The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy
By Douglas Adams

I’ve had this book on the shelf for probably 20 years, when my uncle loaned it to me. Well, I finally got around to it.
I had only a passing understanding that it was part of series, and if I didn’t know that, I’d probably have found the end really anticlimactic. I just wonder when I will get around to reading the rest of the books. I’m really good at reading the first book in a series and moving on to something else. I read for variety so living in one world in a long stretch...
Don Quixote: All-Time Overrated Book?
By Miguel de Cervantes
Don Quixote is often named as one of the greatest books ever written. It shows up on almost every list about literature and is often called out by people in interviews as one of their favorite books. The funny thing about these interviews is that the peoplesaying these thingsoften admit that they've never actually finished the book and those that say that they have, admit it was a condensed version. Now,I’m not criticizing them. Infact I’ve only read 100 pages of Proust’...

Lean into the Writer’s Block
It’s been a while since I’ve written anything in this blogabout writing. Today, I’m compelled to tacklewriter’s block. It’s something that I’ve been struggling with lately and I think that I’ve found a way for you to use it to your advantage (at least a way that works for me.)
There are two kinds of writer’s block. The first there is theproblem of logic; something in your story that you have to reason out. The human brain is,at it a basic level, alogic machine. It likes things resolved, so the...

Doodle crazy day
I doodled a lot today. I should do this every day. I'm really starting to enjoy using the Pentel pocket brush. There's a lot of the skill required to master it but the capabilities are very apparent.

Tyrion
I'm really a big fan of continuos line drawings, especially when the results are as badass as everything Wendy McNaughton does. As a way of practicing the technique, I grabbed my Tyroin Lannister figure and drew him. The result looks nothing like the amazing Peter Dinklage but it's not a bad alternate version of Tyrion--perhaps a little fatter from the years of wine and excess.
I mention how anxious I am for this season of Game of Thrones?

SCUBA scribble
Started this out with a scribble that turned into some weird crustacean and then another scribble became a big schnoz. I tried some watercolors on this pulpy sketch paper and it wasn't a bad overall out come. Different than most things I would think of so I would say that the scribble exercise is useful for getting out of your box.

Doodling at the dentist
Every day is filled with little moments that we occupy with our phones. I'm learning to keep the phone in my pocket and to pull out paper. I'm learning to keep my head quite and to notice the walls.
