Blog Tour Stop and Giveaway: Kissing Fire by A. M. Hargrove
Welcome to our stop on the
Kissing Fire
blog tour
Release date: April 15, 2013
Age Group: Adult
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Tour organized by: AToMR Tours
Preston Mitchell’s life as an undercover DEA agent has never allowed him to have a normal life. He’s never considered a relationship with a woman until he meets Avery Middleton. To an outsider, Avery has it all...wealth, family connections and a great job. But things aren’t so great on the inside. She decides to take a chance and make a new start three thousand miles from home and steps right into the arms of hot and sexy Preston.Unfortunately for both of them, Avery ends up being in the wrong place at the wrong time and is now running for her life. Fortunately, she has a gorgeous DEA agent protecting her. In the midst of all the chaos, they find themselves irresistibly drawn to each other. But Preston carries more than his share of mental baggage, courtesy of his job. Even so, Avery rocks Preston’s world because she is nothing like anyone he’s ever met and something extraordinary begins to happen between them. But can their love survive in this world, where danger, intrigue and deception lurk on every corner?
First I want to start by saying that Anne is freaking hysterical. I laughed out loud at some of the antics and dialogue throughout the book. Second thank you so much for writing a story about a girl that's not a flippin pencil! I like to read about real woman that get the hot, muscled and successful man. So thank you Anne!!
Okay, so I've already established that Avery is normal, (let the choir sing) but she's also a bit quirky and has some 'normal' ways about her. She talks too fast when she's nervous, drops food on her clothes, (like I do) and she is very self-consious about her weight. Hey, we could be talking about me here. I may have identified with the lead a little too much. But that's a good thing, right? I like Avery, and thank you for writing a character that could be so much like me! Lol
If you've read the first two books you'll know immediately what's going on, if not like I hadn't, it wasn't a problem. It gives you enough back story to the last book that there's no confusion.
Preston has some demons from some of his past undercover work that keeps him from getting close to the right woman. Something ignites in him when he meets Avery and he undoubtedly ends up having to place her in protective custody with him. The more time is spent with each other, the easier it gets for Preston to let his guard down and the more passion ignites. And honey there is passion!
I don't want to give any spoilers away, I don't do that! If you want a fun, sweet and laugh out loud read then this is for you! We have a hot musceled man that's hot for the 'normal' girl, a boisterous best friend that will put tears in your eyes from her shenanigans and a sweet love story that will have you aching to be in Avery's place.
Great read by A.M. Hargrove!!
4 out of 5 stars from me
One day, on her way home from work as a sales manager, A. M. Hargrove, realized her life was on fast forward and if she didn't do something soon, it would quickly be too late to write that work of fiction she had been dreaming of her whole life. So, she rolled down the passenger window of her fabulous (not) company car and tossed out her leather briefcase. Luckily, the pedestrian in the direct line of fire was a dodgeball pro and had über quick reflexes enabling him to avoid getting bashed in the head. Feeling a tad guilty about the near miss, A. M. made a speedy turn down a deserted side street before tossing her crummy, outdated piece-of-you-know-what lap top out the window. She breathed a liberating sigh of relief, picked up her cell phone and hit #4 on her speed dial.
So began A. M. Hargrove's career as a YA/NA and Adult Romance writer! Her books include Kissing Fire, Edge of Disaster, Shattered Edge, the series the Guardians of Vesturon (Survival, Resurrection, Determinant, Beginnings and the upcoming reEmergent) and Dark Waltz.

Boss: Hello
A.M.: Boss, is that you?
Boss: Why yes, A. M., who else would be answering my phone?
A.M.: Er... right. Well, I'm calling to let you know you can pick up my luxury Ford Focus at Starbucks near the interstate.
Boss: Why ever would I want to do that?
A.M.: Because I quit!
A.M. hit the end button and speed dialled her husband.
A.M.: Hi hubs, can you pick me up at Starbucks?
Hubs: Sure... Having some car trouble?
A.M.: Not at all. I don't have a car to have trouble with because I just quit my job.
Hubs: WHAT?!
A.M.: It's time for a new career and I am going to be a very famous novelist.

