My Diablo III character and I have something to say about #GamerGate
If you don’t know about GamerGate, I’m jealous. You should either stop reading this right now to preserve your innocence OR you should go here and hereto read about the horrific, disgusting, and terrifying shit going down in the gamersphere because a woman dared to criticize video games while calling herself a feminist. If you’re a real sucker for punishment and love to watch the world burn, look up the Twitter hashtag.
Essentially, it’s about assholes who want women out of their sandbox becau...

The countdown continues! T-minus 14 days until The Sword of Soulsarrives, and we’re still celebrating (and not panicking at all, nuh-uh, not me, can’t prove it)!
This week’s teaseyfungoodnessmixes the past and future. If you were around last year when we raised $2,500 forCora Riley, you may remember that one of the perks was that I’d base a character on you forthe next book. To my intense and lasting surprise, two people went for it!
What you see today, then, is the fulfillment of that perk. Not...

It’s rough being a Japanese vampire! Julie Hutchings talks “Running Away”
Y’all, I meet a lot of cool people on the internet. And one of the coolest, most instantly adorablewriters I’ve glommed onto this year is Julie Hutchings, who writes rad new adult paranormal novels, edits other people’s books, and LIKES TO TALK IN ALL CAPS ON TWITTER. Which of course I love.
And today, Julie has a brand-new book out! *throws confetti* And I get to interview her about it! *throws streamers*

Be a Good Dog: Eddy Webb talks about the Pugmire RPG
Now, I know what you’re thinking. “Pugsin Game of Thronesoutfits?”
Yes! Dogs with swords!
Today, I’m interviewinggame designer, short fiction writer, Sherlockian, and all-around cool guy, Eddy “with a Y” Webb. At this year’s GenCon, he announced that he’ll be working with Onyx Path Publishing to create a new roleplaying game entirely populated by domestic animals.
Dogs and cats, living together – mass hysteria! It’s going to be totally awesome, and I can’t wait to beta test it (hinthint).
But you...

That one time I made fun of HERCULES and got tweeted by one of its stars
After last night’s heavy post (which I’m humbled to see has been received incredibly well – thank you guys so much), I thought perhaps we could all use a palate cleanser.
A bit of backstory: My friend Sunil Patel, author and playwright extraordinaire, is tooling around Paris for a couple of days on his way to LonCon3, and his Twitter stream is quite the hilarious record of his adventures. You should follow him.
Yesterday afternoon, he shared this:
Heehee! I was all like, “I GET IT!” (If you don’...

Depression lies: Robin Williams, the tyranny of silence, and asking for help
Robin Williams passed away tonight. One of the greatest comedians of our time took his own life to end his battle with depression. Itwas a known factor, but he seemed to have it in hand. He’d been clean and sober for 20+ years. He’d signed newmovie deals, and Night at the Museum 3 is out soon. He’d even checked into a facility in July, saying he hadn’t fallen off the wagon but was worried his mental state would take him there.
It wasn’t enough. There were still demons that visited him in the ni...

Why “Guardians of the Galaxy” is my new favorite Marvel movie
I didn’t want to buy into all the hype about Guardians of the Galaxy.Love for it has been onevery inch of the internet, butthe last time I let myself get worked up about OMG THIS IS THE BEST MOVIE EVER, it was Finding Nemo, and I was seriously let down. (Awaits hate mail.) Plus, in this era of movies, I’ve becomethe sort of person who reuses towatch trailers because they basically show youthe whole movie.
But HOLY CRAP this movie is every bit as rad-tacular asI heard it is. And more. It’s ever...
