My Review:
Freakn' Cougar is another of Eve Langlais' goodies! It's fun, exciting, unpredictable and entertaining to the very end. Definitely a story all Eve fans and many fans of the genre will enjoy their time spent with :)

Stu is your everyday, run of the mill geek who is also a shifter. He's not very...experienced in the ladies department. He actually has a very hard time with saying or doing anything right in the presence of a good looking female. That's until he meets Patricia...

Patricia is all about work. She lost her one true mate some time back and has not allowed herself to find another. Now, she's all business. No ifs, ands or buts about it. Well that's mostly. Meeting Stu and Ricky changes many things for her. Many she's not willing to explore. Or is she?

Ricky is a bad boy made good. He's turned over a new leaf and plans to keep it that way. He has no room for nonsense in his life. Even more so when he meets Stu and Patricia. Finding out Patricia is not only his mate but also Stu's. Just does not cut it for him. Unacceptable is what it is, nuff said!

I've read all but one of the Freakn' Shifter series and enjoyed each and every single one. I look forward to what the author will bring us next!

Excerpt 1

James gripped Addison’s hand and stared at her.

“I like your eyes—they’re like Christmas trees, all green and shit.”

The random and awkward comment forced a giggle and a snort from Addison. She had never heard anyone be so awkward and off-kilter when trying to hook-up with someone against an alley wall. Not that she made a habit of being seduced in alleys, but she wasn’t going to say no this time around.

Addison watched as they left and listened in on their conversation, her mind a bug on the wall through James’ eyes. The room James and Max entered contained rows and rows of bunk beds. James breathed heavily. She glanced around the door and peeked at the woman that quickly became the bane of her existence.

“J, what is it?”

Addison felt the tension rise from James’ toes to her stomach, gurgling with anger as she tried to tamp it down. James started to pace back and forth through the room, working off her nervous energy. She needed to put it somewhere, because if she bottled it up, she might explode. Exploding on her new boss would not be ideal, in any situation. Her steps quickened, and she nibbled on her lip until she tasted blood.

Excerpt 3

“Ready?”

“Yes.”

“Okay, here we go.”

She nodded sharply and closed her eyes. Addison focused only on the memory that she wanted to share with him. Bringing down all of her other barriers, she breathed deeply. She listened for the sound of her mother’s voice. The familiar timber always hit her first: deep and gravelly. She’d smoked one too many cigars in the sixties.

“Addison! Addy-girl! I’m talking to you.”

Excerpt 4

They only took one engine. James and Addison rode in what Addison assumed was a truck for her own personal use. It said “Battalion Chief—Station Seven” on the side, emblazoned in black against the gray color of the paint. They arrived just behind the engine at the small elementary school playground, three blocks from their station, which is why they arrived before any of the paramedics did. Addison stepped out of the truck, grabbing the clipboard James had given her. The three people in the fire engine took their time exiting. A broken arm didn’t constitute a great emergency, even though they could hear the wails from the other side of the playground.

Excerpt 5

She leaned heavily against the couch and let out a deep sigh. She was done for the night. Her mind on overload, her body tired, she couldn’t handle anymore numbers. Her eyes said it all to James when she glanced over to the woman who took another long sip from her beer.

“Just so you know,” Addison began, not sure if she really wanted to finish. “I don’t want to like you either.”



Adrian J. Smith, or “AJ” as she is often called, is a part-time writer with an epic imagination, sharp wit, and kind heart that gets her into a bit of trouble when it comes to taking in all the neighborhood stray cats. Being obsessed with science fiction, Smith often goes off on tangents about the space-time continuum. She is also a part-time lunatic with a secretive past. It’s been rumored that she was once a spy for the government, but anyone who has gotten close enough to know the truth has never lived to tell the tale. When traveling around the world on various classified tasks, Smith requires the following be provided: buffalo jerky, mimosas, and eighty-six pennies. This is all we know about the reclusive woman.

#WedBriefs It's All in the Tips #6

Happy Hump Day and welcome to Wednesday Briefs Flash Fiction! As usual, I was given various options to inspire this weeks brief. I chose to go with the 3 photos included below and the following word prompts: "have a character crying" use "claws"