Cover Update: Sweet Thing by Renee Carlino
Tami has not made any secret of the fact that Sweet Thing is one of her favourite books for the year so far and it's had a little face lift that we'd love to share with you. Despite both being coffee lovers and both loving the original cover, we think this one is definitely gorgeous!!

Sometimes you read a book that touches something in you and leaves a lasting mark. Sweet Thing was one of those books for me. It's been a while since a book moved me to tears or had me walking away from my Kindle in frustration. Sweet Thing did both of those things. Sweet Thing is Mia's story. Mia was so incredibly 'together' and yet so startingly confused that I was torn between loving and hating her. She frustrated me, she inspired me and ultimately she won me over as she struggled to understand her true place in the world. A talented musician with a business degree, Mia moves to New York following her father's sudden death. Her plan is to run his cafe for a while until she figures out how to put her business degree to good use and give her life some purpose and direction. On the flight to New York Mia meets Will Ryan - a handsome and talented musician with a loving and spontaneous nature - like Mia's father in so many ways. I have to say right now that Will was amazing. His passion for music, his belief in himself and the people he loved, his tolerance of Mia as she struggled with her feelings for him were all just beautiful. As Mia grieves "Pops" loss, she struggles to uncover who she is and what she wants from life and love. Her pain, confusion and frustration were so vividly depicted by Carlino that my heart hurt for Mia. I alternated between wanting to take her and shake her until her head rattled or wrap her in one of those make the world stop hurting hugs. Her journey is intense, sad and yet uplifting as she learns to trust her heart. The group of friends that surround Mia are a wonderful mix of just what she needs: eccentric, talented, supportive, confronting ... I could go on but I think you get the picture. Collectively they watch as Mia grieves and they intervene when she needs them most. There are words of wisdom from Martha in particular that are thought provoking and inspiring.
you have to teach your heart and mind how to sing together ... then you'll hear the sound of your soul. From the outset Mia seems set on a life that doesn't embrace her creativity and musical talent. There is no doubt that her parents failed marriage and the distinct differences between her mother and father have influenced her perspective on how to have a 'successful' life, but it is astonishing that she so completely discounts what is a significant part of who she is and it is this that presents the most challenging internal conflict for Mia. Martha (again) provides food for thought as Mia grapples with life:
You are your mother and your father. You are your experiences and your fears and the love you let yourself feel. You are your degree and your talent and your passion. You are your pain, your joy and your fantasies. You are me and Sheil and Jenny and Will and every person that touches your soul ... but most of all you are you, whoever you dream that to be.Her connection with Will is unquestionable, and yet Mia does question it constantly. As he begins to find his own place in the music world Mia fears that his success will take him away from her and shatter her heart all over again.Sweet Thing was almost painful - Mia's journey was slow and sometimes I was frustrated with her indecision and inability to take that leap of faith, but really, it couldn't be any other way. Will was passionate, patient and forgiving, but still managed to maintain his integrity and strength. Together, their journey was authentic, inspiring and I absolutely loved Sweet Thing.

New Adult Contemporary Romance: Due to strong language, drug use, and sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.

