin to better use consciousness to create reality.  With that, we can manifest a truly amazing world.

You deserve what you desire because you are worthy

You are worthy of love, of success, of joy, of abundance, of anything and everything you desire to have in your life.  I know there are times when that feels like total bullshit, but it is still the truth.

We are loved.  Maybe you are alone, and maybe not.  But I assure you that you ARE loved.  I may or may not know you, but I think you’re a pretty amazing person.  You deserve what you desire, you are worthy of all the awesomeness you desire to have in your life.

It really is that simple.

The challenge is to ignore the overwhelming stream of negativity; the absence of kindness and empathy in so many people in so-called power; the messages of lack and scarcity; the fear being used to hold people down and prevent empowerment.  We are empowered by our own minds, and we can use our thoughts, feelings and intentional actions to create an incredible world.

When you see that you deserve what you desire, and you go for it, you are empowered.  When you are empowered, you will, in turn, empower those around you.  You are worthy and deserving of all good things.  And more.

Remember this, and know that it is the truth.

Can you see that you deserve what you desire?
