The Better Man Project | Official Video
The Better Man Project is a look at my daily journey towards becoming a better man, as well as a glimpse into the valuable lessons I learn along the way.
Socrates once said, “True knowledge exists in knowing that you know nothing.” I, in fact, know nothing. But because I know nothing, I have given myself the best opportunity to learn from everything. That is why I am here in front of you today, and that is how The Better Man Project was born.
Several years ago, I sat on the bed in my small dorm room and realized that whatever path I was on was destined for disaster. My life lacked love, passion, and goals that could inspire me to achieve my true potential. I was desperately trying to contain an emotional tornado inside of me, and realized that the damage was reaching a point of irreversibility. The forces of change were knocking on my door, and if that call was left unanswered, my worst nightmare was waiting for me right around the corner.
I decided to try something new. The Better Man Project was originally intended to be a 30-day challenge to develop myself into a better man. Well, the project passed 30 days, 60 days, 90 days…and now I stand in front of you – the product of almost 1,000 days of personal cave diving into the depths of my heart – lantern in hand, searching for even more answers.
I am not here to give you a formula. I am not here to tell you that I have some secret for how to be happy. Instead, I am here to tell you why you should embark on a journey that will be marked by times of darkness, but that will in the end, result in one thing: light.
Each and every one of you will have a different path. No two will be the same, but they will all have something in common: the fact that you will be going against the grain and living a life that you are proud of. You will face your fears by moving against a culture that is designed to groom you to be just like everyone else. But it won’t be easy because you will have to overcome significant obstacles in order to achieve true happiness and realize your dreams. However, when you finally remove can’t from your vocabulary, you will develop into someone who finds motivation and inspiration within in order to create a vibrant future.
I can tell you that my journey will never end. My life has permanently changed course because of this project and I have truly learned how to be a man. And to all the women out there, my project isn’t just about men’s issues. I am confident that if you join me and open this book, you might just find out how to be a better person as well.
I promise you that this is going to be one awesome, wild ride.
Love. Passion. Never Quit.

Choosing Love Over Fear [Love Over Fear]
I think there is a tendency, when bad things happen, to downplay our own role because it is easier to blame other people for the final result. However, if you are truly honest with yourself, you take responsibility for the things that you know you should. It may hurt a bit, and your ego is going to get a pretty nice smack, but it’s necessary.
When you speak from the heart, you give other people to see the real you.
Your hands and legs may shake, you may be filled with fear of the outcome, but you will never truly regret speaking your heart when you do. There have been many times throughout my life that I didn’t say something I knew I should have…something I knew that I wanted to but I was too afraid of getting rejected. Sometimes, getting rejected by someone is the best thing that can happen to you. It’s like the heavens are waving their finger at you going “nah ah” that’s not for you…you need to go this way instead.

The Mystery Of It All
I’ve had a profound weekend. Profound because of the conversations that bloomed from those who were struggling. Profound because of those whispers in my ears again telling me that what I was doing is what I should be doing. Those timeless glimpses of the future. That’s what keeps me moving forward. That’s what excites me.
The one thing that I have really learned how to do over the past year or so is to let my emotions flow through me. When I am down I let them out. When I am up I enjoy them to the max. We are all fluid beings. Emotions run over us like the tides of the ocean. Most of the time it is memories of our past that stem these feelings…and they can be quite significant. But sometimes, the power of the moment we are in hits us like a speeding train, and those are special moments.
Truly living in the present can be difficult at times, but when you are in that moment, you feel it instead of trying to achieve it. You are just there.
If we let our minds spend too much time processing in the future and the past we give up our ability to create in the present. This is much easier said than done of course. For whatever reason, we are absolutely obsessed with the way things used to be or the way things will be…instead of the way things are.
Now I won’t lie, I am a dreamer. I spend a great deal of time hatching my plans for the future and creating my grand vision. But I have learned from mentorship and reading that I need to 1. have a foundation of gratitude for what I have right now and 2. always be in action in regards to creating that grand future.
I have met a lot of people who have this want and desire for something better, yet aren’t doing what it takes today to get there tomorrow. I myself used to be that person. I say used to because I have changed that reality. I now, without excuse (most of the time) or reason always take a step, even if it just a single step, towards my grand dream and making it happen.
Sometimes a step is all you need.
That first step can be rough. It’s hard because you can’t see the next 200ft in front of you because it’s covered in fog. Fog so thick that you can’t even see what is beyond it. But you keep running, almost on your tippy toes because you want to be ready if something comes up that you couldn’t see. And that’s fine. Be ready. But always stay running.
The hardest part of any journey isn’t the actual work you have to put in or the middle or the end, but the first step.
I will always believe in that. The first step is the hardest because you are doing something you’ve never done before. After I accomplished my 14 week challenge, I took about 2 weeks to start the next 14 week challenge. Even though I had done it before, I still have nerves and doubts about if I could do it again. The one thing that was there though that wasn’t there before was a pure excitement of achieving this next goal rather than a fear of it not working.
That helped me once again take my first step. This time, it was a lot easier.
There is no doubt in my mind that I will once again cross the 28 week mark as a completely new and changed man. I am just a tad over halfway through everything and I can already see the changes in my life. The other day when I was going through my old book I realized just how much effort I was giving to trying these challenges – and just how much I was failing over and over again. In my words there was always a sense of hope, but at the same time, there was an undercurrent of despair.
Now the hope is still there, along with deep seeded resilience and for the first time – confidence. What could you not do with those three?
This past month has been an interesting one in terms of my changing moods and mindset. If anything, it has spurred a lot of honesty with myself. I have been thinking about things that have happened in the past – those events that have defined my life – and I have seen just how much of a role to play I had. It really hasn’t been an ego smack, but more of a realization of something that I probably knew already deep inside of me. There’s been no breakdown, no tears, no pressure on myself, but just coming to peace with the fact that the honesty has driven a new reality.
That being said, it wasn’t all fun and games thinking about some of the events that have happened. And honestly, there were things that just happened. But for a few situations, I shed some light on everything.
Anyways, this post kind of went everywhere, but there is one thing that I want to really come away with. Put in the work. That’s the only thing that’s ever going to make it all happen. Sure you may be scared when you start, but if you miss out on putting in the work, you will absolutely never reach where you want to. Work your butt off. Swear. Blood. Tears. Nothing short of your best.