Chapter 16 - Claire's POV
The buzzing noise breaks me out of my trance and it takes a moment before I realize it’s my phone vibrating on my nightstand. I reach for the phone and see I have four missed calls. I must have been really out of it this time. Until now, I hadn’t meditated since yesterday morning. All the missed calls are from an unknown number with a Raleigh area code. I debate ignoring the calls to continue my meditation, but the number of missed calls gives me an uneasy feeling. “Who is it?” Senia asks from where she’s lying on her bed studying for a biochem exam.I shrug then call the number. Someone picks up right away.“Claire?”It’s Jackie and she sounds frantic.“Jackie? What’s wrong?”“Oh, my Lord. I left my phone at the shop. I’ve been calling you from Rachel’s phone. I didn’t think you would ever call back.”“Jackie, what’s happened?”“Claire, honey, I’m at the hospital. Chris had an accident.”“An accident? What kind of accident?” My heart pounds as that uneasy feeling transforms into panic.“Who had an accident?” Senia whispers.“On his bike,” Jackie replies. “We’re at WakeMed.”Just hearing the word WakeMed makes me want to vomit. I haven’t been there since I had Abigail five months ago. Jackie doesn’t know anything about Abigail.“Claire? Are you still there?”“Yes. I’m here. I’ll… I’ll be there in an hour.”I’m shaking so hard as I pull on a pair of jeans and a clean shirt. Senia grabs my hand as I reach for my car keys on the nightstand. “I’ll drive.”“Drive fast, please.”The whole forty-minute drive there, I keep imagining all the worst scenarios: he’s missing a leg, he’s in a coma, he’s on life support… or worse. Senia attempts to distract me with music, but I can’t stop my mind from wandering to the darkest places. She drops me off in front of the emergency entrance then sets off to find parking. I stand outside the sliding doors under the red emergency sign for a moment, unable to move. This is exactly how it happened when I went into labor.“Are you in labor?” the nurse with the blue cardigan and the straw-colored hair asks.“Yes. Please put me in a room. Now, please.”I’m more afraid of running into someone I know than anything else. I just want to get into a delivery room where no one but the doctors and nurses, and Senia, will see me.“We’ll get you into a room right now, sweetie.”Another nurse comes up behind me with a wheelchair and I’m hit with another contraction right as I sit down. It’s the worst pain I’ve ever felt and I’ve been suffering through it for the last three hours in Senia’s bedroom while waiting for the contractions to come less than four minutes apart. It’s 2:30 a.m. now and I can hardly keep my eyes open. My eyes roll back in my head and I feel as if I might actually die from the pain.I’d rather be dead than be here right now. Finally, the nurse wheels me away and it feels like it takes an hour before she finally arrives at the Women’s Pavilion. They set me up in a spacious room and hook me up to a zillion monitors. Every beat of my baby’s heart is like a hammer driven into my heart, breaking it into a million pieces. I finally ask the nurse to lower the volume on the heart rate monitor and she does it, but not without a judgmental scowl.“Have you decided on any names?” another dark-haired nurse asks, putting on some gloves as she gets ready to probe my cervix for the third time since I arrived. Senia throws her a look of disgust before she pulls the nurse outside. I don’t know what Senia says to her, but the dark-haired nurse, Sybil, is overly nice for the rest of my two-night stay. The entire staff is overly nice after that. Sybil must have shared the news about the adoption with everybody. But their kindness doesn’t soothe my anxiety or my guilt. I almost wish they would tell me what an awful person I am. Just confirm what I know they’re all thinking about me. She’s just a stupid college student who got knocked up by having unprotected sex with some guy who probably wants nothing more to do with her.If they knew the truth, if they knew that I kept this whole pregnancy a secret from Chris, they wouldn’t be this nice to me.“Claire?”Senia places her hand on my back and leads me toward the emergency entrance. The doors whisper accusations as they slide open. Unfit. They slide shut behind me. Liar.“It’s okay,” Senia whispers. “Nobody knows what happened. That’s between you and Chris.”Chris. Oh, God. Where is he?

I liked Claire's character, she is a strong woman trying to do better in life than her mother did. Her mother was raped by the man who is her father. Although Claire has never met him he leaves her a trust fund. Pissed off, she doesn't want to use the money or know anything about him. Her mother died when she was young and she was put in foster home after foster home until she found a real home with Chris and his mother (who takes in foster kids), who always treated Claire like a daughter. Chris and Claire fell in love and thought they would have a happily ever after. Chris is a rock star and has other goals and ambitions that don't always include CLaire. Claire has to make some tough decisions in her life that could very well kill her. Adam happens a year later. Adam is my favorite (I would choose him over Chris). He saves Claire from a life of sadness and makes her smile again but Adam comes with baggage as well. I loved the relationship between Adam and Claire. It seemed less selfish than hers with Chris (from both sides) and Adam, even though they have issues in their relationship, after a while he just seems to put Claire first, or tries to. This book had a lot of ups and downs and tears upon tears, very emotional (in a good way).
One complaint is the end, we'll have to wait for book 2 to finalize these issues, can't wait. I would recommend this book. 4 stars.

