Applying self-pressure

I have signed up for NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month), which is a challenge to write a fifty-thousand word novel during the month of November. My work, so far, counts as research an preparation, so I have a good foundation. By doing this, I am deliberately putting pressure on myself to get on with finishing Eleven Miles.

50,000 words will see me close to the end, so I should be publishing in early December.

I have also taken a free thirty-day trial of Scrivener. It seems like a great aid for writers. There are lots of benefits, but one in particular is going to help me a lot. While I am writing the main body, I am continually flipping into my research files and reference material, spending valuable time trying to find what I am looking for. The split pane allows me to view the relevant reference alongside the main body.

I am going to be more productive, and I am determined to get this book finished!

Eleven Miles is taking shape

Although I am slightly disappointed that I am not going to achieve anywhere near my ambition of completing 80% of the writing of Eleven Miles by the time I return from my holiday tomorrow, I am very excited on another front.
The more that I write, the more I need to write. The story and the characters are really springing to life. The more life they have, the more they need me to write about them. They demand more of me!
All of the chapters have their backbone, and several are complete.
If I work hard, I may be finished by the end of October, but it is more important to take my time and get it right than to meet an arbitrary deadline just for the sake of it. It has to be right before it is published!

Holiday writing

Normally, I'll read about 10 books while I am lazing my time away on a two week holiday. This year I am lucky enough to be enjoying a fabulous time at the Cornelia Deluxe resort in Belek, Turkey. I may read two books, but I am getting my teeth into Eleven Miles .

I hope to be 80% complete by the time I head back to England's soggy, grey shores.

Making progress with Eleven Miles

I am really getting into my writing of Eleven Miles now.

I have completed the first and last chapters, and the epilogue, to a point where they will just need minor revisions before publication.

Some of the chapters in between are almost up to first draft level. Others are just two or three line summaries of what will happen in those chapters.

Who's to say? I may insert some more chapters as I go. It depends what thoughts spring into my tiny mind!

At lest I feel that I am making progress. I'll get there in the end.

Disappointed

I'm feeling a little disappointed.

I convinced myself that hundreds of downloads of When Pleasure Blooms, whether free or paid, would lead to dozens of reviews and ratings.

I'm delighted with the feedback that I've received so far, but I just thought that there might be a bit more.

June begins

I have put my free promotions of When Pleasure Blooms behind me, and have been delighted with the take up and with the feedback that I have received so far.

I really hope that a good proportion of the people who have helped themselves to a free copy will reward me with a review on both Goodreads and Amazon.

So now I can concentrate on writing Eleven Miles , and another very short story (not erotica) which I have buzzing around in my head.

May has been a good month...

.... and it ain't over yet!

225 copies of When Pleasure Blooms have been downloaded from various Amazon sites all over the world. Most have been during the free offer periods but around 20 were paid for.

I'd really love it if a quarter of those would post reviews on Goodreads and Amazon. That might stimulate some real sales growth.

Watch out E.L. James. I'm hot on your heals!

Not long left to get your FREE book!

There are only a few hours left of the free offer of When Pleasure Blooms on Amazon.

I am really happy that I have shifted over 200 free copies of my first book during the month of May.

My great hope is that the majority of those readers will take the trouble to post a review on both Goodreads and Amazon.

Maximum exposure cannot do me any harm!

I am very excited!

I am so excited at the thought that my free offer of When Pleasure Blooms on Sunday and Monday is really going to take off.

I have had a lot of private messages telling me that people are intending to download it, or couldn't wait and they are reading it already. Somebody even told me that it was so HOT that they scorched their fingers whilst reading it!

Tell everybody about the event.
