Loncon 3

Last year I was able to travel to Worldcon in San Antonio. Regrettably this year I will be unable to make the trek across the sea to the Worldcon in London.

In honor of Loncon 3, I've made some writing samples free to download from Amazon.com.

Elves: The Syyl is a fantasy short that sets the stage for future tales. Originally based off of a screenplay I wrote. The next installment in the series I hope you will enjoy even more.

The Geno Virus is my take on AI.

Shadows on the Plain is a story I wrote when I was 19. The great Fred Pohl provided me some notes and suggestions for improving the ending.

Hope you have fun at Loncon 3. I look forward to hearing all about it and seeing your pictures.

Thanks,
RKT

Projects

I'm working on a few projects for Amazing Stories Magazine at the moment.

I'm also spending hard time working on a few stories as well as Azakor.

Good things come to those who wait. I appreciate the patience of those who are waiting for the second installment of the Legends of the Syyl.

Thanks,
RKT

Harlan Ellison

The last few months, I've had the extraordinary opportunity to work with the legendary Harlan Ellison.

Much sweat has gone into bringing the conversation I had with him to the pages of Amazing Stories Magazine.

A great many people associate bad things with Harlan.

I choose instead to focus on his brilliance as a writer.

If I had to agree with the actions, beliefs, and opinions of every author I read, I would never read anything. I'd probably give up TV and films as well.

Hope you enjoy the interview. You can find it on the Amazing website at the following link.

Back from Hiatus

I’m happy to be back updating my blog.

My extended absence from the electronic pages of Goodreads is now at an end.

I’ve been busy while I was away. Working on more projects than is sanely recommended. If you missed it, I was fortunate enough to have my story THE GINO VIRUS published in the 88th Anniversary Issue of Amazing Stories Magazine.

You can read it for free by visiting the site. The free membership allows you a downloadable copy. Hope you enjoy.

Thanks,

SFWA

Regarding the latest uprising in the ranks of the SFWA. Don't worry. The sky is not falling.

Having recently had the pleasure to study more closely the ins and outs of the industry since its inception, these types of spats are the norm rather than the exception.

This too will pass, and we will all be better for it. Consider it growing pains.

I trust they will get it right.

Upcoming

I'm working on several more interviews with some of my favorite authors. I hope you will enjoy them.

If you feel brave and have someone that you would like to see me interview for Amazing Stories, send me a message or post here and I'll try to sign them up.

The snow and cold this winter in the US has been oppressive. I enjoy a good winter, but I'm looking forward to a little thaw.

Pounding away at the keyboard on some new fiction, including Aza'kor. Hopefully you think it is all worth the wait.

Writing

Still pecking away working on Aza'kor as well as a few other small projects.

Working as always to improve my writing. What do they say, "If you're not getting better, you're getting worse."

Hopeful that my readers will be able to notice the improvement when my next story finally reaches air.

Neil Clarke

I had the great opportunity to interview Neil Clarke from Clarkesworld.

If you have never read anything he publishes, time to get over to his website. It's all free.

He truly does publish stories that I like to read. (Most of them anyway.)

Hope you enjoy.