We’d both gone missing at one point, but Claire had one thing I didn’t. Someone to notice. So why was I the one still here and she the one still gone?
Nineteen year old Megan Smith has spent the past year working in a small town diner in the middle of nowhere. Life is quiet, simple, safe. Then comes the news that her look-a-like has gone missing. Claire.Still damaged both physically and mentally, Megan's not looking to be noticed. Wherever she goes from here, it's a road she needs to take alone. But when Nickolas Ellis takes the job as the new nightshift cook, it scares her how easily her defenses crumble down, down, down for him. But there are secrets she can't bear to share with just anyone, unspeakable acts that continue to haunt, and when the similarities of Claire’s abduction couples with the fear of an unwanted visitor in town, the urge to run before it all happens again intensifies, threatening the only happiness Megan's ever found.New Adult Romantic Suspense / Realistic FictionRecommended for 17+ for mature and disturbing situations, language and sexual content.
When I turned off the side road and headed down Main Street, I came to an abrupt halt. It was eerily deserted. Cars still filled most of the parallel spots and occasionally one would drive by, but I only saw two people walking hand-in-hand way out in front of me.
I didn’t like walking alone in the dark, even on a night when everyone in town was just a block away, the music and voices still replacing the silence around me.
This isn’t safe.
I turned to look back. How could so many people be in one direction and not the other? My heartbeat increasing with each passing second, I stood there under the yellowish glow of the street lamp. Which was completely stupid. Not only was the light inhibiting my eyes’ ability to scan the darkness efficiently for shadows, I let everyone out there know I was standing here all alone.
Suddenly those port-a-potties were looking a lot better.
Damn it, Megan. Just move. It’s not that far.
I sidestepped three times, holding still while my eyes adjusted. I needed to get it through my thick, paranoid head that I was safe here. Myrtle Creek was safe, way off the radar of everyone.
I could see the diner down the way. We had forgotten to turn off the exterior sign, so it still glowed red and yellow in the night sky, acting like a beacon to guide me on my journey. Alright, journey might have been an overstatement for the short expanse of road. But the distance between here and there was so daunting, I considered it to be an epic journey, because the terror clenching the muscles in my heart made me fear I may never return.
I sucked in a deep breath. I needed to do this. I needed to not be afraid. To prove to myself that I could walk alone in the dark for a quarter of a mile and have nothing bad happen in the process. I needed to take that step and move forward in my life.
One small step to reduce the fear that crippled me at times. One small step closer to being the kind of girl that could date someone like Nick. Someone who wouldn’t unleash a shit load of baggage onto him. I really didn’t want to be this version of Megan anymore. Scared. Paranoid. Haunted.
Exhaling slowly, I took that first step. Then a second and third, until my feet finally gave into rhythm and advanced my trembling body down the path. My eyes continued to worry, shooting left and right and behind at the slightest movement or noise in the vast darkness. Unlike the normal person, I found myself maneuvering around the light, finding safety in the blackest of blacks. As brave of a front as I had put on, I was still terrified to be out by myself, and my feet quickened their pace, yet were light as air against the pavement.
Unfortunately, I had to brave the light to get through the front door. My key already leaving its imprint inside my fisted hand, I quickly turned the lock, ignoring the sounds that seemed to use these precious few seconds to amplify around me, closing in faster and faster. My heart pounded against my ribs, still yelling at my shaking hand for taking three attempts to get the key into its matching groove. I shoved myself through the door and locked it quickly behind me, not caring if I looked the fool to anyone outside. I stepped backwards, allowing myself to blend into the shadows of the dining room, escaping the reaching tendrils of the outside light.
I began to register the familiar sounds in the kitchen behind me: the hums of the coolers and freezers, the buzz of the light by the back door that we always kept on at night, and the gentle whirring of the fan that kept Paul’s hard-drive cool.
I puffed a burst of air past my lips. My heart coming down from its high, the beating began to slow, and I shuffled off towards the bathroom, weaving through the maze of tables with ease. Hell, I knew the room so well I could’ve shut my eyes and danced my way through and never bumped a single thing.
Shaking my head at myself in the mirror, I silently berated my flushed cheeks. It wasn’t the cool night air that gave me that rosy complexion. My reflection also reminded me of the last time I was in here. My fingertips caressed my lips and when I closed my eyes, I could almost feel the pressure of Nick’s mouth on mine, rough yet gentle all at the same time. Hard to believe that was just two hours ago. After that heart-stopping kiss, my crazy grin was so wide I could’ve played back-up for the Joker in Batman.
Bringing myself out of that beautiful La-La Land where Nick’s lips and arms never pulled away, I was half tempted to grab the flashlight under the counter, but again decided I’d rather be stealth in the darkness than draw attention to myself. Even if it meant putting my heart through another marathon and baring flushed cheeks. I gulped down half a glass of water and made my way around the counter, the thought of seeing Nick giving me the courage to face my demons yet again.
I smiled. I could already tell this journey would be easier than the last.
Movement out the corner of my eye locked my feet in place, the weight of my body stuck on my left leg, my right heel caught mid-air. It was like one of those horrible horror films where slow-motion kicked in, just in time to torture you. A man strutted down the sidewalk, a long drag of smoke smoothly rolling past his lips, scattered by the wind that swept it quickly away.
Him.
I’m a mom, wife, a lover and a fighter, coffee addict, wicked knitster, Microbiologist, baker of fine yummy treats, and someone who will fight you to death for that last twinkie bag of M&Ms during the zombie-apocalypse. Seriously, my addiction is that important to me. Oh yeah, and writing is cool too!

