Review: A Tale of Oak and Mistletoe

A Tale of Oak and Mistletoe

A Tale of Oak and Mistletoe by E.B. Brown

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I expected this fourth book in the Timewalker series to be every bit as good as the preceding three, and it did not disappoint me.

The story of Maggie and Winn and all the complex relationships that they have across time and blood ties. It is essential that you read this story in its correct sequence as many of the twists and turns of this final episode will confuse you if you don’t.

There are extremes of love and cruelty. There is grief and sadness, and happiness and joy. Close bonds are brutally broken; sometimes to be repaired and sometimes impossible to repair.

There is so much emotion in this book, right up to the very last pages. There are many unexpected twists and turns, but it all makes sense in the end.

The characters are so well painted by the author that I found myself falling in love with them. Occasionally, one of my favorites would be killed off, and I would curse E.B Brown for taking the life of someone I loved. Being a novice author myself, I can imagine how emotionally challenging writing such scenes must have been for her. I’d be willing to bet that she wept as she typed. I certainly wept as I read.

The whole series is terrific and I recommend it to all who read this review. I repeat my advice: read them in order, one to four.

I just love the paperback version. Lulu.com really majored on the quality of it. I am so happy!

Debut novel selling fast!

The Amazon Kindle version of Eleven Miles is up for pre-order to auto download on Tuesday 16th December (my birthday).

The paperback is already available on lulu.com.

Both versions are selling well, so I am delighted.

Half of the proceeds are going to the charity to buy a school bus for the village children in northern Botswana, so that makes me doubly delighted.

Tell all your friends about it. The more sales, the more of that bus we'll be able to buy!

Number One Bestseller!

I posted Eleven Miles on Amazon for pre-order on Tuesday. This morning, when I checked, I was astonished to see this orange tag indicating that it is a number one bestseller!

Admittedly only in "Children's Africa ebooks". But it is incredible, nevertheless!

The launch date is set!

I have just set up Eleven Miles for pre-order in Amazon. The release date is 16th December, which is my birthday: a HUGE day in my life!

This is a big challenge for me, because I still have a chapter and a half to write, and I need at least two revisions.

The Kindle version will be first, and I am hoping that the paperback will be close behind it.

I am excited!

I won the NaNoWriMo challenge yesterday! Over 50,000 words in November, and that was on the 24th!

What makes it even better is that my editor, Boikanyo Phenyo, tells me that there are only a few minor amendments to make, and that she thinks it is brilliant.

Today, I finished chapter 12 of 18. The epilogue is also already written.

I am aiming to publish on my birthday, December the 16th. It will be a big day!

Hope I can make it.

40,107 word into NaNoWriMo!

YAAAAAYYY!!!!!! I have just burst through a major milestone in my NaNoWriMo challenge. I've managed to log over 40,000 words of Eleven Miles in November. So that's less than 10,000 to go to win the challenge. But comparison of my progress against my plot tells me that I am going to need between 60 and 70 thousand words to finish off the story. Still aiming to publish in December though.

Making good progress with Eleven Miles

I am finishing for this evening on 25,936 words. The NaNoWriMo target for today is 21,671. I am loving being this far ahead of schedule!

What is more, Boitumelo has become part of my life, and I am part of hers. I feel her emotions and I get them down on paper. She is starting year two of secondary school, and she is more driven than ever!