Abs: The Secret Revealed By Lazar Angelov [Lazar Angelov Abs Secret]
I recently purchased Lazar Angelov’s Abs Secrets revealed e-book and I can’t tell you how excited I am to begin tomorrow morning October 3, 2014. Since I have been in a dieting phase for a while involving carb cycling and a few other of the phases he recommended, I am going to go into the ketogenic phase and follow his abs workouts to the T in combination with my regular lifting.
Lazar has been a hero of mine for a while and I am so glad he came out with the e-book because it was a solid overview of proper nutrition, workouts, and the importance of developing a good mentality about the gym.
Just wanted to say a quick thank you and do a video before I started. I have weighed in at 194 today @ 6.5% body fat and hope to drop some pounds to get down to 4%. I will do a video every week with an update on how things are going!
Hope you like this.

Start Fast, Finish Strong | 100 Day Challenge
Recently, I undertook the biggest challenge of my life. In today’s video blog, I talk about the lessons I learned, my fitness plan, eating plan, supplementation and everything else that came along with the 100 day challenge.
The 100 day challenge was originally inspired by my desire to finally achieve one of my lifelong dreams and to eat completely clean for 100 days. What I soon found out was it would become so much more than a fitness goal. I learned the importance of appreciating my food, taking care of my body, and soon…my dreams began to flourish.
Hope you enjoy!

Dream Body Workout | 100 Day Challenge [Explanation]
Recently, I spent the past 100 days committed to eating clean and training hard in order to make moves towards trying to get my dream body. After losing 30 lbs and shedding 12% of my body fat, I thought I would share my program and what I did to make it happen.
There was a combination of heavy lifting, high reps lifting, double days, lots and lots of cardio and ab work and lastly maintaining great nutrition that I had learned from mentors and bodybuilders throughout the years.
This video is more of a structural video and will give you an idea about what the regimen consisted of and its moving parts and pieces. I will put out another video with specific workouts I enjoy for building body parts etc.