Cover Reveal: AnguiSH by Lila Felix
Check out this simply gorgeous cover for
AnguiSH
by one of our absolute favorite authors, Lila Felix
Scheduled for release June 20, 2013
Anguish was the status quo, until she walked in.
Breaker James Collins is confined in a prison of his own making. Scarred doesn’t begin to define his hell since finding out his girlfriend cheated, stole, and lied two years ago. It led to a single event—one that would blacken his days and his nights from then on. Since then, he hasn’t left his house, crippled by fear of people and any social interaction.
Ashland talks too much and has the voice of a meth-laden prairie dog, or so she’s always been told. She’s been called annoying and irritating all of her life and gave up on having friends for a long time. College has given her a new lease on a social life and she’s embraced who she is. But now she’s waiting for the one guy who can take her breath away and put up with her antics.
A simple note pinned to a corkboard will lead Ash right to Breaker’s solitary world and she will learn that just because a guy doesn’t fit her ideal, doesn’t mean she won’t fall head over feet in love.
If that summary has peaked your interest and you'd like to read a small sneak peak, head on over to Lila's website for Chapter 1 by clicking here
I am a stay at home mom from the South and wife to the most giving and hard working husband ever. I love to cook and try out new recipes even if they don't always turn out like I want them to. I refer to my kids lovingly as the Three Stooges as they are constantly coming up with new ways to reek havoc in the house. Most recently that included putting a rubberband on the kitchen sink sprayer so it would douse me when I did the dishes. I love to go to roller derby bouts and read in my spare time. I write mostly at night when the house is silent and I can sneak cookies without having to share! If you're into stalking, try under the Cypress trees in the swamps of Louisiana, but watch out for gators!!