[image error] I’m glad Sera finally got the picture and left. I’m so tired of that female trying to get her claws in me. Sick of it to be honest. She always pops up at the worst times, which is all of the time. She’s currently the only individual in existence that can piss me off so quickly with her persistence. Normally I respect a person that never gives up, not in this case. There’s something about her, a negative, unattractive vibe that crawls on my flesh when she’s near. I take it as a warning to stay clear. My gut is normally a reliable source.
                Don’t get me wrong. I’ll always help her when she needs it. She’s part of the clan after all. Has been for the last year and never once has she gotten a rise out of me. She’s more like a bucket of icy cold water than anything else.
                From what I know, myself, Tex, Jonathan and two others in our clan are the only ones she’s not fucked in one way or another. She needs to find a mate and settle down with some cubs. That’ll straighten her out real quick!
                I can’t help but wonder if the beauty, Renee knows about her two friends, how they’re both different. Witch is the vibe I get off of them. There’s a bit more to each of them then beats the eye, hidden beneath some incredible power. Power I don’t have the means of fully identifying or breaking through. [image error]                 I know the only way I’d find out for sure is if I get up close and personal or possibly get thorough background checks done. I bet they are mixed with animal genes like many in my clan. A proverbial box of animal crackers is what it is! I wouldn’t have it any other way. Keeps things very…interesting.
                 I’ll just wait for now. Tex and Marcia, I learned just a few hours ago, have been seeing one another for a couple of weeks. He visits her on a regular basis. I’m sure he could tell me more about her if I asked him, nicely.
                There’s also Jonathan and Darla. He’s been eyeing her for over a year now. It’s no secret to me or Tex. He talks about her all the time and has yet to make his move on her. I doubt he would know any more than I currently do about any of these females since the only words he’s spoken to her have been to order drinks of hot wings. Poor guy. I hope things change for him soon. He’s not had a female since he first saw Darla. Being a male myself. I know it’s hard to ignore scratching the itch. That’s unless you’ve met your life mate.
                In that case no one will ever be able to rev you up again. Only your mate. It’s said you don’t realize what’s happened until it’s too late. Your soul has already claimed its mate and will not accept another, ever. When this happens the individual must make claim or live a truly lonely life. Dying alone, never knowing love.
                Looking the way of the female duo right now, Darla is crying and speaking angrily with Marcia. Marcia looks guilty about whatever is being said. But quickly smiles when Darla says something about cinnamon buns.                Shifter hearing is both a blessing and a curse. I’ve experienced them both throughout life. The most memorable blessings so far are hearing about attack plans from those not of my clan, our enemies. Or those that wish to bring harm to any under my protection. It’s helped us to be prepared and in some cases avoid sneak attacks and loss of lives. [image error]                 The curse part of it is when I heard my parents discussing about abandoning me and eventually hearing others speak about not wanting me either. I was very young then, but I have a decent memory. I think it’s too good to be honest. Even if I want to I can’t let go of those sad memories. No matter how hard I try, they linger and haunt.
                My thoughts are idyllically interrupted by a magical sound, music. I know the melody I hear is not drifting through the speakers. It’s too crisp and alive to be a cd, tape or record. I had no idea there was a piano here.  Not in a place like this. Then again who am I to make judgment on anything?
                I feel such tender emotion flowing through the notes it causes my gut to clench tightly along with my heart. It’s almost as if whoever is playing was just in my head and heart. Feeling what I felt when my parents abandoned me. It hurt, bad but is slowly fading away as each note is played.
                I look around needing to know who it is playing such an emotional and magical piece but I can’t find who or where. My eyes are not reaching every corner of the place. So I get off of the bar stool and take a step away from the bar to look around a bit more.                 Taking a few more steps I see an old fashioned piano and the back of a female, the female I came here for. Renee, the female which calls to me without words and now involuntarily owns a freely given piece of my heart that I know will never be mine again. A feat which no one has ever accomplished…until now!

Unexpected is short, sexy, thrilling and a good start to a new series. A great read for any fans of the genre looking for a fast paced fun read...
Blair is just living life, mechanically. She works, sleeps, and eats, whatever she needs to do to survive. Once and awhile she needs to...feel. She also needs to release some of her pent up energy. What better way to do that than to go out and have a one night stand?

West is getting his life in order, back on track, finally. He allowed the rock star life to consume him completely. Not any longer! Now he's going to do everything the right way. Well maybe not EVERYTHING...

Awesome characters, addictive story line, nuff said. I'm really looking forward to what's to come next :)

My Review:

Strike is an original, fun, thrilling and addictive read that many fans of the genre will definitely enjoy! Even those readers out there that are NOT sports fans will appreciate the innuendos, sports references, Holly Roberts all around great sense of humor and her writing style. Now I have to go back and read Play :)
Jaycee has it tough. She's a young woman that's never really had the chance to be a kid and enjoy the small things many children/teens enjoy. She hat to put on her woman gear and take care of her younger brother and sister. She's done great in all ways! Well that's until she makes a poor decision that just happens to land her into the dreamy life of Reed...
Reed, WOW! This man is a panty wetting dream boat that any woman would keep as a BBF (book boyfriend) for a very long time! He has a heart of platinum and is REAL. No sugar coating from him, nope! His alpha ways are the icing on the cake. Yea, he can be a little cocky at times. But I would be too if I was a hot and successful alpha male.

This is the second book in the Completion series but written as a stand-alone read. I look forward to what this author has in store for us next!