This Feeling Inside Of Me
It’s a strange feeling. This feeling that I have inside of me. It’s this feeling that something bigger than my body needs to be unleashed. Maybe it’s my soul. Maybe it’s something even greater than that. But there’s this feeling. This feeling that I have to continue to make sacrifices…not add things into my life. It’s the feeling of a beast within. Not something that’s negative, but somethings that’s very very positive. A beast of light if you will.
Last week I talked about how quiet and lonely things were getting. But then I was reminded of this poem. Please read it. It will change the way you look at a lot of things.
WHEN NATURE WANTS A MAN
By Angela Morgan
When Nature wants to drill a man,
And thrill a man,
And skill a man.
When Nature wants to mould a man
To play the noblest part;
When she yearns with all her heart
To create so great and bold a man
That all the world shall praise –
Watch her method, watch her ways!
How she ruthlessly perfects
Whom she royally elects;
How she hammers him and hurts him,
And with mighty blows converts him
Into trial shapes of clay which only Nature understands
While his tortured heart is crying and he lifts beseeching hands!
How she bends, but never breaks,
When his good she undertakes. . . .
How she uses whom she chooses
And with every purpose fuses him,
By every art induces him
To try his splendour out –
Nature knows what she’s about.
When Nature wants to take a man,
And shake a man,
And wake a man;
When Nature wants to make a man
To do the Future’s will;
When she tries with all her skill
And she yearns with all her soul
To create him large and whole . . .
With what cunning she prepares him!
How she goads and never spares him,
How she whets him, and she frets him,
And in poverty begets him . . .
How she often disappoints
Whom she sacredly anoints,
With what wisdom she will hide him,
Never minding what betide him
Though his genius sob with slighting and his pride may not forget!
Bids him struggle harder yet.
Makes him lonely
So that only
God’s high messages shall reach him,
So that she may surely teach him
What the Hierarchy planned.
Though he may not understand,
Gives him passions to command.
How remorselessly she spurs him
With terrific ardour stirs him
When she poignantly prefers him
When Nature wants to name a man
And fame a man
And tame a man;
When Nature wants to shame a man
To do his heavenly best . . .
When she tries the highest test
That she reckoning may bring
When she wants a god or king!
How she reins him and restrains him
So his body scarce contains him
While she fires him
And inspires him!
Keeps him yearning, ever burning for a tantalizing goal –
Lures and lacerates his soul.
Sets a challenge for his spirit,
Draws it higher when he’s near it
Makes a jungle, that he clear it;
Makes a desert that he fear it
And subdue it if he can –
So doth Nature make a man.
Then, to test his spirit’s wrath
Hurls a mountain in his path
Puts a bitter choice before him
And relentlessly stands o’er him.
“Climb, or perish I” so she says. . . .
Watch her purpose, watch her ways!
Nature’s plan is wondrous kind
Could we understand her mind . . .
Fools are they who call her blind.
When his feet are torn and bleeding
Yet his spirit mounts unheeding,
All his higher powers speeding,
Blazing newer paths and fine;
When the force that is Divine
Leaps to challenge every failure and his ardour still is sweet
And love and hope are burning in the presence of defeat . . .
Lo, the crisis! Lo, the shout
That must call the leader out.
When the people need salvation
Doth he come to lead the nation. . . .
Then doth Nature show her plan
When the world has found – a MAN!
The nights are quiet. The days are quiet too. I find it at first uncomfortable, but I have grown to love the silence. In the silence I hear the voice – the one directing my path. I hear the ideas and the chattering telling me to more forward in such a way. It is uncomfortable for a while, but then, when all the dust settles, I find my nerve again.
The moral of the story tonight is that you have to trust in the process. Only a few are daring enough to head into the abyss and try to create what is theirs. It comes with rough waters – waters that will test you beyond your wildest dreams.
For me, I am the captain of a ship that has sailed a few times, but has never gone on the grandest of adventures – the one that I know I need to take. There’s no preparing for what is ahead except knowing that you have the strength in your back to take on what confronts you.
Tomorrow, we cast off.

Motivation Outlast The Pain

Video Description:
I just finished my first 100 days straight of eating clean and working my ass off in the gym, have lost 30 lbs, and have about a million things to say about the journey itself – but the number one lesson I learned was this…
Outlast the pain.
That’s right. Even though it gets harder and harder as the weeks go on, not just in the gym but in life, you have to outlast the pain.
I found that the best results I have gotten came right after I had barreled through a barrier or obstacle in a relentless pursuit of my goal. When you focus on the end result instead of the short-term pain, you can accomplish almost anything.
Sacrifice today for tomorrow.
Hope you enjoy this.

You have to face your problems head on or you will never see the light of your dream. It’s only when we clean up our past that we give ourselves the ability to live fully in the present.
Problems can be scary, but if you face them head on you will always have the pride you gained from the experience in your back pocket. There’s no way to live free unless you do the hard work first.

Relationships Reality Vs. Expectations

The thing is, there are fundamentally three different types of people that are going to be in your life. The people who believe in you down to your core, those who are for you, and those who are against what you are against.
A long time ago I head an amazing speech by T.D. Jakes and he gave me some awesome perspective on what it means to have relationships in this life. That speech changed my view on people and I have been forever changed for the better because of it.
Not everyone is going to stay around, if you realize that there is a gap between your expectations and what your relationships are actually producing, then you need to change your view. My expectations were that people were always going to stick around. That’s the farthest thing from the truth.
People come in and out of your life almost cyclically, and we just have to adapt and adjust as we go.
Hope you enjoy this.