She’s consumed with school, caring for her ailing grandfather, and figuring out how to pay the next bill. The last thing she wants is a relationship, but it just might be the one thing she needs.
Major League pitcher Cole Parker hasn’t fought for anything in his life. He went from a privileged upbringing to a multimillion dollar All-Star career. But when his pitching shoulder starts to give him trouble at only twenty-four years old, he faces the possibility of his injury becoming public knowledge and costing him everything.
In a desperate bid to save his career, Cole decides to hire someone to treat his injury, someone who will keep things off the record and out of the media. He finds the perfect solution in Everly. When an act of betrayal brings the truths they both fear to light, Cole will have to fight for the first time in his life…not just for his career, but for Everly’s love.
Thirty minutes later, she finally arrived at the restaurant. Between traffic and the unfamiliar area of town, it took her longer than she expected to get there. She thought she had given herself extra time, but she was still five minutes late. When she pulled up, she found herself at a valet stand. Rolling down her window, she flagged the valet who eyed her car as though it had just broken down at his feet. He approached with notable reluctance.
Waving at the twenty-dollar valet fee posted on a nearby folding sign, she asked, “Is there self-parking?”
“No, ma’am,” he replied stiffly.
She swallowed and nodded, getting out of her car so he could park it. She only had twenty dollars in cash, and she had intended to pay for her lunch with it. She knew the bank account was low until she got paid again on Friday, but she’d have to risk debiting her meal. Why hadn’t she thought to set some parameters when Cole suggested the restaurant?
Her headache ballooned as she hurried through the front door of the restaurant and looked around without spotting Cole. Frowning, she approached the maître d.
“Miss Wallace?” he greeted her.
Surprised, she nodded.
“Welcome. Mr. Parker is waiting at your table. It would be my pleasure to escort you there. May I take your coat?”
Damn. She probably couldn’t even afford the free bread at this place.
Giving the maître d a wan smile, she shrugged out of her coat, putting her gloves in the pockets and wrapping her scarf around one of her purse straps. She was sure she was imagining it, but she swore the maître d held her Target-brand garment a few inches away from his body as he turned to hand it off to whoever guarded the coat room.
Shifting uncomfortably when he gave her a quick once-over and lingered disapprovingly on her jeans, she took a deep breath and followed him into the dining room. There wasn’t anything she could do about how she was dressed, was there?
Lord, what a hot mess this was.
As she spotted Cole across the dining room at a table with a beautiful view of the outside terrace, another thought occurred to her. How should she greet him? Should she shake his hand since this was a business meeting? Go in for the awkward hug since she was good friends with his brother?
Bow because he looked like a god in his simple black V-neck sweater and gray pants?
She caught his gaze when she was still about ten feet from the table. A variety of expressions crossed his features, so many that she couldn’t read them all. She definitely caught irritation, though, and was puzzled when he ended up smiling.
OhGodOhGodOhGod…
He stood up. The maître d deposited her with a slight bow, so she ruled out that form of greeting. Then it was just her and Cole.
“Hello, Everly,” he said, his voice as smooth as a buttered biscuit.
“Hi.”
Had that been her voice that came out all breathy? She prayed it hadn’t sounded as ridiculous as she thought.
She started to lift her right hand for a shake, then realized he was tilting in for the awkward hug. To avoid hitting him in the crotch, she adjusted her trajectory. He smoothly used his left hand to continue her forward motion so that her hand ended up encircling his neck.
Then before she knew what was happening, her lips were pressed against his.

Book Release: Chase (Resisting Love) by Chantal Fernando and Dawn Martens

Welcome to our stop on the Chase Blog Tour!! We have the pleasure of Chantal and Dawn's company so scroll down and check out our interview with them, along with Tami's review. While you're at it, enter the giveaway at the bottom of the post!

Moving in with a guy you only met once? Stupid.
But for student Layla Crawford, this was reality.
Chase Jackson is a renowned playboy and self professed commitment phobe, that is until he meets Layla.
Blinded by his intensity to have her, Chase will stop at nothing to make her his.
With a jealous ex and old conquests repeatedly making appearances, Chase' s skeletons come out of the closet one by one, each one pushing Layla further and further away.
Layla is determined to keep her distance. Chase now has to convince the only woman he has ever wanted that he is worth the gamble.

