Hands down this is my favorite quote about love. Shakespeare is a genius of course, but it’s one of my touchstones when I think about what love even is. In a world that goes by so quickly with revolving options for relationships (online dating, speed dating, good ol’ fashion dating), love seems fragile.
What I like about this quote in particular is that the imagery is so desperately strong. Love, real love, doesn’t change and cannot be changed. It is there, has always been there, and will always be there. Though we may not be able to see it or feel it, it is always present, guiding us toward the goal like the North Star to a ship.
I think it’s easy to see Tony as immature and Abby as naive, but ultimately, I think they’re just two ships aiming for the same star. They have rocky waters to navigate and a lot of perspective to gain, but they were always heading for the same spot. Regardless of how they got there, they were guided by love from start to finish. That doesn’t change.

This really struck me as one of the smartest things I’ve ever heard. The basis of most romance stories is that two people discover each other and then somehow entangle their lives (and bodies) together.
The biggest obstacle in most romance novels is that one, or both, of the love interests is fighting some deep-seated issue. In the case of Tony and Abby, this couldn’t be more true. Tony spends a good chunk of time in denial about love. Tony isn’t a stupid guy (ok, maybe a little), he’s just a man so afraid, he can’t even recognize the truth. He can’t accept the love he finds because it doesn’t correlate with who he thinks he is.
The same goes for Abby. Abby is a woman who is deeply courageous in loving a man like Tony, but she’s also dealing with her own sense of herself. How her relationship starts with Tony influences her actions later. It’s not so much Tony, although that’s part of it, but how she feels about herself and her sense of who she has become. She has to deal with some pretty heavy emotional and situational changes. After all that, how can she trust herself?

Part of why I love this quote is that it defines the very foundation of love for me. It’s one thing to have people in your life, particularly romantic lovers, who are devoted to you. It’s quite another thing to feel and express that toward another person.
One of the biggest things I love about Break Meis that it is not immediately obvious why (in the ever-loving hell) Abby would “choose” to love Tony. This seems like the dumbest thing for some. Except that, with Abby, it’s an act of courage, not weakness. On some level, Abby can see the character of the man Tony is and loving him is an act of courage on her part. It’s that shaking step Indiana Jones takes onto the invisible bridge. Courage is fear put in its place long enough to commit to something great.

Love is, possibly, the scariest step on the planet.
Autumn Stark writes Erotic Romance with a sense of humor and a whole lotta steamy fun. Doesn’t mean there aren’t a few whips every now and then, but she’s a sucker for a happy ending. Autumn has been writing in one capacity or another her entire life, but Break Me is her debut novel.

His dark gaze locks with mine, sending a shiver down my back, then he gently lifts my left hand, his thumb rubbing slowly up and down my ring finger. “You need something here…a reminder, perhaps,” he says evenly.

“A reminder?”

“Yes, baby, so you don’t forget who you belong to.” His lips tug into a sad smile.

“Who I belong to…” I repeat, my voice breaking.

“Yes…” he whispers. He glances slowly toward his house and frowns, then his jaw clenches tightly, and his lips press into a hard line before he turns back to me. “Our family is waiting for us. I need you to wipe away everything that happened today.”

I shake my head and let out a cold, hard laugh. “I will never forget what you did to Kevin.” Or what you are doing to that poor girl, locked away at your secret compound.

“That was nothing compared to what I can do…what I will do if you try to leave me again,” he warns, dangerously. His eyes shimmer thickly with sadness and dangerous rage.

I flinch and take a step back. “You have me. You own me. I’m yours to do whatever you want. Just leave Kevin alone.”

I just made a deal with the devil.

It's been a little while since I've read a paranormal novel and I had forgotten just how much I enjoy that genre.  The exposure to a parallel world in which immortal (or other supernatural) beings interact with humans, sometimes without the humans understanding exactly what it is they're dealing with; a reality that just verges on impossible to believe, but also has enough substance to it that you really can't completely discount it - I do love paranormal!!
Gilded Destiny introduced me to the Vespers.  An immortal, vampire like being with a history reaching back to the Garden of Eden.  The Vespers are an interesting 'race' and I found myself wanting to know more about them and their history.  What became apparent was the battle between the expectations of their 'maker' (Levitiqas) and their residual, human morals/beliefs.  While Levitiqas controlled the Vespers with violence, cruelty and by removing their memories, the Vespers, particularly Nycholas, retained enough of themselves to challenge the rules.
Calli is the 'female lead' in Gilded Destiny.  A strong woman, grappling with the aftermath of a serious accident and memory loss associated with that.  She encounters Nycholas one evening and her reality alters significantly.  I liked Calli, although I did think she handled some of the situations she faced a little too stoicly.  She was witness to some rather gruesome events and she managed to keep her composure entirely. While I appreciated in many cases her survival instinct was driving her reactions I did find it a little hard to believe.
Gilded Destiny is described as a novella - around 120 pages, so not long.  While I really enjoyed the pace at which the story moved, there were some sections where I would have liked a little more detail.  Of course not having the information printed on the page didn't stop my mind from wandering and creating my own scenarios!

Stacy Borel currently resides in southeast Texas with her husband and two kids. She grew up as a military brat and has lived everywhere from California, Alaska, Azores Portugal, and Hawaii. She loves traveling and seeing new places, so being a military spouse is perfect for her. Stacy enjoys the adventure of moving every 2-4yrs. It's refreshing to experience a new place.

Stacy is a self proclaimed reading addict and Facebook addict. If she's not doing one of those two things, she can be found writing, or playing with her kids. Some of her hobbies are listening to new music, going fishing, being active outdoors, and she always loves spending time with her out of state family.

Stacy discovered Indie Authors in early 2012 after reading Fifty Shades of Grey, and there began her passionate love affair with books. She always wrote stories and journals growing up, but she decided in December 2012 to really dip her toes in the water with a romance novel. She now has three full length novels under her belt, and a whole new series for the 2014 year.
