How to Help a Friend/Relative by Using Social Media
If you’re reading this, you’re online… at least some of the time.
If you’re online, you most probably have friends or relatives online, some of whom are involved in projects or businesses.
One of the things I hear all the time from people about my latest projects/business ventures is, “Let me know how I can help.”
That phrase, or phrases like it, seem to pop up time and time again. Whether it’s a person you want to help out or an organization or business, there’s something HUGE you can do, FOR F...

3 Rookie Mistakes to Avoid on Your Site
Sometimes the things which should be the easiest and most obvious for us get overlooked, because even the best of us can make rookie mistakes.
Why is it that the plumbing never works at the plumber’s house and the painting never gets done at the painter’s house? And why does the IT guru’s wife’s computer never work?
Somehow the things we are most expert in, particularly if we do them as a profession, are the very things that we do the worst with when it comes to ourselves.
This was highlighted t...

Habits – Blog Carnival
Welcome to the One Word At A Time Blog Carnival. This week’s word is: Habits.
Although this is a ‘One Word’ carnival, we have a theme for the next few weeks and the theme is “Let Go Of…” So every week, we will have a word for the week, but in the backs of our minds, we will be thinking that we should write something about letting go of that word.
My entry is below all of this intro stuff.
Below this, you’ll find a little widget called Simply Linked. All the participants in the carnival add their...

3 Basic Guidelines for Advertising the Right Way
There are many ways to advertise your self/company/service/product some of which work well and some of which don’t.
What measure though should you use of ‘success’? Is cash in the bank more important than sentiment and brand loyalty?
The cash vs reputation argument is as old as the hills. Ever since man discovered you could sell more apples if you forced your slave girls to sell them at the market half naked, sex has been used as a lure to bring dollars, gold, silver and pretty shells into peop...

Being a Writer Means Living in Fear
Someone is going to pay to read this book… I’ve got to do better than this!
Those are the words which went through my head as I read one of the chapters I had just written.
It was a sobering moment.
My sister saw this picture and commented, “You look like there’s a tiger in the room and you’re hoping that if you act like everything’s normal it will go away without eating anyone!”

You Should Have Been at NMX 2013
I’m not just saying that because I was one of the speakers and thus made it fantastic, it was a really, really good event.
The people I met for the first time, the friends I got to see again and the things that I learned all work together to make it an event which not only left me with much to think about, with new contacts to work with, but also with the new appreciation for some of the people in the blog sphere and the surrounding industries. I wish you’d been there...