Dawn: Chase was really all Chantal’s idea. Personally I see him as two of Kristen Ashley’s men. Tate Jackson and Chase Keaton. I know it’s not what Chantal thought of, but dudes, come on. If you read KA, that’s who you’re gonna think of.
Describe each other in three words
Chantal: Dawn is crazy, honest and VERY giving.
Dawn: Chantal is very sweet, kind, and just simply amazing.
What was your most memorable ‘author’ moment while writing Chase?
Chantal: I’d have to say the first chapter. I wrote it out myself and sent it to Dawn. When she read it she got very excited, and in turn, got me excited.
Dawn: While writing, hmm, when I cried at our own shit. No joke, literally cried.
What are the “must have’s” for you both when you’re writing?
Chantal: To be honest, I just write and let the story flow. I worry about all the other stuff afterwards. The characters end up doing whatever they please, as crazy as that sounds.
Dawn: To take a break if you don’t have anything. No point in writing a piece of shit, may as well wait until an idea comes and go with it.
What would you say was the biggest challenge of co-authoring a book?
Chantal: We don’t always agree on everything. So we have learnt the art of compromise J
Dawn: Compromise, I suck at that, I don’t even do it with hubby, laughs, but with Chantal, she’s amazing, she reigns in my crazy, and I add some crazy to her. It’s great.
Is there another book in the pipeline?
Chantal: Yes we are currently working on Kade. Ryder will get his own book, as will James.
Dawn: Kade is next bitches ;) Nikki is so gonna put him through the ringer, and I already have written out a heart breaking scene for them.. ahh, so good baby. So good.
Ooh I'm looking forward to that!! So who are some of your favourite authors/books?
Chantal: Anything by Kristen Ashley. ANYTHING. I also love J.R Ward and Sherrilyn Kenyon. In fact, my youngest son’s first name is Acheron. I know, I’m a nerd.
Dawn: Everything by Kristen Ashley, that woman, ugh, fuck, she is something. Another favourite is Madeline Sheehan, no one can write fucked up like her.
What would you say is your ultimate guilty pleasure?
Chantal: Hmmm romance novels that lead towards being erotic.
Dawn: Porn. No, I’m serious, porn, Book porn to be precise.
If you were castaway on a remote tropical island what three things would you have to have with you to survive?
Chantal: Well, food and water of course. I’m cheating and using that as one thing, lol. My kindle with a never ending battery and an alpha male to take care of me ;)
Dawn: Kindle, booze, and a vibrator. I could probably scrounge up food and water from the island, so these things would have to be packed away with me if I ever got stranded. ;)
I'm thinking that would be one interesting island to be castaway on! Thanks for the insights girls. Good luck with Chase!

3.5 out of 5 stars
From the outset I need to say that I really enjoyed reading Chase. It was an easy read with some outstanding Alpha male characters that will hit book boyfriend lists aplenty – particularly Kade I think! Chase (Resisting Love #1) is the story of Layla and Chase. Layla is a pretty innocent girl, looking for somewhere to live that is close to University and not close to her parent’s home. Having looked at a number of not so appropriate places she arrives at the last place on her list and cannot believe her luck. The house is gorgeous, as is the guy who shows her around (James) and despite having some reservations about sharing a house with men (two of whom she hasn’t yet met), she takes the room. Flash forward a short while and Layla is hitting it off beautifully (in a brother/sister kind of way) with James and Kade, two of the three men in the house, but she is yet to meet the third. She’s heard exchanges between him and the women he’s brought home, but not actually met him. Layla heads out for a girls night out with best friend Nikki and meets Chase, uber gorgeous and with clear intentions for Layla. Imagine her surprise when she wakes in his bed the next morning ... in the master bedroom of the house she is living in!
Despite enjoying this book I wasn’t really convinced by or connected to Chase – his adoration of Layla seemed instant and it was a little hard to believe that he would be able to quickly change his womanising ways. Some of the back story was clarified later in the book, but it felt a little unreal to start with. I think this affected the way I felt about Chase throughout the story and meant that I didn’t find him or his interactions with Layla that believable. Having said that, he did redeem himself a little bit towards the end of the book – but I was never really cheering for him.Layla on the other hand I loved. She was sassy and held her own in the interactions with Kade and James. Chase dominated her a bit too much for my liking – but that was more about his style than any real weakness in her.
The other characters in the story were fantastic. James, Kade and Nikki particularly. There was enough going on with them that you want to know more – and we’re fortunate because Fernando and Martens are working on Kade and Nikki’s story next, which I will certainly be watching for. Aubrey is the ex from hell – incredibly nasty and manipulative but brings some interesting twists to the story.I enjoyed reading Chase and as I said will be watching for the next book. It was a quick and easy read. The edition I was provided for this review did have a number of typo’s in it, which detracted a little from the story, and is part of the reason for my 3.5 (rather than 4) rating. Despite being part of a series Chase and Layla’s story was wrapped up beautifully, so don’t avoid this for fear of a cliff hanger.

On top of those things, because I don't plan to give them up, I figured it was time to take the leap and write a book. It wouldn't be possible without my girl Chantal!!!
