Anti Social Media

The Problem With Social Media

Last year, I burned out on social media. It wasn’t until sometime in January that I realized it and in February, after live-facebooking the Super Bowl, I quit. Yes, that’s right, I quit social media. I didn’t delete my accounts, I didn’t post a status about quitting social media, I just stopped everything.

It was freeing. I didn’t have to check updates, I didn’t have to post random things about my day, I didn’t even post baby pictures (though I know my wife more th...

New Frontier by Jeremy Lee

When I started writing this review, I knew I wanted to take a different look at things.

So rather than the typical review, I instead present the reality of New Frontier.

Part 1: Science

As every good sci-fi aficionado and practically every nerd in existence knows, science is the key to good sci-fi. When first presented with the “Alcubierre” drive or device (I honestly can’t remember which one was said first) my brain started ticking. This sounded familiar. And it was. The Alcubierre theory is… w...

Open Sesame!

Like something out of Scheherazade, the phrase Open Sesame! has brought various denizens of another world charging into my life… Or more specifically, my living room. I speak, of course, of Sesame Street.

Don’t get me wrong, I wasn’t one of those overly sheltered kids that never ventured over to 123 Sesame St. No, I was quite familiar with Big Bird and Company, so far as even being the proud owner of the book series. (My favorite, which I now have for Phoenix, was the Monster at the end of thi...

My Daughter, the Delinquent

You would think that at three months old, my daughter would still be full of hope and promise. But sadly, not the case. No, my little bitty baby is already on the slippery slope to a life of crime. She hasn’t started knocking over liquor stores, but I fear it’s only a matter or time.

It all started when I made an important discovery. During night feedings, the Little One would let me play on the Xbox. Soon, she even wanted to watch what was going on and was enthralled… By Saints Row.

Dad At-Home

You may have noticed that I haven’t been adding blogs like I used to. If you’re one of those six people in the world, I thank you for still bothering to visit my site.

On the 13th, I became more of a stay at home dad. Wait, what? Yes, more of a stay at home dad. You see, up until that time, my wife and I both worked from home, making things a lot easier on the both of us and potentially spoiling our daughter. Well, my wife started a new, very creative and interesting career, leaving daddy and...

Introverted: Hell Really IS Other People

You know I’ve had a rough day if I’m agreeing with a Frenchman. Just kidding, Frenchies. Your culture gave us great kissing AND great meat. Seriously, have you guys had Chateaubriand? It’s steak that practically melts in your mouth….Hm? What was I saying?

All joking aside, I am an introvert. Not in that quirky ‘I just like my space’ kind of way. I really have trouble dealing with people in the real world… I blame the Internet. ;) Just kidding, Internet. Your culture gave us the best… and worst…...

Baby Brawl Blues

There are things about being a father that are entirely un-manly. One such instance being this little tidbit: My daughter beats me up.

I know, she’s only two and a half MONTHS, how is that possible? I’ll wait for you to stop laughing… Still going, huh? Well, I’m moving on without you then.

It’s been a treat watching Phoenix discovering the world and everything in it. She’s even started to gain control of all those pesky muscles and limbs that she was born with. Of course, she still has the bodi...

2014: Premature Review

Because it was so much easier to review 2013 without having Google correcting me every few details, I figured, why not do a review of 2014 now? So, here it is:

Justin Beiber was forced into retirement after a lawyer in South Texas found that his “joke” about retirement during a radio interview constituted a binding social contract. Justin Beiber refused to honor the contract and is currently serving time in an undisclosed jail.
After Ylvis’ fame died out, he became a mascot for a new initiative...

2013: A Year in Review

Well, with 2013 officially over after today, I thought it might be time to look back at the past 365 days. Rather than doing this with a search engine ablaze, I’m reviewing this year… Without Google! *gasp* I know, right?Hmm, it takes a lot of work to remember all of the events of 2013 without Google, so some of these might be a little off… or at least askew.

Russia bans the show Queer Eye for the Ex-KGB Spy, after a dismal fall season premiere. Or something.
Rob Ford, great grand cousin of Hen...

My Life as a Couch

No one ever asks a couch what they have going on. It simply doesn’t matter if your couch has plans or errands. It is there when you need it and spends as much time with you as you want.

No, I’m not under the assumption that couches have a secret life like the toys in Toy Story. Instead, I speak merely from the newly discovered point of view from my time as a couch.
